  2. The Mustang is good enough... Just be disciplined. Stay fast. Stay above 16500' unless you're sure you can make the kill (and if you don't do NOT turn for another try get the eff back above 16.5K'). It's not the best "turn fighter" but... it doesn't need to be. It a very good boom and zoom fighter.
  3. I'm 99% certain that's not true 3WA... I know there's evidence where something like a shilka will appear to track you after you've ducked behind cover... but as a human... I would also continue to track an enemy in that situation based on "hey they'll likely come out over there at about this time..." but that doesn't mean a shilka always tracks the player at all times and/or knows exactly where they are. MAYBE that's true with ground units?? But I've used terrain masking to hide from enemy fighters (In fighters and in the shark) many times. It's easier the closer you are.
  4. "DCS AI, I'm afraid. See all, know all." Well that's not quite true as I understand... The trouble with Heli's is they create absolutely MASSIVE radar signatures... Especially the shark. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the SIM is perfect :)... But yeah tree lines certainly won't hide you. They just aren't tall enough and I'm not 100% sure the radar doesn't work through trees. Buildings and terrain though... Should mask you as long as they're tall enough to provide 100% complete cover and then some. As I said... heli's are EXTREMELY noisy to a radar. Also consider any sort of AWACS etc that may have had you... Also... Even if the Mig couldn't see you directly IN your cover... The AI isn't exactly dumb. It's not like Metal Gear Solid where you just hide in a box for 10 seconds and they forget you were there :). They will remember where you were going when they or someone saw you and go take a look :).
  5. I've never seen one with one... but I don't know for 100% sure :).
  6. Probably double binds on the axes... Chack that. Clear all axes you dont need.
  7. Any company that seriously considers this sort of behavior is off my list. Doesn't matter if the people convince them not to. Don't care. they should know not to try.
  8. Yeah honestly they're all eazy peazy setup... I think many people decide their solution is the best and/or decide some other solution is "dumb" and just talk complete crap. regarding your 60% steam setting.... Disable MSAA. Set the Steam settings to 100% for both settings. They actually are combined. So if you have the main SteamVR res setting at 150%, then the per game setting at 100%, you're getting 150%. Set them both to 100% and re-test after turning off 2x MSAA. If you don't like it without MSAA you can always go back.
  9. WUT? Holy Cow dude. Are you sure you're a "dev"??? It doesn't sound like you have any idea what you're talking about. Maybe you do on the programming side, but... "All you need to do is read them from the module"??? What does that have to do with anything? They have different encryption types, strength, freq ranges, are affected by weather differently etc... WTF dude... You also need to integrate it with the terrain system for LOS effects... Yeah sure... Simple. LOL. A clean replication of SRS is "easier" than what they've said they're working on... But... That's not what they're working on. If you want a simple radio... maybe... use a "simple radio" for now. I do... And it's simple. It's great... Works fine and makes me sound cool... BUT... If ED want to have full on adoption of their in-game VComs they have a "simple" solution to beat but it's also a VERY clean and useful solution. It actually sets the bar pretty high IMO. ED can't just replicate SRS. That would be WORSE than what we have right now when looked at holistically... It would directly split the community. A solution that has all the features they've indicated however... Would likely unify the community. All except the comp teams of course... But if I were on a comp team I wouldn't use the "realistic" solution either. As a "full time dev" you should understand that an integrated solution will always be more complex than a standalone solution. SRS isn't connected to anything but API output. An integrated comms solution, when taking into consideration that they've not said it would be "simple"... is just not simple.

Meh... I've watched it at least 200K of those times...
  11. Well... I don't think that's a safe assumption. That said... I think the way it would likely happen is that HB add deck crews to Forestal... But you only see them if you own SuperCarrier??? If you want Deck Crews... buy the super carrier. ED can't survive without paying the bills. Providing free content doesn't pay the bills. for the record... I wouldn't like that exactly. I think the carriers SHOULD be free, but there should be a "DCS: DeckCrew" DLC that all 3rd party devs could make available (assuming you own "DeckCrew") on their carriers... But so far ED doesn't quite seem to understand how the customer sees these things. I think they've done it about as good as can be aside from the DCS: DeckCrew idea... but they chose a different way. It's all good. Just means "most" MP servers don't run supercarriers.
  12. I feel like I operate more like you Jub... Very rarely will I use FD. I probably should use it a bit more honestly... Specifically when I need to weasel or do "close" air support. Currently I do that holding trim... Which in my setup means I need to let go of trim to switch weapon pylons, but not to switch to guns. And really... In that case I usually fire the vikhr's down an HMS slaved beam anyway with no "lock". I do not turn Alt channel on though. I can see the benefit in your described situations for sure but I just don't do those generally so it never gets turned on. The Shark is such a CAS beast... People have no idea :). Regarding the OP though... If you are "tapping" trim like you would in some aircraft... That's not the way it's supposed to be used. You should hold trim any time you're "telling the shark where to go". Once it's "going there"... Release trim and it will continue to go there. You shoot stuff, it fly's :).
  13. In the instance I describe It shouldn't accumulate trim if you hold trim instead of tap. If you tap trim repeatedly without centering the stick (assuming no FFB...) it will accumulate an offset and eventually be mostly un-trimable or seem like it needs a trim reset. This can also happen, but to a much lesser extent, if you don't allow the aircraft to "settle" into a nice settled state/equilibrium before releasing trim. If I interpret you correctly it sounds like you're holding the roll to compensate for a yaw effect, then you trim. After trim it's unresponsive? It's unresponsive forever or just for a bit?
