I agree to an extent.. My main concern is the selling of normandy map and assets separately. There seems to be no good reason to do this at all, from a monetary or gameplay perspective. For Normandy to be at all realistic or to make sense, you are going to want to purchase those units. If you are playing any other map, the modern buildings etc will make those units being present make 0 sense and you will find few if anyone uses them there. I don't see the logic at all at selling these separated. The world war 2 units should be a free sim upgrade, and Normandys price should be increased to reflect the development time.

Why de dont have a Mig-21 Changelog/Update Máster list
Deathbane replied to Esac_mirmidon's topic in MiG-21Bis
Exactly. The changelog is important to know exactly what has gone out. Something can be patched, but that patch might be held up, not go out, or something might miss release. Proper changelog on each patch release is best to understand what exactly has changed. I am relatively happy with Mig after last patch. Still some improvements to be made, but it's in a better place than it was six month ago. Alot of this issue could be fixed with better and more consistent communication. Visibility on upcoming features for the mig feels non existent for example, other than a very brief intermittent forum posts. -
Ground targets very difficult to spot in VR
Deathbane replied to ayousry's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
You can zoom in vr, im quite staggered more people dont know about this. Just set it up in options menu, and you can spot as good as on standard hd monitor. Note as well if you are properly briefed, you shouldnt need to overly identify the target either. Pre flight prep is very important, but again something alot of people dont do. -
Our squadron tested ecm pod a few patches back and it worked fine in at least two jamming modes on at least one program.

No offence meant with this Cobra, but i'll believe it when I see it. I love the Mig-21 but with the test binary issue, plus alot of outstanding and awkward bugs(historically missiles, radar), its sitting in the hangar until these patches drop. Purely out of frustration. I can appreciate you guys needed to get the Viggen out the door but it's out and successful now. Time for some TLC for the Russian bird with a solid focus on QA. Plenty of guys here who would offer to help QA fixes if you need a hand or additional eyes on. My first thing to note would be: patch notes. Please provide proper patch notes for mig, or even note if there are no changes. It would help with transparency over this module and its maintenance.

This sounds less your fault and instead smacks of bad mission design. We have enough varied aircraft in DCS mission designers could easily start making missions with distinct assets on both sides, or at least reducing the number of shared assets... Its ok to say 'identify the paintjob' but by that point you may a well be committing taran attack against the target. This has only become more critical the more assets we get that have no IFF capability.
-
Debateable, if you look at stats from ACG server and the Viggen demo competition a few weeks back. F5 however is an excellent quality module, and is a part of imho the most fun generation of aircraft. Id go for Mig as its capable of more multirole action, carryinga greater payload, and has a much more competitive top speed and weight to lift ratio.

No problem, got there in the end. Should have searched further first! But yes, campaign is awesome, i like what you have done with the story, briefings, the lot. Having it fully voice acted is a MAJOR plus. Looking forward to continuing once the triggers are fixed.. one of the main reason I stopped working on my campaign was due to these kinda bugs.

So im sat on the taxiway, and after said event happens (no spoilers) i am sat waiting for anything over the radio. Im getting no calls on either the ATC nor SU-25 flight requency giving me directions as what or where to go after this. So im entirely stuck! Radio is on and i can tune to both frequencies (162 for sochi,186 for the SU-25 flight) and I get nothing from anyone. Any help? I know im tuned to right stations as im getting signal strength returned. *EDIT* NVM, read this is caused by an ED bug... great work on the campaign been really enjoying it, one of the best for DCS. Pity this bug has surfaced as it makes it unplayable for now.

Yes, should be fixed and I can't see it technically taking a long time at all.

See more logs from dogfight test dcs.log.txt

Will try and get more logs as issue reoccurs, thank you very much for your response. Ps just seen Roland has attached some binaries, so we'll swing with them.

