  1. Server News: Co-Admin: rossmum twitch youtube Now, that doesn't mean you should be spamming him with private messages. Give him time
  2. Server's up.
  3. No password is needed. It's only on right now for testing purposes. Yeah, I've noticed that. The server crashed a few times, so I started fumbling around with the LotATC settings and it seems to be fine now. Mine is actually set to 6 seconds by default, so whatever else was causing the problem seems to be gone. I hope so. You still don't allow mods on the server? Haven't been able to check out your mission yet because of that. Alright, I'm a bit lazy to uninstall the mods, I guess, so I'm kind of waiting on ED to release an update for the game which would overwrite any mods, so I can join before reinstalling them A bit busy with moderating and updating these days, so I wont be flying anywhere anyway, but soon, I hope. Little Alpen is demanding as well, but that's a blessing Cheers!
  4. Bless you, mate. I'll use that for the time being and hopefully it gets fixed.
  5. Sounds good to me. No worries, mate. I'll get one myself
  6. Server News: *** The server goes back online today, Saturday, 11.12.2021, around 1900 zulu *** Operation When The Mountains Cry will start the show and it's currently the only mission with a complete remake, which will be implemented in all missions over the upcoming days and weeks. Note that you might not notice these changes, but from my perspective as a mission designer they are huge. GCI, Combined Arms and LotATC: As you know, I always try to emphasise the importance of the Combined Arms module being involved in almost all my missions. I'd rather have players control the ground units to have things as dynamic as it can get rather than AI. And I always encourage purchasing the module (Note: ZERO profit in it for me, other than having players control the ground warfare), so we can have more players involved in the ground game. The downside of the module is that the GCI operator is provided with highly accurate and without any delays precise information. That mostly affects aerial units, especially, helicopters and strikers. You'd think you're undetected flying behind a mountain or in a valley, but the enemy's GCI operator sees you on the F10 map. Note that the Combined Arms module wasn't designed to be used as a GCI tool in the first place, therefore, LotATC is now added to the server and should be used as such. Besides, LotATC is way more realistic and I might tune things in it in the future or change certain settings. LotATC: 2 x slots per side and you can only use it if you're not flying. In addition, there's a password needed for those who want to do GCI. Reach out to me here via pm or on TS for that matter. I could name ca. 10 players who do GCI out of the top of my head, and they'll probably be the first to receive the passwords from me. Whether it's going to stay at 2 x slots per side or whether the password is really needed or not, only time will tell. Your feedback is as always very vital. In the updated mission When The Mountains Cry, all aerial units are hidden on the F10 map! That means Combined Arms users will only be able to see ground units and ground assets only. They're busy enough with the ground warfare and those of you who have been doing both simultaneously know how stressing it can be. How is this going to affect comms or the progress in the mission? Again, only time will tell and your feedback is once more very much appreciated and needed. Other missions haven't been changed in that regard yet. We'll have to see how it plays out first. SRS and The MiG-15 Comms' Issue: Poor MiG-15 pilots have always been working alone on their radio frequency while being unable to contact any other pilots due to differences in the radio systems. I could enable the radio expansion for all to operate freely and I did that once, but that caused a bit of chaos and players ended up operating of different frequencies. Therefore, the radio expansion will only be enabled for MiG-15 players only. However, that requires the players themselves to do the following: - Go to Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\Services\DCS-SRS\Scripts path. - Find the DCS-SimpleRadioStandalone.lua file and save a backup somewhere. - Copy and paste the file below to your Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\Services\DCS-SRS\Scripts path. - Do NOT change the filename. You should now have a Virtual Radio (Expansion Radio) available in SRS when flying the MiG-15. This radio can be tuned to all frequencies between 116.000 and 399.975 in the VHF and UHF Band. Here's the file you'd need for that purpose: DCS-SimpleRadioStandalone.lua * Note that every time ED releases an update for DCS, the file is overwritten and you'll have to repeat the procedure of copying and pasting the file again. -------------------------------------- Operation When The Mountains Cry: - All radio frequencies have been optimised and added to the briefing. - In addition, the orange circles on the F10 map contain further information in that regard. - The warehouses have been adjusted. - Added specific lua files and triggers. Note that other essential changes are mainly to help things perform better. Beacons are still bugged and don't work on ED's dedicated servers. I filed a report a while ago and I can only hope they fix the issue, so I can set up beacons for both sides and in all missions to help with better navigation. Fingers crossed! * A co-admin is found, I hope. Hopefully, I can announce that soon. * Special thanks to =475FG= Dawger for helping me out and testing multiple things with me. Bless you, mate! Thank you all for your patience! Alpenwolf
  7. An example mission was already attached (see the third post) and now here's a .trk file in case you didn't have the time to test it out yourself. Fix, please, and Godspeed! Beacons Don't Work on Dedicated Servers-20211209-235414.trk server-20211209-235914.trk
  8. I don't know what servers you fly on, but in my case, it's the following: Is this cold start pandemic a conscious effort from the server administrators to add a level of realism? Yes, it's on purpose for that reason. Is it to avoid too rapid regeneration of aircraft after deaths? Yes. Very much yes. Is it because that's what people really want? No, I don't think so. You'd find many players who'd rather have it like you, I guess. Or is it a conspiracy to run my frustration through the roof? I personally love everthing about flying any module in DCS. From the start up procedure all the way back to base (if I make it back) to the shut down procedure. The latter is not necessary, but RTB is to save the aircraft, otherwise, it counts as a loss and the team (not the player) loses an aircraft. That's a normality on my server. Nevertheless, very valid and understandable points from you for sure. You can always have the aircraft run the auto-start procedure to at least save you the clicking and flipping of buttons and switches. The Cold War server I run features older jets and the F-14A. The latter has the alignment saved by default to save you some time, but not enough time, I guess? Other jets or helicopters on the server don't require that much time to start up compared to the AV-8 you spoke of and the like.
