  1. Any chance of throwing a WWII bird in there? Would love a Bf-109 or a P-51.
  2. I fly the F5 almost daily. Black Shark is great if you want the A10 of helicopters. F5 is great if you want pure sex appeal. Both are fun in their own ways. I prefer the F5. The Black Shark has more to do, capability-wise and more features. The F5 has fewer capabilities but is more difficult to master because nothing is automated (e.g., must learn bombing tables and practice bombing runs over and over to be proficient for dumb bombing).
  3. Never looked up which squadron(s) were there. I was in San Diego as a kid and remember F-14s flying over my house all the time. I loved it when they would be low and fast enough to feel the vibrations in the air rather than just hear them. Given that they were operating solely out of Miramar from '92-'93, I was definitely watching them a lot. I, too, have found a favorite squadron. Thanks!
  4. If an F-16 was developed, I'd want it to be the F-16N Adversary hotrod!
  5. A must have for me.
  6. F5 models limitations from flight harness.
  7. If they fix RET and radar then this bird becomes quite perfect in my mind. It's already my favorite module to-date. Like an old corvette. Not the fastest or best handling, but a hell of a lot of fun to drive.
  8. We have had proximity fuses on AA shells since WWII. I would be surprised if any air to air missile with a HE/frag warhead has ever been made without some sort of proximity fuse.
  9. Are there any assets that are brightly lit at night for which the lights can be turned off? I want to make a night attack "blow up a power plant" mission and black out a small city as a result.
  10. Found out the problem: Apparently, if you put more than one LHA in a group, the game does not like to run. Not yet confirmed, but told by a buddy of mine who had the same problem. Might be worthwhile for some others besides me to try and confirm, then we can report to ED.
  11. Built a simple sandbox training mission in Open Beta. It routinely CTDs within about a minutes of loading. I can usually get flying before this happens. I tested shooting down the KC-130 to verify the respawn scripts are working correctly - they are working without problem. In one instance, I was able to shoot down 2 KC-130s and see them both splash before I got CTD. Any ideas on what could be causing this problem? I still have more to add, but until this bug is sorted, there's really no point expanding on this mission. Training All.miz
  12. That last part of the vid with the Harrier tumbling from out of view high into the sea had me laughing out loud. Great vid!
  13. This plane is very fun to fly. I rarely have as big a smile unless there's a lot of ordinance involved. I spent most of the night just flying with no stores playing with transition from hover to flight and back. This thing is a blast! I'm using the left throttle for nozzle axis and right throttle for thrust. Works really well, because the feel starts approaching that of the P-51 throttle controls. Using the nozzle angle to help move fwd and back, you need to increase thrust when you have a lower nozzle angle, so both throttles go forward a bit - you keep altitude but the plane starts moving forward. Same with backing off, put the nozzles more vertical and reduce thrust a bit. Landed on the FFG-7 on my first try, but I need a LOT of work on precision. I had a few close calls, and my approach was anything but consistent. I think I'll be on the virtual aerobatics server a bit to fool around with everyone else this weekend. ETA: I really want to commend RAZBAM on the choice of making this aircraft. It's so unique relative to everything else we have in DCS. There's a novelty that may dull a bit in the coming years, but never be extinguished. I anticipate this bird being a regular in my rotation simply because of how interesting and fun it is to fly. Oh, and I just got the answer I wanted for my question during the 59th event: tnvc7Yd4E2Y 9Ad4vR7wXOM
  14. Confirmed, raising and lowering gear handle when on the ground will clear the alarm (both audible and visual). I'll get a track of this tomorrow when I can. Didn't save the track, but got shadowplay recording: KMx1JNiHrLs
  15. Landing gear warning will not stop even after landing gear deployed. Continues when respawning in new aircraft. Seems similar to gazelle sound bug we had a while ago. Will post video shortly...
  16. Definitely going to build the back seat as well. I have hopes to play RIO for my daughter as she flies (when she is old enough). I plan on running two PCs - rear will use VR and front will use projector and trackIR. Thanks for the great info. Going to start on the seat first, per recommendation while I also update the panel designs. I figure 4 or 5 year build overall from start to finish. My daughter is now 16 mos, so its going to be perfect timing.
  17. Considering the title, are you saying it's hard to use the F5 at night? It's a daytime, fair weather aircraft. Not meant for low vis ops.
  18. I don't like the idea of mavericks being allowed. Then the A10A becomes the do everything aircraft. It's already potent enough. What would Red get in return? Mavs only on the Viggen would be a disadvantage due to module proportional distribution. Plus, it takes the fun out of things. I have found a great new appreciation for mk82 slicks. Only request is to tone down the AAA. Right now these emplacements are as good or better than shilkas.
  19. BuzzBomb self-frag was my favorite part of the event. We need a slo-mo replay with the John Cena music in the background for that. Amazed he managed to crash land it with no engines, no rudders, and most of the wings in tatters.
  20. I'm busy hugging a toilet bowl after (I presume) getting sick from my daughter's play date yesterday. But I'm going to do my best to be there in another hour. Have you guys added the special stuka dive breaks I requested so that my F5 will pull out of its suicide dive after I black out on the 85 degree bomb run? :)
  21. More than generous of you to provide us with info, whenever its convenient. I think i speak for most of us when I say we definitely want you prioritizing the module development over our own pet projects :) The F14 announcement in some blog years ago is what got me started in DCS. I've dreamed of an F14 sim ever since my first video game. In the meantime, I'm going to figure out what all the hubbub is about DZUS rails. Only thing I've ever used DZUS fasteners on is motorcycle fairings.
  22. Love the mission. This will be fun. I've practiced exactly once, so I'll be counting it a victory if I don't crash or DFL.
  23. I've not been able to figure out hit counts for guns on the F5. Also, no tracers - what ammo is being used? AP? I'm trying to figure out if I'm even hitting the target. Are hits just scored as binary hit or no hit? Or does distance to center matter?
  24. By the way, Mumbles, can you post up how you are building your tub once you start? I'm new to pit building, so having at least an idea of the materials and construction steps would be a huge help.
  25. Thanks, Mumbles. That's a good idea. I'll probably wait as well on word from Heatblur, but i will use the delta info to do a spot check of the panel files i have made so far. Having problems with spacing for switches and backlighting right now. Im considering going to all micro sized switches and 3D printing toggle extensions for them. Adjusting sizing with the D specs may alleviate the issue, though. I've got a couple painted acrylic pieces waiting to cut once I get a few panel designs finalized.