  14. Fully agree. Do what works :). Yeah regarding trim accumulation... That also happens when "tapping" trim instead of holding it. Hold the stick very slightly in one direction and keep tapping trim with controls indicator on... It'll accumulate.
  15. Hmm... I can't really agree with these bits... I always fly with Roll, Pitch and Heading channels enabled and I do understand what they do and how to use them. I never use Alt as it will try to kill you. It has succeeded a few times. Regarding Heading channel.... It only actually "does" anything if you have given it an actual heading to point you at. You do that by enabling route mode and selecting the desired WP or by turning on auto turn to target. Small chance it might do that in NAV mode but I'm quite sure even in nav mode you still need to have route mode turned on to make it actually try to point the airframe. I never use NAV mode though. Failing those... It just ensures that heading change is damped, but doesn't try to actually rotate the airframe. Also to note... Don't use Auto-Hover unless you're well outside of the AO. Enemy tanks will main gun you if you sit still. Learn to trim into a gentle "strafe" from cover to cover and adjust your altitude regularly.
  16. In case it's not clear (and because it wasn't specifically mentioned in this thread) Eagle Dynamics didn't make the Forrestal... Heatblur did. The same folks that made the F-14. Heatblur promised the Carrier as well. Not ED. I'm not trying to put too fine a point on it :).... Just trying to make sure the separation of 3rd party devs and ED is well defined. I see too many peeps confusing the lines between third party developers and ED.
  17. Also... Switch fuel tanks every few minutes to keep the aircraft more balanced.
  18. I likely mis-understood what I read then.
  19. I'm pretty sure they edge update refigured their system and the maps are now modeled based on a spherical earth. I think they also mentioned that they didn't or maybe wouldn't re-model Caucasus to take advantage... but as I recall all other maps save maybe Nevada are spherical.
  20. I'll check it out this weekend. So far steps to reproduce would go something like "Install win11, Install drivers, Install Steam with WMR/SteamVR, Install DCS, Set steamVR settings to allow reprojection but not force (normally I would force but I just wanted to see what the new build would do first), Setup room, run DCS, Set all my options the way I like but specifically graphics was just press "VR preset" and I may have turned off grass and turned tree distance all the way up, enable VR, restart DCS, press Ctrl+Prt Scrn, See 90, instant action free flight and see 60. Think "That's different..." and then look around and get 45 and 90 a couple times but mostly 60. Stare at the clouds a bit... Try to rip of an aileron in a 514MPH dive... fuck around.. find out... Hop out thinking.. "Sweet... I wonder if they changed something that made that happen..." Ask peeps here. I mean OK there may have been one or two more settings but in general it was super basic and I just wanted to get DCS up and running so I can take it further in the future. Only Caucasus installed... Was flying the TF51. I'll try to check settings this weekend and see if anything stands out if I get time.
  21. @netizensmithI'm using the in game DCS frame rate counter at Ctrl+Prt Scr. @speed-of-heat that's the thing... you say that :)... but multiple times I see 90 FPS in the menu (indicating that the headset is indeed at 90hz) and then in the cockpit see 60FPS rock solid. Same boot, same instance of DCS (not closing it and re-opening etc...). I'm not dumb friend I'm seeing the FPS lock at 45, 60 and 90. It used to be 45 almost always with the occasional 90 if I looked to the sky in a clear map. Now I get 60 most of the time, 45 sometimes and still 90 occasionally. The headset is at 90hz. I always check that by visually checking the WMR homespace environment. I put the headset on before I start DCS and take a good look at a light colored area (generally the white roof and the sky) and I can very distinctly see when it's at 60hz. I can see it flickers just a tad. I make sure it's running at 90 and check again.
  22. Then how do I get 90FPS in the menu and solid 60 in game? Same session... I just ask because before I would never get solid 60FPS between 45 and 90. Ever. Unless of course I was set to 60hz... but then I would never get 90 or 45... It would be 30 or 60.
  23. Did they change the way that reprojection works in W11?? I did a fresh clean install because my Sabrent rocket 4 died... :(((((( Super :((((( But fresh Win11 and frsh OS build in general so... whatevs... I'm running a Reverb G2 at 90Hz. I get 90 in the menu screen. I used to get a solid average of 42-55 frames in sim before, which of course would lock mostly at 45. Occasionally a touch lower or sometimes 90 if I look to the sky. this is in SP. Not sure about Frametimes... I checked when tuning but don't recall them specifically. Now I get a solid 60... I am not at 60hz... Again 90frames in the menu. Don't get me wrong... All sorts of things have changed. Drivers, OS, game settings, VR settings... But before this there was NO way to get 60FPS unless it somehow was randomly running exactly that framerate solidly or I was running the headset at 60hz (which I can't do because I don't like the feeling and slight flickering). So... Did they change it so it will run at 30/45/60/90 instead of only 45/90 with reprojection on??
  24. As far as I've been able to learn... You can gain Frame time with this, then gain clarity with re-shade... but then you're right back exactly where you started with Frame Time... So no you may as well run without them.
  25. I seem to recall the Syria has many more tree variations and sizes? It's been a while since I've played but I do recall noting that when I bought it.
