  1. Hey Chewy, I have one. I am using these settings: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3387061&postcount=11 and playing with solid 60 fps (Vsync). I am very happy with it (working on a 1920x1080). Paid 300€ and change, when the 1080Ti was running at >1k€ I am following the same strategy: saved a few money there, and waiting for next gen Vega/VR combo
  2. only for the first 5 hours, batteries run out, there was no plan for solar panels or other power supplies
  3. I highly, highly (did I say highly enough?) doubt he designed any of those. That is, if you mean anything else than drawing it on the napkin during a lunch meeting with a bunch of engineers. Designing a rocket for orbit placing is not a single-man job. Nor it is his job. He is the CEO of many companies, getting funds and acting as 'catalyst', let's say. And I mean this with the utmost respect (see my post before: I have nothing else than the utmost admiration for him). Just defending my poor, maltreated category :D
  4. Fantastic! And those multiple sonic booms at the end .. nice!!
  5. I've repeated with your settings (attached), and I am getting 46-50 fps when looking down to the fields. Towards the sea, solid 60. Totally playable though, I don't have problems with that. When flying low above the village I get 30 fps. GPU memory > 4.5 GB. Try out my settings, you may be happy enough without cashing out for a new GPU (prices are stupid crazy now)
  6. Done (see attachment to confirm that is what you asked. You can also find my settings in there). Solid 60 fps everywhere, flying high, low, fast, slow.. TryOut.miz
  7. Yep, I've found that page, but my name is not listed. Perhaps it's because I have got no kills yet  But I have lost a few planes :D Yesterday I could join, but it was a desert: I was alone most of the time. Sure I would like to team up! I mostly fly in the evenings, UTC+1. I'll be there in half an hour (name: gab)
  8. I concur: this was not only stunning to see, but not even remotely easy to accomplish: those boosters re-entered the atmosphere at thousands km/h in a coordinated descent, landing simultaneously. An applause is in order! I can only imagine the elation in that control room.. how I wish to have been part of that
  9. To pour water over this little fire: you just reminded me of a joke I 've heard in Hungary (where they know a thing or two about real socialism). A communist party leader asks a lower-ranked comrade: < Tovarisch! What if you had two houses? > Well, I'd give one to the party and use the other for myself < Very good! And what if you had two cars? > I'd donate one to the party! < Well said! And what if you had two bikes? > Wait wait.. I do have two bikes!
  10. Ok, I will try this evening.
  11. This is a good point: the real factor is the involvement of the private sector in the space segment. This was considered unattainable a few years back, because of the massive financial resources associated to space exploitation. Imo, Musk's main success was to be able to concentrate enough capital to make this happen. And this is not a minor achievement: I am working in a related sector, and 'to make things happen' is the single most difficult factor in the chain: one may have the capital, the technology, the people, the knowledge, and the will, and still not be able to move forward. I had the chance to talk with a few NASA engineers involved in the Orion program, and I could sense some bitterness about the rise of Space X: not because of competitiveness or other similar feelings, but because they knew they could do so much more, if only they were given enough funds. Last decades have not been kind on the space sector, too many cuts. And to think that the whole of space business costs less than the equivalent of a coffee per day to the taxpayer...
  12. This always pops up. Here the best way to look at it: http://www.lettersofnote.com/2012/08/why-explore-space.html
  13. Yes, that one. It works, but keeps 'wobbling'. It always has, also when brand new
  14. I confirm . Mine is 9 years old, still working fine (except for the damn slider, it has always been a bit problematic)
  15. ops, I did not notice you wanted to try over Vegas: I do not yet possess that map. Over Caucasus, I get a solid 60fps everywhere (VSync'ed), with an exception for a few isolated cases that I could not reproduce (disappeared upon restarting..). Do you experience a difference between flying over Vegas vs any city in Caucasus?
  16. Just back from watching the stream with a few colleagues.. This was phenomenal! Well done
  17. Ok, thank you all for clarifying! One thing still I haven't get: do you have a mean to check for your stats? Cheers, G.
