As long as you don't redistribute the mission I don't mind at all.

Blooze, I'm sorry to hear that. I have not heard of performance loss during the mission – has anyone else had big frame drops? I'll see if I can put togeather a light version of it for you.

baltic_dragon, Currently there are 6 A-10C, 4 KA-50, 2 UH-1 and 6 Mig-21bis. Let me know if you need more :)

Command unit then get them back to their waypoints?
EasyEB replied to EasyEB's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
Hi Fri13! This was answered and solved here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144085 -
I think the points sent over the datalink (which appears as "new tasking" and a red triangle) to your wingman has fewer numbers in the coordinates compared to what you are seeing in your mark points coordinates. Try this: -Put your SPI on a very specific point, say an enemy truck. -Send the position to your wingman using the datalink and note where your wingman got the point. -Then broadcast your SPI, have your wingman hook to it and slave his sensors to it and look at any differences in precision. In my experience, the datalink is useful for when sending multiple points to multiple aircraft. The points are not precise enough to drop a JDAM on it, but the recieving pilots gets their eyes/sensor on the target area. However, when you really need someone to find an exact specific target in the target area, broadcasting your SPI or using LSS is the only way.

This mission is made to create the feeling of beeing in an area where there is actually an ongoing conflict. In this, the first part of the mission, enemy units are patrolling the roads all over Georgia and Abkhazia. There are also many different tasks that can be randomly assigned via the F10 menu, so the mission will probably never look the same. The mission was made primarily for the A-10C, but it also works very well for the KA-50. It works great for both single- and multiplayer. BRIEFING Georgia has been destabilized and enemy forces have moved into the country in high frequency but low numbers. Their forces consists mostly of infantry and armored vehicles. You are part of a US lead task force sent to protect Georgian sovereignty. For now NATO has air superiority over the Georgian and Abkhazian airspace but Russia is still a no-fly zone. Use the F10 Radio Menu to request tasking. This will randombly select one of many tasks available in this mission. See images in the briefing material when referenced from the tasks. There are also enemy units patrolling the roads, activated at random - so check in with the JTACs circling the area for target designation. If you do not like the task, ask for a new one. If you stumble upon any bugs, please let me know. Hope you enjoy it! Download here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1430099/

I guess I'll have to make the engine noises my self then! Thank you for your reply :)

Hey guys! Is it any way possible to enable cockpit audio when in the F10 map? As it is now it only plays some warning tones, I'd like to hear the engines and such aswell. Small thing perhaps, but it would feed the immersion a bit (and the disconnect you get from looking at a map all quiet). Cheers!

Command unit then get them back to their waypoints?
EasyEB replied to EasyEB's topic in Mission Editor
Thanks alot Grimes! Worked as expected :) At first I didn't think it worked as the JTAC function did not kick in, but after the Predator had passed a waypoint (and thus activated the JTAC bit) everything was as it should be. -
Command unit then get them back to their waypoints?
EasyEB replied to EasyEB's topic in Mission Editor
Tell me more about this sorcery! -
Hi all! I have a question. Scenario: I have one JTAC Reaper circling an area (three waypoints with switch waypoint on the last one). Say I command that Reaper (Combined Arms) to bomb a target, then that unit stops acting as a JTAC (I figure it is because I give it a new command via Combined Arms orders). Is there any way to get that unit back into what it was doing before I gave it new commands? Cheers!

DCS Alive (a mission where the world feels populated).
EasyEB replied to EasyEB's topic in Mission Editor
Thanks for all your replies. I will check out your suggestions. On network stability - I've only tested this mission with one other person online and it worked out quite nice (except for the long loading times of course). Stratos, sure, I wont have time to remake it right now but give me a couple of days. With only ten groups the mission will not really be very fun though but I guess you want to look at how it's made? -
Hey guys, sorry to bring in another topic but I have some questions about A-10C modern armament that some of you might be able to shed some light on? So the LAU-88 is rarely ever seen on the A-10 nowadays, is it completely out of use? From what I can gather (which is spotty at best) is that the LAU-88 is not favoured because of drag and also that the Mavs mounted on the outboard pylon on the LAU-88 would damage the TGP when fired. It all seems reasonable, is it correct or are there more/other reasons for not using the LAU-88? The same goes for the TER for bombs I guess, you never see modern A-10s loaded with bombs on TERs. Have I understood it correct if it goes something like -Mavs only on LAU-117 and only on stations 3 and 9. -Bombs (both guided and unguided) never on TERs and only on stations 4, 5, 7 and 8. Sometimes on station 6 but never if something is mounted on stations 5 and 7. The only other instances I've seen bombs mounted on any other station than 4-8 seems to be for testing. What I don't know about this are the reasons for doing it like this. Simpler to load things this way? Aerodynamics? Any input would be much appreciated :) Cheers!

