** F-14 Development Update: December 2018 **
Dutch Baron replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Keep it up HeatBlur!!! You guys are on the path of being the most honest and pure of heart developers, that many of us wish for in the DCS community. Can't wait for the release, but don't rush it..... like you said quality takes time and a few months more or less won't be the end of the world. Especially with such an iconic module and you can only make that first impression once. Merry XMAS and a Happy New Year in advance to you and your families, you've all deserved it with that awesome work done already! -
Hello virtual air combat enthusiasts, The Art of Warfare is a massive gaming community, comprising of many different gaming titles and thousands of active members. To get straight to the point, if you decide to be a member of TAW, we expect you to be active as well. The TAW DCS DIVISION today, nearly has 100 active members from EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST, NORTH and SOUTH AMERICA. Our setup is according to USMC ranks, where all members are expected to earn ranks and medals, by contributing to the community by helping out with training pilots, making missions and briefings, aircraft skins, website content, social media content and last but not least; the always very fun daily administrative tasks that are to be expected within an organized community. We have 3 different Battalions, that differentiate by either geographical location, or type of game play. These Battalions are as follows: - 52nd Battalion - Location: EUROPE and MIDDLE EAST - PvP style missions with all players combined and also with dedicated squadrons for international PvP Competitions, and an Aerobatics Team. They have a very Professional setup, but with having FUN and REALISM mixed in a way that can be easily combined with real life obligations. - 33rd Battalion - Location: NORTH and SOUTH AMERICA - PvP style missions with all players combined and also with dedicated squadrons for international PvP Competitions, and an Aerobatics Team. They have a very Professional setup, but with having FUN and REALISM mixed in a way that can be easily combined with real life obligations. - CVW-88 Battalion - Location EUROPE and MIDDLE EAST and soon USA - PvE/PvP style, Full Fidelity modules only, NAVAL Operations Oriented with 100% Hardcore Virtual Realism in their setup, procedures and missions. The requirements for joining this Battalion are a step higher than for the 52nd and 33rd Battalions, meaning you should already have experience in DCS and have a specific mindset, where the aim is to be as realistic as possible in all combat aviation topics. Before applying the CVW-88, please follow this link to read the requirements: https://tawdcs.org/battalions/hardcore/ We are always looking for more members to add to our big and active community, so our missions can be played with as many human players as possible, to create that awesome realistic and immersive feeling. We are currently looking for new Fighter pilots, Striker pilots and Helicopter pilots. We are also looking for members who love the strategic side of missions, so people who own Combined Arms (or are willing to buy it) so they can provide human JTAC, AWACS, ATC and control ground forces. There are of course limitations in DCS for the amount of players that can be hosted on a single server, but we have multiple high end servers at our disposal to accommodate numerous clients. If you join TAW DCS, as stated earlier, we expect from you to be an active member, who wants to help in any facet of a community, be friendly to all and treat every single person with respect and honor, but most of all; having fun doing realistic combat missions in the amazing and great Digital Combat Simulator software! Oh and one thing: this is NOT a game!! We expect you to attend your squadron’s weekly training sessions and our weekly larger mission events. Communication is KEY TO SUCCESS in TAW, a simple email, TAW.net website message, or Slack message (the communication program we use, outside of TeamSpeak) goes a long way in mutual respect, if real life comes in the way of your community life! So if after reading this, you are excited and motivated to join our TAW DCS Community, please go to the following website for more information and to sign up: http://www.TAWDCS.org This website is different from our main TAW website, which is http://www.TAW.net We wish you all blue skies and hope to hear from you!

