I love updates as much as anyone. What I love in particular are bug fixes. I love those even more than I do new content. But is it really that weird for ED to push things to sell? I mean... they have to make money, otherwise they will have to spend their time doing other things to be able to pay their bills. And if they are out mopping floors or whatever, we won't get new stuff. I realize I may sound like an ED salesman here, but realize that things could be much much worse. They are an independent developer. Imagine if EA would be responsible for our DCS goodnes. I mean, my god. That would be the end of it, wouldn't it? Last time I checked my Steam account before switching to the standalone version I had clocked over 1000 hours in DCS. In a year. And I fly only the A-10C. That is a ridiculously large amount of time for the $40-something I payed for the A-10C module. So much so that I actually felt bad about it and started buying the A-10C module again once per month, just to send a message to ED that that is where I personally want them to put their effort. So as much as I want patches and bug fixes, don't hate on them for wanting to make money. That's the only way we are going to be able to get more of the good stuff.

Yeah, those are a part of the Missile Warning System (MWS). You will find the same looking sensors on the wing tips. Read more here: http://warthognews.blogspot.com/2009/10/new-warning-system-has-been-identified.html

No way to skip or make time go faster unfortunately. I wish. And for random spawning late activation, use a trigger with: Once, Random 50% (or whatever), Group Activate.

You will be shot down within 17 seconds ;)

So I have another question! Is it possible to get when the JTAC starts lasing as a flag condition? Example: 1. Autolase script is activated and JTAC start looking for targets, flag 1=0 2. JTAC finds a target and starts lasing, flag 1=1 3. Target is destroyed or JTAC loses sight and stops lasing, flag 1=0

Considering the instant rock star status given to people "in the know" by enthusiast communities I'm always super wary when someone who supposedly "does it for real" takes a big place in any of those communities.

Tinted windshields in external model??
EasyEB replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hi watermanpc! I have tried to give it a yellow tint, but I can't get it to work. The texture for the external cockpit glass is a-10c-canopy-glass.tga.dds, located in the A-10.zip in Bazar/World/Textures. The original texture looks like this (without the Alpha-channel): So I think ED started out trying to make the cockpit glass tinted in the front. I do however think the sim only reads the Alpha channel, making the cockpit texture only differ in opacity, with no color tones. If you make the Alpha channel completely white, the canopy will look like a mirror, with no yellow. If you make the alpha channel darker it will be more transparent and not look like the sunglass-shade it has been since the introduction of 1.5. But I can not find a way to make it with a yellow tint. This is how far I got until I felt that I have no ideas on how to proceed. -
No, thousands of feet.

For your first question: Manual page 408. JMR (Jammer) Window. In this display window, up to eight characters can be displayed and indicate the selected jammer program and activity status. The left side of the jammer window indicates the status of the jammer. This can either be OFF, SBY (standby) or OPR (operating) depending on the position of the mode selector dial and if the aircraft is being locked by a radar. On the right side of the window the selected jammer program is displayed. These are pre-loaded and include: AIR. Program to counter most air-to-air radars. SAM1. Program to counter older-generation SAM systems like SA-3, SA-6 and SA-8. SAM2. Program to counter newer-generation SAM systems like 2S6, SA-16, SA-11, SA-10, and SA-15. AAA. Program to counter radar-directed gun systems like ZSU-23-4 and ZU-23 / Dog Ear. For your second question: It's all very secret in real life, so I'm not going to even guess how it should work. In DCS I think it jams the tracking, not the missile. Chaff and evasive maneuvers and terrain masking for good measure. For your third question: Not sure. I think it only detects missiles beeing fired, not tracking them in the air.

Yeah, that answers it. Thanks!

Greetings! I'm wondering if any of you fine ladies and/or gentlemen can tell me if there is any way to make the HSI CDI show Enroute scale when the NMSP is set to TACAN? Now, I'm guessing no. Because how would it know where the line is far away from it? But I could be wrong! Cheers!

Nitpicky Details/Quality of Life Suggestions for Makers
EasyEB replied to ajsarge's topic in Mission Editor
Whether it's coming up with scenarios, scripting or any other aspect of mission making, nobody starts out beeing an expert (or even talented) at it. Everyone has to spend the time learning that stuff. So "I'm no good at it" is no excuse, especially if you want to complain on mission builders for the entire post afterwards. Those missions you have been playing might just be that one mission makers next step towards a richer experience. I get that you are trying to be helpful by sharing your thoughts on quality, but I'm not sure how this thread is going to be useful for anyone. Because basically, what you do is lay down a list of your preferences, and as someone who has shared a few missions with this and other communities, those preferences are different for all players. Some like a full tank of gass, some don't. Some like more or less realistic armament, some just want to watch as many things as possible go boom. The list goes on and it covers just about every variable in the game. -
Since it's bound to come up: their alignment till degrade sfter a while of level flight. This will result in them turning white on the DSMS when selected. To remedy this, simply turn your plane a bit, or at least wiggle your wings.

Not known enough to be fixed :(

Because we have NVGs.

Computer is back up and man what a great addition to be able to make the JTAC stop lasing! Awesome work! When you use AutoLaseStop, is it stopped forever, or is it possible to get it to start again at a later time with the start command again?