So, a bit of an intro: I play alot of Arma 3. For those of you who have not played it it's not really that far from how DCS works in terms of large map and user made missions. For Arma 3 there is a mod called ALiVE which is really a game changer, one of the funcions of that mod is that it makes the map feel populated (hence the name of the mod I guess) by spawning enemy units with tasks a set distance from the player, making the entire map filled with enemy, friendly and civilian units going about their business. For DCS there is no ALiVE (as far as I know) and the closest we get is the civilian traffic funciton (witch basically is what I want, but for enemy units). What I want is a mission that starts on the runway and I can either go about flying around scouting for enemies or get a task that I do not yet know what it is, maybe even mid-mission. So I have done a couple of things to emulate the randomness that I am looking for. I have placed about 950 enemy units spread over different groups doing different things. About 75% of the units are placed with waypoints (on road) that goes all over the map spread evenly over the entire map. Those groups then have a 33% chance of getting activated on mission start. This creates the feeling that a group of enemy vehicles can just happen to stumble in on where I am. The rest of the enemy units are placed in different configurations which I can activate via a "Generate task" function in the F10 radio menu that enables one of about 40 different tasks which includes "go here, find enemies" or "bomb this building" or "a friendly convoy is leaving from point A to point B and back again, provide escort/CAS" that plays great with the randomisation of where enemy units can come patroling. Finally there are UAV JTACs circling the entire map, if one would want to contact them for tasking. All this is great fun and I can keep up missions that go on for hours without me knowing what will happen at any given day, but it's really only randomisation of things that I am very well aware off. Also, at about 1000 units on the map the mission takes forever to load and editing it is really wonky with weird crashes and hickups happening. Now, my question is, is there any simpler and/or better way of doing what I'm after? It feels a bit forced and as if I'm really on the edge of what the DCS Mission Editor can handle. I feel that all this could be done via scripting instead of manually placing enemy units. If anyone is interested in the mission file you can get it here, but I warn you, it's big and not perfect in any way :) THIS MISSION HAS BEEN REMOVED Cheers!
-
Thanks for your answer! The mission I want this function for is my own mission which I play from the mission editor so I guess it's not simpler than me editing the time to match current time. In a dream world though, wouldn't it be cool if the missions could read current time, date and weather data and put it in the sim? One can dream :) Thanks again!
-
Oh you are correct! Sorry. It's just when you press stuff nothing happens until unpause. Sorry.
-
Hi all! Is it possible to, via scripting, make the mission automatically set mission time and date to computers current time and date? Cheers!
-
Also, sorry if this is obvious, make sure the game is not paused.

Hey look, I made a thing (GBU-12 retexture)! (Note: on the first screenshot Soopys Mavs are mounted. Snoopy, if you read this: Thank you.) Now if any one of you want your GBU-12s to look as cool as the ones dropped on ISIS, let me know. Great, thanks!

Hi guys! Is it possible to reskin the weapons for the A-10C? I'd like to make the Mavericks and GBU-12s grey like the more recent versions (irl) are. But before I go about learning how it works I'd like to kniw if it's even possible :) Cheers!

I have made a mission template like the ones you are talking about where I have about 900 enemy units (AA, armor convoys, truck convoys) filling out the world and giving it a feeling of beeing populated. Each group has a 33% chance of beeing activated at mission start (so sometimes there's lots and sometime there's few). The mission load time and the time after the in-cockpit briefing to actual mission start (when the mission is rolling the random and activating groups) is really long and the same goes for the after action report and such, but once the mission has actually started I don't notice any real difference. I could be wrong though, just a feeling I get.

Short answer: Yes. They are impossibly good.
