  1. I have always changed the views file for various modules to allow for more freedom of movement. When I try this nowadays the module stops working (it is just greyed out in the mission editor). What am I doing wrong?
  2. I recently went back to the M-2000C and realized right away that the cockpit is still too dark. Why is that? The F-18C looks perfectly well lit, as does Razbams own Harrier. It seems the Mirage needs a bit of tweaking, and hopefully it's done soon. What is your opinion?
  3. I have a Rift system in a VR room at my company (my brothers system). I have a couple of hours logged in DCS with it. It’s really cool, but still a bit lacking to replace the TIR5 when running missions. Gen 2 will be a quantum leap, so I’ll wait a bit before buying VR for my home setup.
  4. Well, they better get it out before 2021, otherwise VR will lose some serious momentum. Many (like me) is waiting for 2nd gen before taking the plunge.
  5. When I finally had some time to sit down to play mission two again (after my last attempt in late december was spolied due to a bug) this bug shows up. I can't believe my bad luck.
  6. This is very true. If there's anything DCS needs more of it's great mission content. I think many DCS players can confirm that. We're getting there, but there's still too little quality content, even for ED:s own flagship modules.
  7. I really don't get it. To me Leatherneck/Heatblurs art work has always been the best in DCS. There's a photo realistic quality to the Mig-21 and Viggen pits that is absent in the other modules. A couple of texts that are less than perfect (and which I'm sure will be fixed) are not going to change that. Personally I think Razbams cockpits are great too, just not all the way up to Heatblurs standards. And the mirrors? Honestly, are they that big of a deal?
  8. Actually, all planes in DCS need curves to compensate for the short throw sticks most of us have. I have seen several real world pilots here on the forum (including the Viggen pilot) saying that the planes are way too sensitive to stick input compared to real life. Adding curvature does increase sensitivity at the extremes, but that is usually not a problem. It’s the extra control around the center that is needed for fine maneuvering.
  9. I'd say it's impossible to have all the correct combinations of historical theatres and the exact correspondning aircraft variants. If they make a Vietnam map I would be happy to fly missions in it even if the version of the aircraft is not the exact same as was operated IRL. I think we all have to accept this and be a little flexible. As someone else mentioned, some of the differences could probably be compensated in loadouts.
  10. To be honest, for DCS, a true next-gen headset is probably what is needed to get a really good experience (where reading gauges and spotting targets will be alot easier). Now that HTC have released this medium update I put my faith in Oculus actually releasing a gen 2 headset first. I don't think they will risk HTC being first on that ball. However, I don't expect much news from Oculus until Connect 5 in October. Since there was no mention at all of a CV1 replacement on Oculus 4 it is more or less 100% sure that Connect 5 will be all about the CV2, with a probably release in spring 2019, or maybe christmas 2018 (if we're lucky). I will probably wait out the CV2. I like that Oculus is well supported in DCS and have features like ASW that is still missing with the Vive. Also, by late 2018 or spring 2019 the next Ti-card from Nvidia will be available and that should be a nice upgrade from my GTX 980 (non-Ti). :)
  11. Okay, seems like it will get same resolution as Odyssey, so no big news really. Shame... Official presentation at 1 pm pacific time.
  12. Like Hook47 said, Rift is clearly better than Vive for DCS, mainly because the screen door effect is alot less pronounced. I do however recommend you to keep an eye on CES today (yes today) since HTC is expected to announce an improved Vive with higher resolution. Visit UploadVR or RoadToVR later today and there should be reports to be read on the matter.
  13. Very exciting indeed! Maybe finally we will have a serious upgrade from what have been available for the past two years (soon). If the specs are good it will be a day one purchase for me. If just Nvidia could release the next Ti-card too...
  14. Yeah, they have updated the site now. The ”Buy” button was missing earlier.
  15. I can't seem to buy the new campaign on the DCS website. Is it not available yet?
  16. I posted about this in the main section. Ranger79 has also repsonded so go check out that thread.
  17. Okay, great to hear. Will it be fixed in 1.5 too or should I wait until the release of 2.5?
  18. Thanks for the replies. I still haven't found any solution but I have posted in the bugs section now. I have no rudder pedals, only the Z and X keys. The thing that is annoying is that you constantly try to find a good trim without banking but it's next to impossible. Even when you've succeeded it seems that after some maneuvering the trim has changed again and the plane starts to bank. I've tried a large dead zone on the joystick but it makes no difference. Also, the problem is just with the A-10C, no other modules behave like this.
  19. I've noticed that the A-10C nowadays is banking left or right directly after take-off. This problem was not present earlier. It's also very hard to trim out the plane (so that it's not banking). When you think you have found a good trim you do some maneuvering and then it's off again. This is very annoying, but if it's a feature then please let us know. As it is now it feels very weird and no other plane in DCS has this tendency. Btw, I have no rudder pedals. Just Z and X mapped to the rudder.
  20. I just sat there waiting but nothing happens. The plane (C-130) never comes in for landning, it just keeps circling. I've tested twice and also accelerated time, but the mission is bugged. My DCS version is 1.5.8.12667 stable. I had to watch on Youtube what was supposed to happen. Finally had a couple of hours to play between kids and all. :(
  21. After you have slaved the Maverick to your SPI you should do a TMS forward short. The Maverick will then attempt to lock onto the target.
  22. Thanks for the replies. I think shagrat is correct. After looking at a Youtube video it seems I have missed one step in the process and therefore don’t receive the data. I will test it tonight when the little ones have been put to sleep.
  23. I can't seem to get the data sent to me from JTAC. I've run the "Smerch Hunt" mission and I contact JTAC and get the information but I always have to punch in the coordinates manually into the CDU to create a new waypoint. I looked at the Net settings and both own and group is set to 01. Shouldn't this work, or am I missing something?
  24. About a year ago, after flying the A-10C for about two years, and after completing "The enemy within" I started testing other modules to find what to invest my time in next. Since then I have flown alot of different modules, not really learning any of them to a high degree. Most of my time has been shared between the M-2000C and the Viggen. However, after spending some time in the A-10C again (re-learning some stuff) I'm really liking it again. I really like advanced planes, and most other modules seem a bit simple after the A-10C. Having a Hotas completely mimicking the real one is a big plus, and then there are heaps of content to go through. Other than that I have to say that the manual is the best I've encountered. I think many of the other devs have alot to learn from the A-10C. A good manual adds alot to the whole experience of learning the aircraft. Until the Harrier gets a little more complete and the F-18 is released I think the A-10C will be my main module again. :) Has anyone else made the same decision?
  25. It's hard to argue against the A-10C. It's polished and very usable in the DCS environment. It has alot of different weapons and ALOT of content to go through. The Harrier has great potential, but it's too early to recommend it over the A-10C (lots of systems not implemented yet). I find the Viggen to be alot of fun. It looks awesome (inside and outside), it has that cold war feel and a lot of unique qualities and weapons. I think the reworked manual and mini-campaign should be here soon too. Hopefully also an english cockpit (for the non-swedes).
