  1. I think this is actually due to a bug/connection issues. Many people get booted when they get killed. Also, who cares about personal stats?
  2. I still make mistakes sometimes in the F5, mostly when its a friend and enemy fighting with missiles flying. Im trying to get a shot off to save my buddy. One mistaken radio call interpretation or unhappy coincidence on the IFF query (e.g., are you flaring, in a left turn, in AB, etc) can lead to FF. If I don't see a fight going on, I will usually get close enough to see the wing sweep to ensure it's a Su27 instead of an F15. Longer shots will usually miss anyways. Also head to head, I wait for enemy to shoot R27 and fire my AIM9p5 right after.
  3. You rock, Sir. Now....to get a Mig28 on red side...even if I have to fly it out of Anapa.
  4. I'm done - please switch me to RED side when possible.
  5. Edit: nobody listening, doesn't matter.
  6. Huh, people can look up my stats? Dang, that'll be embarrassing. But at least I know I'm winning one metric: taxiway takeoffs. I dominate the charts in that category.
  7. I think you just hit on why the flaps and trim wheels are next to each other, and accounts of 109 pilots mention rotating them both together with one hand.
  8. Can these be fired in TWS? Big advantage of F15 is not spooking adversary before pitbull.
  9. I'm curious as to what data are available. Can you pick out usage statistics for aircraft, weapons, etc? Player losses by type of enemy weapon? Average time to close/capture on a particular base (time from first attack to close/capture) Depending on what can be parsed, there might be a way to fine tune some of the force structures to adjust behaviors (e.g., FARP A switches sides 5 times per day with avg time to close being 3 minutes, conclude highly contested area and too easy to kill everything, so maybe add some more defenders, or a nearby SAM site).
  10. I always wondered about vertically stabilized, mechanically scanned arrays. If you are physically bottoming out the array, but your nose is pointed above the horizon, then pointing the nose lower should lower the scan zone, correct? Is this the way it works in DCS? This is how I imagine it working (and this may be way wrong): Set at 0, array attempts to point at the horizon? When pitch changes, array tilts to maintain look angle pointed at horizon. But at some point, if you nose up too much, the array will physically bottom out and will now start looking above the horizon. But, if you bring the nose back down, it will regain alignment with the horizon. Similarly if you set the array angle to the max downward angle, it will try to maintain that angle relative to the horizon. If you pitch up from horizontal, the array will remain physically bottomed out, and the look angle will rise closer to the horizon. But if you nose over again, the look angle will come back down. Now, with nose level and array physically bottomed out, if you nose down, the look angle of the radar should not change, but the array will physically no longer be bottomed out. So, there is a max look-down angle, but it's relative to the horizon, not to your aircraft?
  11. Weird situation tonight - Batumi last blue base. Had fuel, at 87%. Had been flying F15s, Gazelles, and Hueys out of there no problem. Then when I respawned after accidentally fragging myself (funny story about booster delay on the AIM 7), I couldn't rearm or refuel in any aircraft at Batumi. I didn't relog, but suspect it might have been because of the suicide? Maybe the ground crew was waiting on my psych eval before letting me go up again... Air defenses were working when I got on tonight.
  12. If they had the time and resources, this is one option I'd be interested in. That being said, I'm always wary because more options means more bugs, but it would be cool to start recognizing calls in Farsi. Sure, you'd need to read subtitles for the first few months, but I'm guessing you could familiarize yourself with the limited set of words and phrases that will be repeated. I look at it as a crazy fun way of doing a very limited form of a Rosetta Stone language course. You can get a feel for it flying the Russian birds and talking to tankers and ATC. You start to get an ear for some of the phrases, if not the specific words.
  13. Only took a cursory glance at data so far, but very excited to dig into them later this week. As an analyst by day, it warms my heart to see you guys collecting and evaluating these data. Providing it to us is really a boon. I very much appreciate the effort.
  14. Air defences that are integral to bases have not been working the past couple of days. Player built Kubs do fire. Dramatic map shifts have been both sides capitalizing on a total lack of active defenses.
  15. I think if you took away the A10c and both sides used the Su25T, blue would lose more often than it wins, despite the numbers superiority.
  16. Based on what I've seen, I thought they already do.
  17. You are right. The f15 needs to be restricted to one external fuel tank, max.
  18. Sierra, you are ignoring any sort of comparison of capability and simply using categorical arguments only you agree to. Here's the straight dope, having flown both platforms in this server, 104th, and others. The AIM7 is superior to the R27 in every way. F15 has a better radar than the Su27. F15 has a BVR advantage here, even without 120s. AIM9M has better CCM. It is longer ranged. The R73 has better off boresight capability. F15 has better vertical scan, Su27 has HMD. HOBS successes are such a small fraction of engagements that I'd take the F15 over the Flanker if there was anything important on the line. WVR comes out in a wash if we are looking at this coarsely, but still advantage goes to the F15 in most normal engagements. The F15 carries more fuel, has better STR, has a better radar, integrated ECM, and has higher top speed. It carries two fewer missiles if the Flanker ditches the ECM pods. F15 is the plane to beat. It surpasses the Flanker in nearly every arena, but with the current loadout restrictions, the two are close enough to make it come down to the pilot 95+% of the time.
  19. The A is the only one that buzzed the Miramar tower (and maybe an Admiral's daughter), so the A is THE definitive Tomcat.
  20. You contend that the Su27 has a significant advantage because of an edge case? How many times does a flanker even get a successful high off boresight shot? The F15 still has better BVR capability than the Flanker with it's AIM7s, and you want 120s??? How many times does faster and longer range and more CM resistant AIM7 (compared to r27) kill the Flanker before in SRM range? How often does more CM resistant AIM9M kill the Flanker before it can get off a sufficient number of R73s to punch through the flare wall of the F15? The F15 can turn as tight or tighter, will win in a STR fight, has better radar, carries more fuel, carries just as many weapons unless you wisely ditch the ecm pods in the flanker, and can go faster. What more do you want? Have you even flown red side? Done any engagements vs F15s with the Flanker on this server?
  21. I'm not knowledgeable on the details, but I suspect the MLWS would not be very effective in A2A scenarios. Coverage area and range probably isn't very large. I wonder if what we have on the Hawg is accurate in terms of picking up launches from (sometimes) many miles away.
  22. 1. Blue already has way too many advantages. We just rolled over 4 bases with a single A10C last night. 2. AIM7 already outclasses the R27 significantly. You shouldn't also expect to have far superior SRMs when a fair equivalent is available for both sides. The F15 still outperforms the Flanker in almost every scenario. 3. If we wanted to restrict things for more fairness, the A10C would not get a TGP, the F15 would not be able to carry 3 bags, and the Mistral would not be able to call in bombers. Also, the Su27 would get datalink. The R73 OBS capability is rarely decisive based on the sheer number of blue players and the fact that the AIM9 will reject CM better and kill the Flanker regardless if the F15 doesn't get surprised. I play both red and blue, switching every round or two, and blue has it way better than red. 120s would not only be overkill, but they would also destroy all the fun WVR engagements, as they were designed to do. BVR is boring and very repetitive.
  23. I'm way more excited for the A. If I could have any model tomorrow, that would be it. I'd buy the D, but it doesn't heat my undercarriage like the older birds. I know it's blasphemy, but after the A and B, I'd rather have an A6 and then an F111.
  24. You can clear markpoints without cycling the CICU. Will have to go back and muck with it to remember the pages to select.
  25. Probably are more than 60k DCS players in the past 3 months. Do the math on module price vs how much it takes to run the studios.