Warthog HOTAS keybinds randomly stop in flight
Dutch Baron replied to wrd7105's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
Hi, You may want to check if you have the following lines filled in your DCS.log, basically your controllers (joytsticks and such) should initiate one time, but for still unclear reasons it could do it numerous times, the logs should look something like this: 2018-10-13 21:17:30.447 INFO INPUT: Device [Keyboard] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.447 INFO INPUT: Device [MFG Crosswind V2 {1AD0F3B0-11E3-11e8-8001-444553540000}] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.447 INFO INPUT: Joystick created[MFG Crosswind V2 {1AD0F3B0-11E3-11e8-8001-444553540000}], ForceFeedBack: no 2018-10-13 21:17:30.450 INFO INPUT: Device [Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {7B9A4200-572D-11e5-8002-444553540000}] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.450 INFO INPUT: Joystick created[Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {7B9A4200-572D-11e5-8002-444553540000}], ForceFeedBack: no 2018-10-13 21:17:30.469 INFO INPUT: Device [Throttle - HOTAS Warthog {7ADB85E0-572D-11e5-8001-444553540000}] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.469 INFO INPUT: Joystick created[Throttle - HOTAS Warthog {7ADB85E0-572D-11e5-8001-444553540000}], ForceFeedBack: no 2018-10-13 21:17:30.504 INFO INPUT: Device [Keyboard] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.505 INFO INPUT: Device [MFG Crosswind V2 {1AD0F3B0-11E3-11e8-8001-444553540000}] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.505 INFO INPUT: Joystick created[MFG Crosswind V2 {1AD0F3B0-11E3-11e8-8001-444553540000}], ForceFeedBack: no 2018-10-13 21:17:30.507 INFO INPUT: Device [Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {7B9A4200-572D-11e5-8002-444553540000}] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.507 INFO INPUT: Joystick created[Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {7B9A4200-572D-11e5-8002-444553540000}], ForceFeedBack: no 2018-10-13 21:17:30.526 INFO INPUT: Device [Throttle - HOTAS Warthog {7ADB85E0-572D-11e5-8001-444553540000}] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.526 INFO INPUT: Joystick created[Throttle - HOTAS Warthog {7ADB85E0-572D-11e5-8001-444553540000}], ForceFeedBack: no 2018-10-13 21:17:30.539 INFO INPUT: Device [Keyboard] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.540 INFO INPUT: Device [MFG Crosswind V2 {1AD0F3B0-11E3-11e8-8001-444553540000}] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.540 INFO INPUT: Joystick created[MFG Crosswind V2 {1AD0F3B0-11E3-11e8-8001-444553540000}], ForceFeedBack: no 2018-10-13 21:17:30.542 INFO INPUT: Device [Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {7B9A4200-572D-11e5-8002-444553540000}] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.542 INFO INPUT: Joystick created[Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {7B9A4200-572D-11e5-8002-444553540000}], ForceFeedBack: no 2018-10-13 21:17:30.560 INFO INPUT: Device [Throttle - HOTAS Warthog {7ADB85E0-572D-11e5-8001-444553540000}] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.560 INFO INPUT: Joystick created[Throttle - HOTAS Warthog {7ADB85E0-572D-11e5-8001-444553540000}], ForceFeedBack: no 2018-10-13 21:17:30.596 INFO INPUT: Device [Keyboard] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.597 INFO INPUT: Device [MFG Crosswind V2 {1AD0F3B0-11E3-11e8-8001-444553540000}] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.597 INFO INPUT: Joystick created[MFG Crosswind V2 {1AD0F3B0-11E3-11e8-8001-444553540000}], ForceFeedBack: no 2018-10-13 21:17:30.599 INFO INPUT: Device [Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {7B9A4200-572D-11e5-8002-444553540000}] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.599 INFO INPUT: Joystick created[Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {7B9A4200-572D-11e5-8002-444553540000}], ForceFeedBack: no 2018-10-13 21:17:30.618 INFO INPUT: Device [Throttle - HOTAS Warthog {7ADB85E0-572D-11e5-8001-444553540000}] created deviceId = -1 2018-10-13 21:17:30.618 INFO INPUT: Joystick created[Throttle - HOTAS Warthog {7ADB85E0-572D-11e5-8001-444553540000}], ForceFeedBack: no If you have multiple instances of similar looking text in a single sortie, you may have the same issue I have been having for more than a year. DCS last Update: Big problem !!!
Dutch Baron replied to FistofZen's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
Same here and numerous reports from my other squadron members. Would ED be so kind to reply to any of these multiple threads that have started since yesterday? -
Hi, In the Mission Editor you have the green 'fly/start' mission button, which is great. But I would like to see another button added called: TEST MISSION This button should simply start the mission like you would with the green button, but it should open ALL possible views (external views, all unit views, show all on map, F5, F11, F12) without actually saving your mission. This would prevent accidental left open views when uploading the mission to your server. Especially if you have an event with many players, some issue arises and you quickly adjust something in a stressful moment and then test it, but then you need to set all those settings open, save the mission (yes you can adjust settings and start mission without saving) and things may go wrong. Most of all, this would just make the tedious task of mission design a little bit easier and that's just great if we can achieve that.

WHOOOHAAAAA CIRIBOB!!! You fixed it man, 3 radios at once and no distortion at all! We in TAW thank you soooooooooo much, this will improve our events in unbelievable ways. I can't tell you how many transmissions got lost in the past..... hahahaha IN THE PAST YES!!!! ALL HAIL CIRIBOB!!!!

Will try tonight! I really really hope you nailed that 'feature' now Ciribob, would be a game changer if it's solved. Thanks for your continued efforts Ciribob!