  9. Server News: First, I need to apologise to you all for keeping you in the dark. The server has never gone offline like that since day one of hosting, but I had to do it. I was at my father's for a while. And yes, my wife gave birth to my third child recently. And yes, I'm currently upgrading the server and updating the missions. However, all that has nothing to do with the server going offline. It's not like the server runs on a steam engine and requires me to feed it with wood constantly, but it was impossible while joggling with the baby with the other hand. ... It's something else and of no importance to you, but of a high value to me. That led me to rethink the issue with having a co-admin, especially, with more missions, events, tournaments, etc. coming to the server. I had a co-admin years ago when I started out, then was better off working alone, then had/have one or two who could have access to the server just in case, but they're not available often enough. Once I have a co-admin I'll let you know. Trust me, I'd rather have the server go back online right now, but it might take another week. Hopefully, less. Meanwhile, show Enigma some support or not, up to you, just don't get distracted by some individuals on both sides or anywhere else. God bless and safe flying!
  10. Server is currently offline.
  11. Which is why Blue has 12 x F-14A's and Red 6 x MiG-29A's "only". Blue are the attacker, so they need more aircraft, slots and weapons and they have all that already. Couldn't agree more about the AJS37! I know some are frustrated with me limiting it to 2 air-to-air missiles only, but it really should be doing its thing and you can still get a kill or two if MiG's come near you. I might end up buying the module due to its incredible air-to-ground capabilities. What an aircraft! The mission had AWACS planes for both sides when it first came out to counter the mountainous terrain. Take a wild guess what happened there! Yup, players on both sides stuck to hunting the AWACS for the entire time of the mission. I added more AWACS planes in case one is lost. At some point, each side had a total of 5 AWACS planes and it was still the same: Who gets the enemy's AWACS first! The only way to stop that from happening is to either make AWACS immortal, or have MiG-23's/F-4's escorting it. The latter would only give players the incentive to go out on a hunt against MiG-23's/F-4's and their AWACS. Damn! Bad idea... Immortal AWACS it is then?
  12. I'll see what I can do with the Phoenixes. And because you like Search & Destroy I'll try and figure out a way to put them there.
  13. No vanillas here, mate. It's just a one round for the reasons I mentioned. The taking a break part was the least of all and was meant more like a joke. Yeah, which is why I ended up launching Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed yesterday. It'll go online today again and tomorrow the Fishbed vs Tiger one. Lots of things happening in my life, mate. Bloody real life, huh Joke aside. Thank God for that. - Sometimes objectives are changed a bit, so the briefing is merely adjusted. - Sometimes briefing images are added or removed or modified. - I've designed a total of 11 new missions this year alone, and will work on a new one soon to include more AI bombers for both sides. - All aircraft and weapons are limited in numbers. The MiG-29A and the F-14A are limited to 6, 8 or 10 aircraft max with 2 slots per type of aircraft. - In only one mission, Open Range, Mi-8's and UH-1's are tasked with sling loading ammo crates to the airbases at which the two advanced jets spawn. - So, maybe that hasn't been done yet by the time you joined the server which explains why they're blocked. - The server not being very populated as of late has led to the two modules being a bit of trouble to some players. Others keep urging me to leave it as it is and embrace the challenge. You're welcome. See you airborne!
  14. I used to fly on the Korea server very often when it was popular years ago. I started adding the MiG-15 and the F-86 to my server only after their server was empty for months, to kind of give these beauties a home to stay at. The 104th server used to run MiG-15 vs F-86 tournaments and I used to advertise that and urge them to do more of those and they did. That being said, there's quite some multiplayer history with the two modules involved. Unfortunately, it's stayed at that... history. The Korea server is not quite dead though, they run events from time to time. Check out their thread here. There are two Cold War servers now and both host the two modules. You'd be surprised how good they perform against the more advanced jets and get enough kills to say the least. I get your point though. You'd rather have it without missiles and early jets only and that's something I can also relate to as I adore older jets. Hopefully, the admins run more events and more regularly on the Korea server.
