  1. I know there are some that have had this question before. Try a search, and see what you can find. I used the T.Flight Hotas X when I started out and I used the buttons on the throttle to work as modifier keys alot and simply tried to cover all the HOTAS commands available. It's a bit funky, but it works. I'm sorry, I don't have my setup saved, but that is what I think worked best for me.
  2. Make sure you jump in as spectator, spectate a vehicle or airplane, and then esc back to slot selection. Otherwise the script won't work.
  3. Dowload here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1842040/ I started fiddling with this mission to have something for a long night of flying, and I thought it turned out quite well so I figured I’d share it. It consists of a couple of different things to do, so you can play it for a short while or, as the name of the mission suggests, an entire day if you please. I made it for single player, but it should be even more fun for multiplayer co-op as well, though I have not tried it. It is for the A-10C only. The things you have available so far is: 1. Target practice on strafe pits and bombing locations with scorekeeping. The strafe pits and bombing locations on ranges 62B and 64B have scorekeeping, the strafe pits will count hits and the bombing targets (containers) will note how far from the target you hit. 2. Target practice on static targets marked by smoke and laser by JTAC. Ranges 62A and 64A have JTACs marking hard and soft static targets that will respawn after all targets have been destroyed. The JTACs can be activated via the F10 radio menu if you overfly them. This is to not keep the F10 radio menu cluttered during long flights. 3. Random tasking/missions. Via the F10 radio menu you can select “Request tasking”. This will pick one of currently eight different tasks consisting of varying CAS and CSAR missions with live BLUFOR and OPFOR. Many of the tasks have random elemets, so they will play out a little differently every time you play them. Most of these missions take place in the north western region of the NTTR. This mission is made to depict a slower paced tactical play, so if you use the random tasking function it may require you to fly for ten or fifteen minutes to get to a location, and once you are there it might involve some loitering time. DISCLAIMERS, PLEASE READ THIS - To get the Strafe Pits and Bombing Targets to count your bombing and gunnery result, you have to first enter the mission as observer, press F2 or F7 to observe any unit for about 10 seconds, until the “Ready” message is shown. Then press escape and go to Choose Airplane Slot. - This mission uses the 467th vFGs Range Objects, download them at: http://www.476vfightergroup.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=287 - The Request Tasking function might not give you a task after you have completed a couple of them, if so, hit the Request Tasking until you get a new task. This is because each task only can be activated once, and if it randomly selects an already activated result, silence ensues. I highly recommend you turn of allied flight reports, as they might spoil parts of some tasks. ————— CREDITS Speed and Grimes for their amazing MIST. Ciribob for his hard work on the JTAC function in the CTLD script and his Simple Range Script. Stuka for his 476th vFG NTTR mission template, this mission uses many of (but not all) parts of that mission. The 476th vFG for their Range objects. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with the community for us to use. ————— Bugs, errors, questions and suggestions Please let me know if you encounter any weird things or bugs. I’m also happy to get any input or questions you might have.
  4. Awesome, thanks!
  5. I think what we have, and will always have, is what resources permit. I think there are extremely few things that ED will not do because they simply don't feel like it.
  6. Greetings! I have a quick question, is it possible to have a flag set a value at a random time within a 30 (or whatever) minute time frame? Cheers!
  7. Of course the work arounds can help. They will not implement the new FLIR feature, but it sure can help. I think it's rude to call peoples effort to lessen the problem gibberish.

  9. A repair is not a reinstall. Try a repair first.
  10. April 1 today. Brace yourselves.
  11. Well, it's the INS that loses track when it's kept at a constant speed at a somewhat constant angle in a somewhat constant direction for a while. It gets bored during long flights and falls asleep because of no swoosh swoosh bang bang.
  12. They lose their alignment if you fly straight for a while. If you turn or just jiggle your wings they snap right back into action.
  13. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rVmwQvLklQ[/ame] A nice clip of the beautiful KC-135 refuelling some french 'rages.
  14. I play on 27" and really like it.
  15. I can chime in with nothing bad to say about Win 10.
  16. I don't know, I think a had the possibilty to spend bonus points last time I did this.
  17. Look, at around $40 for the A-10C module and around 1000 hours in a year that is $0.04 per hour. It is worth alot more than that to me.
  18. The Virginia Beach crash has to be the single worst example of a second engine bringing the plane back. :) Instead of "stall", let's go with non carastrophic malfunction (i.e one engine failing, but not enough to damage the second one).
  19. But do they though? Modern engines just up and stall I mean. I'm not saying they don't, just curious if there are any statistics covering the last 15 years or so?
  20. I heard an arguement somewhere (quoting statistics) that when modern engines fail, they fail so dramatically that the second engine is also destroyed, in most cases. And therefor the argument that the second engine will get the plane home no longer applies. Come to think of it I think it was some F-35 spokesperson that said it, and those guys will say anything to make their product look good. They are even worse than Apple ;)
  21. Greetings! I'm making a mission where the player is able to get random selected tasks via the radio menu. When the player hits "Request tasking" I've set it to select flag random between 1-6 (or however many tasks there will be in the end). When flag 1 is selected by the random flag, task 1 begins, and so on. As the player completes tasks, he/she is able to ask for a new task randomly selected. However, the chance of the same number/task beeing selected is quite big (and the tasks only activate once) I've found my self with a bit of a problem. Now, what I would want is for a flag that has been selected to not be eligable the next time around. How would I do that? I feel like my brain has shut down. Any help would be much appreciated!
  22. Here's a good start while you are waiting: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/documentation/dcs_a-10c_flight_manual_en/
  23. Good choice. Make sure you get the A-10C.
  24. First of all, welcome! One of us! One of us! It can be a bit overwhelming at first, but don't worry. Every piece will fall to place (or should I say be firmly put to place) in time. Just take it that way, one thing at a time. It will be alot easier when you actually have your stuff in place and sit there in the cockpit, with manual in hand and actually try it out for your self. Don't worry about frustrating people. Everyone is new in the beginning, and we've all been there. It's not a place you are in, and then out. At first you just kind of lie there and waddle around, then you start to crawl, walk, run and sooner or later fly. But it takes a while, some say forever, because you can always improve and learn new things. Concerning the versioning, it's discussed in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=162260 As for teamspeak, I wouldn't know but I think there are a couple general ones around. Shouldn't be too hard to find.
  25. I love updates as much as anyone. What I love in particular are bug fixes. I love those even more than I do new content. But is it really that weird for ED to push things to sell? I mean... they have to make money, otherwise they will have to spend their time doing other things to be able to pay their bills. And if they are out mopping floors or whatever, we won't get new stuff. I realize I may sound like an ED salesman here, but realize that things could be much much worse. They are an independent developer. Imagine if EA would be responsible for our DCS goodnes. I mean, my god. That would be the end of it, wouldn't it? Last time I checked my Steam account before switching to the standalone version I had clocked over 1000 hours in DCS. In a year. And I fly only the A-10C. That is a ridiculously large amount of time for the $40-something I payed for the A-10C module. So much so that I actually felt bad about it and started buying the A-10C module again once per month, just to send a message to ED that that is where I personally want them to put their effort. So as much as I want patches and bug fixes, don't hate on them for wanting to make money. That's the only way we are going to be able to get more of the good stuff.