Hallo all, After pretty much every update of DCS, any mission that exists and that has some alterations in the weapon/equipment inventory of an air base, will get corrupted and causes many weapons to be unavailable on an air base. Every time you need to manually adjust all these setting again, which is an immense and time consuming task, prone to errors as you manually adjust the inventory again. After you finally set the correct amount of weapons and selected ALL the types of weapons again, you need to MANUALLY select COPY TO and manually copy that inventory to each and every single air base that exists in your mission.... again a very time consuming effort that is prone to errors. And in my case it means doing at least 10 missions again, one by one, item by item..... This issue has been present for quite some time now and I'm afraid that all efforts to have that issue solved, by other forum members, have not resulted in a fix. So to solve this there are multiple ways, one suggestion I have is as follows: - Add an option in the COPY TO air base list, called COPY TO ALL. - Add an option in the COPY TO air base list, called COPY TO BLUE BASES. - Add an option in the COPY TO air base list, called COPY TO RED BASES. Even better would be if we finally get an option to create TEMPLATES with weapon type and amount settings, simply create a template and then use the newly added COPY TO ALL and BOOOOM: 10sec job and click Save Mission! I can't imagine this would take longer than a day for one developer to create, with this time spent, you will save your paying customers soooooooooooooooooooo much time and have them use your great program more to fly, than to adjust settings all day long. Thanks ED for answering. Hahaha that has never happened to me.... so I guess thanks all ED customers for listening then....

Hi Grimes, Thanks for your answer. I know we can achieve most of the suggestions, but still need scripts and especially for newer mission designers that is quite difficult. My suggestion was to simply have a little window where you can set these settings in the Mission Editor. With 3rd party scripts, combined with updates of DCS things may break over time. With a built-in system we all should be able to assume it will always work as intended, while making it easy for ANYONE to make missions with some more settings. I'm just trying to make the GUI as easy as possible, so people with no scripting background and who do not have 10 hours a day to start learning scripting, will also have the opportunity to create and design missions. We will then get more diverse, creative missions made by many more people, where now it seems a lot of people give up creating missions once they encounter scripts. We live in 2018, the wonderful age of computing, where adding a little window into a GUI should be a thing we can do, right?
-
Hello everyone, In the MultiPlayer environment there is no built-in penalty system when a client dies. There are a few 3rd party scripts that achieve these suggestions, but are not super easy to implement for most mission creators. A few of the suggestions to be implemented in the Mission Editor are: - Empty fuel tank after your first death, measured via the client's UCID, so cheating by disconnecting and reconnecting is not possible. So when first getting on the server, you should have full fuel. - Penalty timer, where you can set the amount of seconds a client will be blocked from entering a slot, again linked to the UCID. - Life counter, where in the Mission Editor you can choose the amount of lives a client may use in a set amount of time, again linked to the UCID. To improve the MultiPlayer Environment, this is a very cool and relatively easy to implement feature for the experienced ED developers.

@Icebeat If we ask for more things, it will take more time and effort for ED to create it, looking at all things they have going right now, this suggested ATC feature may never come if extra things are requested. With my suggestion, the complete base is already there, the F10 map, it just needs some graphical alterations and obviously code. For the experienced developers at ED, this should be a feasible option to be created in a relatively short time. If we ask for more AI stuff and other things, this whole thing will become a long term project, which will most likely end up in not being produced at all, if we even get a positive response from ED on this suggestion at all. Also, those items you are talking about have been asked for/reported in other threads, so no need to add them here.

Hello everyone, I suggested an ATC Feature in the F10 MAP view in this post: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=167060 After more than 2 years and absolutely no answer from ED or an ED representative, I thought that maybe a POLL would get some things started, if other customers would also fancy this ATC feature. I'm willing to pay money for this as a separate module and I'm thinking about 14,99 US Dollar for such a module, or more if it's absolutely awesome! A few of the features I'd like to suggest are: - Labels on clients/units with normal ATC info (speed, altitude, heading, name) - Add a line/arrow on the symbols to show direction - Use FOG OF WAR setting so only included radar installations etc. will pick up units - Add an option in the mission editor called: ATC. Just like FAC/JTAC etc. - Maybe add a REALISTIC (fog of war) and ARCADE (show all) option for testing purposes - DO NOT show ground units, just airplanes (or make it optional), since all ground unit names really clutter the F10 map view. - If ATC is enabled, or ATC slot is in use then STOP in-game AI ATC per coalition/airbase - Weather info per airport, in the form of a 'hover mouse over airbase' and a little popup with the info will show. It should show the wind speed + gusts, wind direction, QNH, and which RWY number is ACTIVE. - Different map colors (simple dark outlines), but also standard DCS map with ALT/SAT view. Now maybe a more difficult feature to create which would be awesome, but maybe for a later stage: - A view from any COALITION airport TOWER, where you can look around over the airport and use SCROLL WHEEL on mouse to zoom in/out. Of course prevent that the ATC can look at ENEMY airports. The complete base is already there, the F10 map, it just needs some graphical alterations and obviously code. For the experienced developers at ED, this should be a feasible option to be created in a relatively short time. This suggestion would make for many more people to be able to do ATC, no extra programs needed, and would possibly get more people to be interested in doing ATC. And if this is a standard option on ANY server, we immediately get the chance to expand the immersion on any server. Maybe a cool project for young developers who have an internship at Eagle Dynamics?
-
I have LotATC, but unfortunately it does not work flawlessly and can be a little difficult for non-experienced players. My suggestion would make for many more people to be able to do ATC, no extra programs needed, and would possibly get more people to be interested in doing ATC. And if this is a standard option on ANY server, we immediately get the chance to expand the immersion on any server. And ED could put the 'improved ATC' (which I've seen mentioned in several posts over the past 5 years) on hold for a bit, since we get this new immersive option with the suggested ATC Module, I would choose HUMAN ATC over AI ATC anytime. Would Eagle Dynamics be more interested if we would pay for this feature as a separate module? Well I'm willing to pay, let's say 14,99 US Dollars for an ATC module, if at least the features I suggested are in there. I think you guys at ED, with all your experience and knowledge in coding, would maybe get this ATC module out in a few weeks work. I am NOT saying you guys should have it out in two more weeks from today, just saying some money could be made for ED and in return you can make a lot of customers happy and it would possibly take not too much time for ED to develop. I don't know if you have internships at ED, maybe get a group of young developers to start this project? And it would be sooooooo nice if a representative of ED would at least acknowledge this request, by saying we see it and we will or we will not think about it, just a simple message would be extremely nice.... Right now it's just an endless waiting game and the only player in this game seems to be me hahaha. I appreciate ANY answer from ED or ED representatives!