As title, mass disconnection of Mig-21 aircraft is occuring in multiplayer. This seems to only affect the Mig-21, SU-25A aircraft do not seem affected. This has happened over multiple custom missions in our internal campaign over the last week. The campaign is now unplayable with our primary aircraft due to this bug. Bug tracker report: https://leatherneck-sim.mantishub.io/view.php?id=419 I know you are putting in alot of hours on this and new projects, but you need a better QA process and to liaise closer with ED to prevent these game breaking issues. Severe quality issues are something unfortunately Mig-21 and DCS community as a whole is coming to expect by this point.
-
This actually really bugs me. You look at su25, mig29a and you do not see this issue whatsoever. It would be nice if this could get a quality touch up at some point as its very jarring in vr.

The Interesting Missions Generator
Deathbane replied to emolina's topic in User Created Missions General
I could see this being an amazing 'cargo transport' mission builder for say, the Mi8 with a bit of work. Also good excuse to fly more familiarisation flights, so nice idea! -
MiG-15/F-86 Campaign Announcement
Deathbane replied to Apache600's topic in The Museum Relic Campaign
Really looking forward to acquiring this on payday. Can we get confirmation if the sabers is required? I have no interest in this aircraft personally and just want a quality Mig 15 campaign. It's not a total deal breaker for me if it does require it but I can see it being for a lot of people. -
I have a damn good machine and i can see this FPS problem in newer patch but im getting it in alot of planes. Not a Mig 21 specific thing i dont think. Towns etc have always been badly optimized i think.
-
Seems good to me, apart form IR seeker heads being crazy good FOV. That and having trouble with ATC, as others they dont seem to like responding after engine has been started (using correct push button, cross checked radio settings) Loving the radar changes, seems far more accurate, same with RWR as i get used to it.
-
Great list, as far as fixed wing goes. Doubt we will see f22 or 35 anytime soon though.

For the price of a fully released dcs module i expect.. - Complex aircraft modelling with AFM/PFM, not SFM. - Ingame Tutorial Missions - Instant Action Missions - A basic but functional campaign that shows off the aircraft - A thorough, complete manual that draws on the original RL one as far as is as possible taking into account simulation limitations. Using 'its a beta' has become by word for releasing half baked products. And that doesnt hold when Beta status is removed.. Im glad Belsimtek have learnt from past difficulties and have adjusted their roadmaps accordingly. Looking forward to the F5e.

To add to the former: Tried out locking the Mig-21 from different angles and ranges, with SU-27 and Mig-29 A Even extremely close, with 3 KM, could not get all four lights to lock with continuous tone as previously. Frequency did rapidly increase however showing the RWR was working in some capacity. If this is in line with the remodeled behavior (i remember some talk about the old solid lock out not being realistic) thats great.
-
I voted no. In the end there are alot of aircraft id love to see before this. Su17, Mig 23/25/31, countless attack helicopters etc. A proper f16 (which i know is coming so use it as example only), draken etc Plenty more important modules to develop. Once more holes are filled in current modern theatre then its time to branch out, and i think third party devs have important role to help develop that.

Doh, no it was 5km, as I measured it using map in metric coordinates. Just need to actually be awake. Tonights testing got consumed by an impromptu game of Stellaris...
-
Glad we could help with the IFF! Gathered that this was the case, but I'd have expected the RWR to be much more intense with Mig21 behind me, painting me at 5km. Granted thats a little anecdotal. So need looking into further on my part. Granted it was 2am when i was testing this hotfix the other night. Will try more extensive testing later with various air/ground radars, and report what we find.

Tried this out on version 1.5.3.52724. Radar does appear to be vastly better, can now lock other aircraft that are co altitude.. Ground clutter etc also seems to act as expected. However there are some bugs.. RWR behaviour seems suddenly inconsistent. Even when hard locked by another mig 21 within 5km from multiple angles, the RWR never fully sounded with all 4 pips. IFF system switches, on right wall panel are no longer toggleable and IFF as a whole has seemingly ceased to work. Good job on radar and cant wait for kinks to be worked out with avionics.
