Server News: - The weather in operation The Desert Has Eyes has been changed to rainy. Let's see how "quickly" the objectives will be completed now. - Operation Into The Desert remains without rain. - The idea is to move the rainy weather from one mission to another, but one at a time. I know it's a tough challenge for the planes we have, but I hope you welcome challenges like that. Don't hate me, Dawger

It's still an ongoing bug. Check here. The mission was online for the first time after yesterday's update. Must be a missing asset as it's quite often the case after a reboot of the server. I knew you were going to say something... I just knew it. I even dreamed of it and woke up in the middle of the night shaking terribly

In some missions (or maps I should say), the 60 seconds delay doesn't help either. It really is a thing when unable to use beacons to navigate properly.

Didn't know ED released another update today. Updating the server now...

Server News: * Operation Search & Destroy kicks off this Saturday, 12.02.2022, around 1800 zulu (not 1900). * Work on a new mission has started: - The mission will feature the Syria map. - The A-4 mod will be included!!! - Nuke bombs will be included (very limited (1-2 bombs max.) and not everyone will have access to them). - Actual sling loading of nuke bombs and ammo crates will be included. - CTLD will probably be included, but very limited. It'll come to me while designing the mission as it always is the case on how limited CTLD will be, if included at all. - The mission will be hosted once a week, mainly on the weekend, like Search & Destroy, Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed and Prince of Persia. The A-4 mod: You don't have to install it to fly the mission. It'll appear as a Su-27 to those who don't own the mod. If you're flying on Red and you see a "Su-27", then obviously it's an A-4 and it's hostile. If you're flying on Blue however, then it's friendly. I'll have a message appearing every 3 minutes for 10-20 seconds to remind players of that, to hopefully prevent chaos. We'll see how it goes. The mod is 1 or 2 GB's if I'm not mistaking. Therefore, even if you're not planning on flying the A-4 you might want to install it nonetheless, to get the full immersion and experience of fighting or escorting it throughout the mission. Again, you don't have to do so. Once the mission is hopefully finished, I'll always include the latest version of the mod next to the date and time of the event, so that players always have the same A-4 version. The mod will remain as part of this one mission and not become part of the daily missions. This is in order not to force anyone to get it. And if I'd ever force anything it'd be comms and teamwork, but you know that already. Better get somewhere without forcing anything though God bless you all! Safe flying!

That's a great initiative. Comms and teamwork all day long! Can't express that often enough.

You came to the same conclusion Rocky (good old DCS mate of mine) came to. Might be the issue then. It still happens from time to time. Not as bad as it was, but still.

Server News: Operation Fast & Furious has been updated. Here's the change log. * Operation Search & Destroy kicks off this Friday, 04.02.2022, around 1900 zulu. * Operation Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed kicks off this Saturday, 05.02.2022, around 1800 zulu (1800, not 1900).

Server News: Operation Into The Desert: - UH-1's and their FARP's were deleted and recreated from scratch. Hope this fixes the issue. - Hawk SAM site units blocking the runway at Lar Airbase were moved further south.

I'll check it out soon. Almost there

I'll check it out tomorrow.

Rotated to Phone Booth. Swedish Delivery is removed from the server for a new rework of the mission.

Just finished playing around with Combined Arms with the isometric view being disabled. If you're driving a vehicle of any type, you're limited to only seeing what's ahead of you. You'd have to rotate the turret or the gun around to check out your surroundings, and that's in general a very slow process depending on the speed of that turret or gun. I don't mind the isometric view as it acts as if the tank commander is peaking out of the hatch. What I don't like about it, and that's where I agree with you, is the zooming feature of it. And that's something that can't be disabled. If more CA players would want me to disable the isometric view I can't see why not.

True. I'll check it out.