  15. Honestly, giving Mike-Delta and myself a bit of a break there Not just that though, that's a minor thing, but to see how players on both sides behave when a human GCI operator is not around. Do they communicate more? Does one emerge as some sort of a leader assigning specific land marks where they all should meet and wait for the enemy? Etc. It's a one timer and only to once more increase the importance of using comms. The fourth round will have GCI operators back online. Probably next weekend.
  16. Explains why the mission was over when I check it out shortly after! Changed some minor things in the mission and will put it online tonight. Maybe more Blue players will join just because it's Friday
  17. Operation Fishbed vs Tiger will go online on Saturday, 03.12.2021, around 1900 zulu. - Human GCI for both sides is removed! - Instead of EWR's it's AWACS planes for both sides. - The AWACS planes are set to immortal, so players should just stick to the objective of killing all 100 enemy fighters.
  18. On the other hand, they are really popular missions. I guess, we'll have to give it time. Maybe or hopefully the numbers go back up some time in the future. Already working on something to counter the advanced fighters a bit.
  19. Check out Mike-Delta's stream. He does cmdr quite often: Twitch
  20. All the above mentioned by The_Tau. The mission design is very dependant on comms, and I kind of make it that way to encourage players to be on comms. I know that SRS can be a bit annoying and cumbersome to work with, but that's the only tool we have for in-game comms. On a side note, word is ED is working on implementing SRS or something similar, so it wont be an external or an additional app any more. Hope that turns out to be true. To encourage teamwork I have to encourage the usage of comms. Therefore, there is no website with loads of images and information on the progress of any mission. The more fancy tools of that kind the more solo players we end up having on the server, hence the indirect way of trying to get players on comms. English is not everyone's language, but we have plenty of players who speak all kinds of languages, so don't hesitate to post a question in the chat or even use SRS for that purpose to hopefully find a player who understands your language, and can help you to get your bearings. Nowhere it says English is the main spoken language on the server, although it is. It's not a rule is what I mean by that.
  21. Server News: Operation Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed: - All 10 x Su-27's were removed. - Instead, 8 x MiG-29A's were added back. R-27T's removed. - Instead of 10 x F-14A's it's now 8. Less AIM-7M's, more AIM7-F's. - Mi-8's can pick up up to 40 crates at Sochi Airbase (main airbase). - UH-1's can pick up up to 40 crates at Kutaisi Airbase (main airbase). - Mi-8's and UH-1's can pick up up to 20 crates at the airbases they're tasked with capturing: Gudauta, Sukhumi, Senaki and Kobuleti. - Mi-8's and UH-1's can pick up up to 14 crates at the FARP's, Valley and Zeni. - Note that one infantry squad counts as one crate. - Wind, turbulence and temperature adjusted. - Warehouses corrected. The mission will go online tomorrow, Friday 02.12.2021, around 1800 - 1900 zulu.
  22. Very appreciated and thoughtful feedback so far! There are already 8 x B-52's in the mission Swedish Delivery instead of 4 as requested by some players a while ago. More B-52's will be added to other missions. That's the only AI I never minded. I'll consider the addition of Red bombers in some missions depending on their scenarios. MiG-23's and F-4's as escort for bombers is a nice touch and will be added if tests go well. Fingers crossed! I'm also of the opinion of reducing the number of AIM-7M's for the Tomcat (2 x pylons instead of 4) or maybe 4 pylons, but AIM-7F's instead. The Su-27 is way too much and I didn't expect anything less to be honest. Will be removed from Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed. @SturmVogel: You mean, you want to design a website or just provide some stats somehow? You can send me a pm if you want or talk to me on TS if you use that old thing I'm stuck in. Du sprichst doch Deutsch oder nicht? Wenn ja, dann halt auf Deutsch via pm oder TS.
  23. Man, Apok, you kind of read my thoughts a bit... While I was designing the mission Oil & Water I had 2 x MiG-23's and 2 x F-4's, even with BVR weapons onboard. I ran some tests with those and everything was fine until a few days later a DCS update was released and caused some issues to the MiG-23's flight path. I couldn't figure out why, but they kept flying back to the home base and never got into any fights. I checked out their waypoints and advanced options and everything was good. The point is, the more AI, the more trouble. And when having so many missions (my own handmade curse) fixing any tiny issue becomes a big deal when doing it in so many missions. There are quite a few things I would love to implement, but always reluctant to do because of that. That being said, I'd love to hear what other players think about having the two aircraft involved in maybe one mission. Maybe a big mission like When The Mountains Cry or Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed? Personally, I'd rather not have the AI implemented, except for AI bombers as it is the case in some missions, but if players want to see that for a change, then I could do it in one mission of your choice.
  24. You guys won it?
