  1. This is a debate over preference. Half the people arguing against an unrealistically smooth HUD update rate are probably (like me) displeased with the incessant false medical claims that people use to get what they prefer. It's like the gluten free movement, when only a fraction of a percent actually have Celiacs. Show me a motion sickness or seizure concern that is not already grossly overshadowed by the use of head tracking and VR in a game that suffers from frequent FPS shifts and has lots of sudden perspective changes. What you do in trying to justify every want with a medical need is hinder those with actual medical needs. They end up restricted from certain activities due to their conditions because of so many specious claims requiring special consideration for that condition. If you just call it like it is and say we want a smooth HUD because we like it aesthetically, fine. But I don't think HB should include it in EA if it could cause any delay or if it would likely introduce additional bugs. If they can easily put it in as an option, sure thing. Have at it. But I'd rather they not have to spend significant time on that option.
  2. Definitely going to buy it with the expectation that it will see only SP and limited private MP use. Now, once WWII assets are more filled out, and some of the more adventurous ME gurus get involved, I imagine there will be a pretty sweet Afrika Korps scenario up and running using select parts of the SOH map as pretend Tobruk, El Alamein, etc.
  3. Help, help! The server is down, and I don't know what to do with my Sunday night!
  4. I'm guessing this is ED netcode problem, but I suffer severe freezes when certain people join or disconnect from the server. Upwards of 60 seconds of frozen screen, then once they finish timing out, the game continues like nothing happened, and then I see the message that someone disconnected or joined. Anyone else having this issue? Is there anything I can do on my end to alleviate this? I can't fly the A-10C or F-5 very much because I end up CFIT on almost every freeze whenever I'm engaging something.
  5. Like in AAR, when you are trying to hover and start drifting, just work to stop the drift. After you've arrested the drift, then add input to try and reposition back to where you were (if so desired). Remember that from a stable position, everything you put in (control-wise), you have to take back out (usually with opposite control input) - this comes from my 60S pilot officemate when I would ask him loads of "how-to" questions with the helos.
  6. There are no true underground bunkers in Dcs and no BLU or paveway series bunker busters. Suspect it's either a bug or you are talking about the grass covered bunkers. But the person calling it out says a Huey could not spot it, suggesting to me it was a bug. The grass covered bunkers would be very noticeable while being lased/smoked.
  7. What changed, then? I'm having no issues with missiles destroying aircraft using the F5s AIM9p5, the Su27s R27s and R73s, the F15s AIM7s and AIM9Ms. But I put 2 530s and a magic into an F15 and all he got was a fuel leak. These were WVR visually confirmed hits. So, is the ED bug only affecting the Mirage?
  8. All this plus the neutral mechanic just make it easier for the side that has the best strikers. Red sides only advantage was fast transport helos, but now that's mitigated even further.
  9. Defenders as in the troops that spawn after closing a base? Is the goal to make it even worse for the helo pilots? They SAW gunners already shoot down Mi8s like they are made of paper, and their aim is impeccable.
  10. I am in a terrible predicament! I'm in bed at 2am reading this and can't turn on the sound for fear of waking my wife. Do I try to sneak out of bed without rustling the covers to much and play the videos on low in the bathroom with the door closed, or do I go all the way down to the basement and crank it up as they should be heard?
  11. Never had that happen. I suspect you are in game mode. Do you have a FPS type radar display somewhere on the side of your screen?
  12. Again tonight, 530D and magic both hit the F15, some white smoke (fuel leak) and no other problems. This is borked. Seems like FC3 craft have up armored quite a bit.

  14. I've had issues with Magics against the F15 and A10A. I have a video of the former, if desirable. Was not aware this was a widespread issue. I suspected something more nefarious after it happening the umpteenth time on a particular server with a particular player. Glad it's more likely a bug than anything else.
  15. Can anyone tell me (because I am at work and too lazy to spend Google fu time) what I would have been hearing circa 1992 to 1995 out of Miramar? All Bs by then? I looked up every time, and still wish I could see one in the sky just one more time. Also, feeling the vibration in your chest when they were really pushing the air was somethin else.
  16. Potential problem at FARPS. Can deploy troops next to single pad, and some can end up inside the pad, making them invincible to player and AI guns. Suspect they are counted as defenders, making the FARP uncapturable. Happened last night at Arhipo with one mortar unit with tube poking out but unhittable by manually aimed door gun and standard AI troops.

  18. I'd go desktop. With the HOTAS and pedals and any other gear, it's not going to be a mobile system anyways, and your flight SIM deserves it's own computer :)

  21. Mumbles, thanks for doing that. The 3D/ blueprints will help immensely. Funny you should mention, I'm currently swamped at work and looking to buy my first house, so a bit behind where you are :) The only requirements I gave to my wife is that there must be room for a full F14 cockpit and I must have money left over to buy power tools and DCS modules.
  22. Will do. Thanks for the responsiveness. I suspect MattE is right in that I'll just have to play with deferred shading off. Even just after sunset makes it way too dark. Will post screenshots as I get them this week.
  23. Something's gotta give. Logged on two more times today, still night. Last logon about 10 minutes ago, it was after sunset, going into night. Red does not have enough assets with NVG capability, or maybe I'm just a dolt and can't find it. Su-25T is useless at night, even with Mercury LLTV (2.5 lighting in cockpit makes it nearly impossible to use, and it's the only thing you can fly by, head down the whole time). Ka-50s at Urup FARP are too far from rearm station to swap out HMD to NVGs, so you can't take off and safely get over to the rearming station, so Ka-50s are useless at certain FARPs. M2000C can be used, but no NVGs. Just gotta fly by instruments and HUD. The only aircraft I can fly at night on Red side is the Mi-8, and sometimes you just want to do something else (especially when it's you vs. multiple F-15s all the live long day). Is there some lighting fix I can have so that cockpit switches can be seen and maybe, just maybe, I can get some NVGs to see where the heck I am going? I wouldn't mind it so much except that it has been night time every single time I've logged on in the past four days. My RNG luck just sucks, I guess, but it's not very playable at night given the issues.
  24. I like night missions, once in a while. Just unlucky I guess because it's been night every time I log on for the past few days.
  25. I will stay red forever if they get F5 "mig28" and F14A (when it releases).