  18. Here I am ;) Problem is: how are we going to isolate the contribute of the 1060? Do you have a comparable system as mine (in signature)? I'll be happy to run any track you generate and report results. As for this, I have to disagree mildly: it's not dishonesty, as nobody is forcing you to buy anything, you can stick with lesser specs (and possibly not much worse performance, true that). Imo, it's all about marginal gains: once arrived to a certain level, every little step up takes an exponentially higher effort (read: price) to obtain a similar increment. This applies to both producer (more investments for marginal gains, sometimes) and buyers (is a 3000 k€ PC twice as fast as a 1500k€ one? Hello no!) In the end, one must look at his budget, and maximize components keeping in mind the costs. Easier said than done, don't I know it!

    Any estimate

lazduc, I have no problems whatsoever: stable, smooth and can even play MP on many servers without a glitch. Specs are in signature, I have installed 2.5beta standalone (no previous versions were installed, it is a new PC) on a brand new M.2. Settings are on High, gamma 2, and the rest I do not remember. If you want, I can upload a screenshot later, when back at home. My guess is that, as usual, those for which it does not work properly are a lot more vocal than those who experience no problems (too busy playing it )
  20. Helping a newcomer (noob alert!) I have joined the server for the first time in the past couple of days, and it has been a blast! Yesterday I have made a couple of ground attacks (jeez, it is difficult to find them the first time, I am used to SP with labels on :) This is much more realistic and satisfying, when successfull), burned a few things, got hit by artillery, and managed to limp back to airfield of origin. Great first experience, many thanks eekz for setting all of this up . I am a novice to MP, and there are some things that I have not yet understood, perhaps some kind soul could enlighten me: 1) How do you recognize friendlies vs foes? I need to get very close, and what usually happens is me diving unhealthy in a fireball.. 2) Is killing friendlies punished automatically? I am under the impression that I have been put down by whomever was spotting me at any particular moment, irrespective of faction 3) Where are the stats uploaded/stored? I have tried http://stats.burning-skies.com/en/, but only the top players are listed 4) Are A2G / A2A kills registered immediately, or has one to return safely to base? Not that it matters, just curious 5) Notification appear only in regards to blue vs red overall kill counts, am I right? (i.e. no real-time notifications about who killed whom) 6) Is anybody using teamspeak at all? I'll be back there again this evening, looking forward!
  21. Just found out about the Japanese giant hornet... Jeeeez!
  22. Strange.. In Italy this type of hornet (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_hornet) is also quite feared: they are known to attack passers-by (if getting too close to the nest). Around Rome, they're called ammazzasomari ('donkey-killer'), as legends wants that more than a few stings could kill a donkey.. Some summers ago I had to install a protection on the chimneys in my house, as we found a few nests, and believe me you do not want them flying inside your house..
  23. For what is worth, the situation for me has dramatically improved over the weekend. Last Thursday I couldn't play at all, sometimes I could not enter, sometimes I was down to 1/2 fps. By Sunday (yesterday), I could join the Belgian Acrobatic (5/10 players simultaneously) and the Burning Skies (I think at a certain point 30 people were logged, if not more) servers without any problem: just the occasional stutter (very rarely). RAM usage is quite massive though. Aircraft: P51d. Map: Caucasus. Specs: in signature. Fresh installation of 2.5 beta on a clean M.2 SSD.
  24. I concur: not cheap, but definitively worth every penny. I have them since 2014, not a single hint of a problem. Hugely adjustable, software installation and configuration are quick and painless. Go for it
  25. I am having troubles programming the X52pro: before (Saitek) I could assign each button to a command chosen from a pre-defined list available for each plane (the software contained bindings for DCS modules); now, with the Logitech software there seems not to be such a shortcut: I will have to insert each keyboard taste myself. Am I missing something? Also, although the keyboard (German layout) is recognized correctly in the test screen, for some reasons the bindings assign the stick buttons to a US-layout, messing up the whole process.. Any help would be much appreciated!
