  1. You would think there would be an easy way to say connect THIS spot to THIS spot, and a checkbox field that selects what kind of rotation limitation. For instance, Connect Mesh A to Mesh B at Mutual Pivot Point, and restrict rotation to Vertical, Horizontal, or Free Motion

  3. Unfortunately no update as far as I know of
  4. Just a heads up, last information is that IK Links are not support by the EDM tools at this time. A workaround is to use IK links until everything is correct, and 'burn' the animation frames into the corresponding mesh or dummies before exporting EDIT: Sniped by Aaron....That's what I get for clicking reply and forgetting to actually reply!

  7. I don't know, but the cause of that is sometimes the rivers/ lakes flow extra fast and flood during heavy rain season and cause the soil to become super soft. Even the slightest weight on the riverbank will cause an object to sink

  9. I think it is a limitation since it always loads models on 0,0,0 axis. Is the goal to create a texture that flows from the missile to the pylon to the plane?
  10. I'm not sure what kind of model he is talking about so I used a conservative answer and I was not including spec/ normal/ or bump map in my "16 is overkill" statement. I figured he was talking about 16 diffuse textures considering he was talking about combing them into a large one.
  11. 16 2048 textures is overkill. The type of unwrap depends greatly on the model itself. If you are talking about aligning a nosecone to a fuselage, that will be the same whether a single texture or multiple because you should not unwrap the two pieces in the same way since their base shapes are different. Within the Max unwrap editor, you can create a checkered pattern to help you align the multiple objects. The sim runs the same way whether an object has multiple textures or a single texture
  12. Ah yes. 2048 is probably the best balance between quality and performance, however 2048 is not the maximum the Simulator can handle

  15. Not saying that it will, but it makes sense so EDGE could be optimized for the newer stuff. However it has been said that the Black Sea map is not going anyplace. But lets not speculate and wait until something official is posted about it considering I could speculate all day until my brain goes boom. I am sure once specifics are ready to be announced, they will be posted in the Official News section
  16. Has it been specifically stated that the old map will not work with EDGE? The only thing I ever saw was that the Black Sea map will not have EDGE enhancements. The simulator possibly could load up the proper engine depending on the map you select. OR EDGE could run the Black Sea map inside itself with no EDGE specific visuals There is no official information on how it functions in this regard yet.
  17. Last official statement was that it was still the plan to do so. Probably so. Best not to post possibilities and then have people take that to be absolutes, and then get grumpy at ED for 'promises' that were never promises to begin with
  18. Why build and texture stuff when you dont know final capabilities of your engine? They could have been working on the new models we get in patches. Who knows. Other companies could have 100 dedicated people to artwork alone. Maybe 200. Problem is that we don't know and therefor speculating on why others can do it is not really relevant in my opinion. The A10c started as a desktop trainer program thingy and got ported to commercial use, so its possible, but again, nobody knows
  19. Are you referring importing a .edm into max to do work on it? If so, that is not possible. Expected future 2013 compatibility soon? Was this posted someplace that I missed or are you guessing? If the older versions no longer work to do this, then my guess is no. ED might have converted all they wanted and optimized the viewer. I am not certain on this though.

  24. That is the generic texture when the game cannot find a texture. What mission in the campaign?
