  1. What happened to the BREAKAWAY BREAKAWAY BREAKAWAY! Calls? I'll try, I remember being at your phase. Nice job so far, keep up the good work. You'll figure it out soon enough. Please take the tongue-and-cheek in the manner that I mean it (dishing it back as you served it). Grade for the receiving pilot = Possible court martial, guaranteed loss of wings awaiting retraining and counseling. What "close formation flying"?????? He's not superman. He can't drive the boom in a direction it can't physically go. 100% YOUR FAULT. You drove over the refueling probe. It's a mistake we make during the learning process. STOP TRYING TO FLY THE PROBE AND THE HOG AT THE SAME TIME. FLYING THE PROBE IS HIS JOB. FLYING THE HOG IS YOUR JOB. LEARN THE DIFFERENCE. STOP DOING HIS JOB. The probe doesn't have a collision model, for obvious reasons related to the AI and collision problems. If you're in the proper location it's really a non-issue. Sure it could be improved, but that would mean you just fail here faster. You need to be a stable platform and wait for the operator to connect. You are not stable, you are chasing the probe. That's why it's clipping through the cockpit. You drive up into it until it reaches the limits of it's operating envelope, then you keep driving up into it until the model has nowhere to go and clips into your cockpit. I swear I watched this same track and made this same reply 6 months ago. I'll probably watch this same track, and make this same reply in another 6 months. We all did it. Stop doing it! The fact you collide with the tail of the tanker proves your formation flying was a failure. That should never happen, and clipping the boom should be extremely rare and a non-issue. The AI is "broken" because you work to break it. Stop doing that. OOPS ME I SLIPPED AND FELL ONTO HIS SHAFT HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? Yes. Stop trying to break the AI. Stop crashing into the back of the tanker. Your job is to put the hole in a steady spot for the dude to drive the pipe into. That's all you do. Stay in position and wait. Once you connect stay into position. Going up is just as much an error as is going down too much. Learn the probe indications, and the proper position. Stop trying to connect to the probe, that's not your job. Hope this gives you some guidance. Stop crashing into other airplanes (especially when they're friendly!)
  2. Nope, stay low and call your buddies. Controllers ain't got time of helos on their own.
  3. True, the photographer of this: ...states, "On display at the Edwards Air Force Base Open House," in 1999, which I interpret as this event: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1999-oct-08-me-20187-story.html which is a public airshow. I highly suspect he is a civilian member of the public. These are excellent points.
  4. The same is true of the map view (F10) as well. When you zoom in the actual chart will often change as well. It's the same system I think as the A-10C TAD.
  5. I think he might have misread the kneeboard (I'm pretty sure I have the same mod).
  6. Any update on fixing these unapproved mountings? Thx.
  7. Looks like the map display has been upgraded as development has progressed. It looks to be using the same chart layer as the rest of the simulator. It's gonna be interesting to work with.
  8. https://www.airliners.net/photo/USA-Air-Force/General-Dynamics-F-16A-Fighting-Falcon-401/992538/L So an Edwards F-16A on display at an airshow. EDIT: Would the USAF really mount explosives, then invite the public in close proximity?... I've never really asked that question before lol.
  9. Welcome! Tutorial Mission, the User Manual, Youtube videos (official channel or otherwise), user made guides, just getting in and doing it. These are all various methods people use to get started. I suggest you try all of them, and see what works. Seems nearly everybody gets overwhelmed by the size of the manuals. Here's a video from the developer explaining the basics of the simulator.
  10. So since we're talking about Viper loadout options, the other discussions have led me to find this photo on F16.net I don't know what model/block or even country those are, but it looks like the weapons could be CBU-99's. I wonder if those are physically smaller canisters, which can authorize this carriage (I doubt a test would involve more than 1 aircraft). Or perhaps some other restriction like deploying fins or something else I've never considered.
  11. Just general lighting stuff that every module is suffering from since the EDGE update years ago. Formation lights are inop. Side navigation/position lights are inop with no weapon racks. Searchlight can rotate 360° and blast it's light into the cockpit. This is the cause of everything getting super bright if you're messing with the search lights (very old bug). The rear cockpit bulkhead is transparent to the sun, so you get better sun illumination when the cockpit should be in complete shadow. I still think the fans have a weird reflection. Otherwise it's fantastic, enjoy it.
  12. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to give feedback.
  13. First flight simulator? This isn't an HAF aircraft.
  14. Then it's not intended to be used.
  15. 100% this. There are probably 3 general sides to this controversy. Those that think the extra HARM's are realistic, or it's an easy mod to support them. Those that think the extra HARM are not realistic. Those that care about how many HARM they can hang on their DCS:F-16C Blk 50.
  16. this bad argument keeps coming up the Hornet pylons are all wired to support launching all 10 weapons, the aircraft is approved to fly even in peace time with all 10 mounted, and there is evidence of operational aircraft flying this configuration for various reasons. There is absolutely nothing "unrealistic" about it other than choices for mission planning. In ED's terms, it is "Operationally Valid" this is a terrible comparison and it needs to stop being used. they are completely different.
  17. The Flaming Cliffs 3 manual should be available without restriction on the Steam module's page. The Communication chapter is in many of the manuals for modules, so you're not just restricted to searching FC3. Sadly I don't think every module includes the communications chapter. I expect it will be a chapter of the eventual Hornet Flight Manual.
  18. uhh...because you're fixing a problem? we're still in Early Access
  19. A Flight Manual doesn't exist yet for the Hornet. That's probably why you're having a hard time finding info like this. Because the module is in Early Access, instead of a complete manual you're using an "Early Access Guide." I expect that these explanations will be available in the finished Flight Manual, when it becomes available.
  20. I'm pretty sure .lua edit works just as well in single player. I even think if a nonstandard loudout get saved with the mission it will work for anybody that runs the mission without modifications.
  21. but this is all currently available via .lua edits on the client end. I believe also that if you don't enforce a pure client on your server people can fly multiplayer with whatever experimental and fantasy loadouts they wish to try.
  22. We were discussing Viper capabilities last night, and I had to quote several replies ITT to explain the situation. When I first mentioned the gameplay concessions, a user responded by posting a screenshot of 4 harms in the mission editor. He was under the assumption that this was an operationally valid loadout, because ED gave him the ability to select it. He can only load Vikhrs on the outer stations of his Ka-50 He can only load Mavericks on 3 and 9 on his A-10A/C He can only load AIM-9's on the wing tips of his F-5E-3 He somehow got the silly idea in his head that the pylon restrictions reflect real limitations of the aircraft he purchased... not sure how that happened. ...This thread is supposed to be locked by the way. I wonder if it was bumped because I quoted it extensively.
  23. I only use keybinds for the battery, engines, gear, and master mode. Everything else is comfortably bound to my joystick.
  24. CCIP pipper is stuck displaying solution for Retarded mode, even when Free Fall is selected. When pickle with CCIP on target, bomb falls very long. Please see attached track. Thanks, it's nice to have new weapons for the Hornet. And I appreciate training rounds! BDU-45 CCIP FF RET.trk
  25. Do USN/USMC Hornets not carry Smoke, Practice, or Illumination rockets?