All good, mate. No offense taken

Server News: Operation Phone Booth has been updated. Here's the change log. - In addition, the weather has been changed. It's now snowy, cold, partially clouded, foggy and turbulent. - The mission is currently online, therefore, the update will be included next time it goes online. Updating more missions is on the way, just bear with me, please. Family and work come in between. Operation Search & Destroy: The mission kicks off this Friday, 28.01.2022, around 1900 zulu.

Announcing the F-4 Phantom for DCS World!
Alpenwolf replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I've never ever watched a DCS trailer and was so surprised and speechless. And I'm for sure not the type to ever be speechless! The Cold War 1947-1991 server will embrace the Phantom, hug it, kiss it, drool all over it and never let go! Godspeed, Heatblur! -

The many restrictions, limitations, never using the same module/unit on both sides (for both IFF and "authenticity" reasons), the emphasis on using comms and rely on teamwork are all as one package of features (among other secondary features) a major aspect of this server, especially, years ago when I started hosting; Less servers back then and most were more or less following the same protocol. On top of that, including a "risky" module like Combined Arms and wrap most missions around it. And that's only due to the fact that the ground warfare is simply part of... war. Hence the various tournaments and encouraging players to get it and test it out. You know, hoping for developers to revisit the module one day and polish some of its surfaces. I'm not saying other servers were/are bad or anything. That's everyone's different taste in things and the variety of servers these days gives everyone a place to be. For instance, you can't say Pizza is not tasty and frame that as a general opinion. It's your own taste. PERIOD! And those who have been around me for a while know how much I don't care about what others do or why they do it. In DCS, I kind of found my place in the virtual world of sims/games and I wasn't even looking for one. Then I created my own niche with the MiG-21 and the F-5 being its main modules (after working for quite a while with ACG_IronJockel) hoping to attract enough players who share the same approach towards this great simulator. The best I might add! Yes, simulator, and I treat it as such and prefer to share it with only those who see it as such. Over the last years of hosting I've always been adding and removing features or making things "harder" in the missions while paying attention to players' feedback. All that to get to a place where players can still have fun without getting bored with fanatic realism as some call it. I had to stop at some point and never push any further. I had to give up and give in many times and just as much players of the Cold War community had to as well. I couldn't implement everything I wanted and players couldn't agree on everything I had, so we ended up meeting in the middle. A common ground that I was trying to get to, where everyone (or most actually) is happy with what they got and able to live without some of the features they'd love to have (you can't have everything and please everyone, so I never bothered about the latter). And that's when the server's become what it is with the standard features it has. Now, talking about bringing players back. I've always said this: One day there will be a new and a different generation of players in DCS that will certainly approach this simulator (or game?) differently. And quite often such a change scares off some OG's of not just DCS, but any game. It's like a company or a brand that is known for something and one day they change a few features to attract more customers (which is very legit from a product provider's point of view), so they end up gaining more and new followers/players/customers/etc. on the cost of losing older ones, who then end up reminiscing the good old days and wishing for things to go back to what they once were. Well, they're not That's the nature of things and DCS is just one example. That being said, I'm never ever changing any of the major features of any of my missions to get anyone attracted to the server. I don't use social media and I'm not interested in having followers or numbers or likes or whatever is out there in that regard. I simply love DCS the way I do and had many players like me throughout the years with whom I've shared many beautiful and intense sessions. If I'm outdated or my missions don't attract the new waves of new DCS players, who think of my missions and server rules to be too tough or too whatever, so be it. And that's not me being stubborn, as some say, but simply me wanting to enjoy DCS the way I want to enjoy it. That's all there is to it, mate, and I understand your concern. The server is still online and is still running. For how long? Who knows... That's something not very foreseeable. God bless you all! Fly safe!

It is limited in all the missions I've updated so far. Others will follow.

What do you mean by crate cap?

I just deleted the Mi-24's FARP's and added new ones with configured warehouses. Hope it fixes the issue. A very weird issue by the way, which seems to affect some FARP's, but not all in the very same mission. Go figure...