Please check if you have SSAA turned on in your DCS main menu settings, if YES, turn if OFF and try and see if this helps for you. This is still an unconfirmed issue (as far as I can see) by Eagle Dynamics and has been reported in several different threads.
-
Hello all, I was dreaming the same dream you all have..... Since we don't have the actual Vietnam map, I recreated Vietnam in the Caucasus map. If you have a little imagination and flip the Caucasus map 90 degrees left, there are some quite cool similarities to Vietnam. I am working on making this a dynamic map, where also a persistent campaign would be possible. As of now, the mission is dynamic in a sense that most units never show up in the same location at mission start. But unfortunately, after mission restart we start from square one. I hope to have a proper system running soonish... Check out our briefing to see what it's about: https://tawdcs.org/2017/12/29/rolling-thunder-cold-war/

I have been experiencing the same issue for a very long time now, that is why I suggested the following feature in the DCS Wish list: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=217674 If you think this feature request is a good solution as well, I suggest you let ED know by responding in that thread. Obviously a complete fix for the issue would be better, but even if all is fixed, I personally think this feature request is a good option to have anyway.

Airfield icons disappearing from map And Grid names floating
Dutch Baron replied to FAB Maverick's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
Check if you use the option SSAA in your DCS main menu settings. If it's on, turn it OFF and see if that fixes it for you, it did for me. -
Hello ED and DCS players, Since there are some issues with populating active servers in the MP servers list, where not all or random amount of servers are visible, I have a suggestion to make that a little easier to overcome. So we already have the option to mark any server as FAVORITE, but IF that specific server, for whatever reason, does not show up in the list, we can not choose that server, even if it is actually online, but simply does not show up. So what if we have a separate little list where ALL favorited servers are listed, you could simply click that server you want and it will connect, depending on the status of the server you will either enter or it will show offline. This is pretty much the same process as CONNECT BY IP, since that function does what I suggest, but then via IP ADDRESS and not server favorite name. It also saves time waiting for the MP list to refresh, since you can immediately choose the server you want and start flying faster, if you of course have the server you want in your favorites list. Blue skies, everyone!
-
I have the same issue, the fix for it is to turn SSAA off in the DCS settings menu. Though this is not a fix but a workaround, for me however turning SSAA off gives very bad jagged lines. In the Mission Editor there are NO issues, only when in game online or even testing a mission in ME. I really hope ED can acknowledge this and work on a fix, because I won't fly without SSAA and doing a mission with this issue makes it extremely hard. I will do a proper bug report with logs and all as soon as I have time. Thanks!

Hello everyone at Eagle Dynamics, I would like to thank you all for finally including us, the DCS server hosts, to share our server specifications and hopefully together, we can achieve an even better multiplayer experience! TAWDCS.org (The Art of Warfare - TAW.net) is running the exact same servers in both Europe and North America, even from the same hosting company. Our server specifications: Intel i7-6700K 4c/8t @ 4GHz 64GB DDR3 1333MHz 1x480GB - SSD Onboard GPU - Intel HD 4500 Operating system: Windows 2012 R2 Network: 1 Gbps / 250 Mbps As this is a server without 3rd party GPU, we have 3D Rendering turned off. Our server has not crashed for 9 months at least, DCS itself is running fairly good, we do have warping/desync/disconnect issues now and again. We are mainly running DCS Open Beta.
