  1. Yes turning rate of fire to low fixed the problem I guess high and low are mixed up. One other thing not sure if it's simshaker related but very occasionally my jetseat will stop vibrating for a few moments before starting up again. Anyone else have this problem?
  2. I want to use the UMV editor to make the cannon feel more powerful, but when editing the files, I came to realize that in the editor the cannon effect is fine, and very powerful, its only in game that it is very weak! So I think this will have to be a bug report!
  3. Hey guys I was just wanting to ask why the cannon or gun on the blackshark is so weak, and seems to work sometimes and sometimes not at all? I found this thread (https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2973519) with someone there saying the same thing so I dont think this is just my problem. Anyone know of a fix?
  4. For some reason they only seem to work when I clear the 'release weapon' function and set the fire to 'gun' only, but this is no solution as it means I cant use release weapons. I cant seem to have both release weapons and cannon/gun working at the same time. Release weapons seems to disable the simshakers cannon vibration. There is some vibration it just dosent feel like 100 percent as with the other options on simshaker when set to 100. Feels kind of weak and hard to distinguish.
  5. No not unlimited though not sure the point you are making. I'm not sure but other things like damage maybe are not working as they should either, but all the motors and the seat itself are in working order. I fire the cannons for a prolonged period and set at 100 I would have expected to feel a lot of vibration but I get nothing.
  6. Anyone know why or what I can do, have set it to 100 hundred in heli and plane options and in the blackshark when firing the cannon I dont feel a thing, everything else seems to be working though, any ideas?
  7. I have noticed the new steam update gave the beta some performance improvements but also problems, the grey flash that would have you pop in and out of game during performance drops is largely a non issue now but there are times when the game will just hang up, and go back to the steam loading screen for a much longer amount of time than it used to. I have opted out of the beta for now and the asynchronous reprojection still works fine but I am hoping to see stability improvements, only time will tell though...
  8. Yeah you're right this crash I've been getting is more sudden and hard to understand theres generally no warning lights or beeps, it just happens.
  9. I want to help cause I know it's annoying when you make a post and nobody answers but I really don't know the answers and that's why you're getting no answers. I am on a Vive like yourself though. Are you using the new steam beta? I have had a crash like you described with the new update but it's something that resolves itself if you wait and only happens very rarely not in game but when loading sometimes. Is this crash occurring whenever you start a game? Make sure first you have done a clean delete and uninstall of all of your nividia graphics drivers. I was. Having awful time till I die that.
  10. I'm enjoying and am satisfied enough with the VR experience as it is at the moment to see no reason for an upgrade I bought my 980Ti last year and think it's still a great card for the vast majority of games DCS included. I want my next VR computer/GPU to be sure it can play DCS without even needing Async reprojection and feel confident DCS is going to receive better optimizations anyway. If I bought this now and a few months later a new card comes out that can confidently hit 90 I'm gonna be sad.
  11. I find target practice missions good for practicing flying more acrobatically. Those are really fun! What about fuel, I've been carrying 100 percent fuel do you guys think I should drop it down to 70 percent and lighten the load? This crash isn't always caused by the collective it's quite hard to replicate and remember exactly what happens but it's perhaps when I push down too quickly after having rose up quickly at high speed. It's still happening more than I'd like, if you were teaching a rookie and had to tell him some rules to ensure this accident never happens, what rules would you warn him never to break?
  12. Yes I use one of the switches on my HOTAS warthog, you can only switch them either to on, or off so if you use them for zoom, on will be in, and off will be out, no need to hold your finger on the button. For some reason though I dont find that my zoom function is working on 2.04, anyone else have this problem?
  13. So I heard 1.5.6 has a had an update. Just wondering if its OK to install it now or does it still have problems in VR? If it's running as well as 1.5.5 I will reinstall it but the question is, is it?
  14. The thing is though I thought my skills were really improving! It was just this one, but very fatal flaw that was occasionally occuring that told me deep down that despite flying well 95 percent of the time, I was actually an awful pilot who in real life would already have died a thousand deaths. The amount of helicopters and money I would have wasted the military on account of my premature eject-ulations would have been astronomical! Now that its sorted out though I think I've got a good foundation to build on. It wasnt the warning sound collision that was causing me to crash, those were easy to understand and avoid. That one tends to happen when pushing down on the collecitive combined with a rapid desent. It was occuring without any warning sound whatsoever and often during pretty level flight (but a slight dip caused by using the collective) which made me think the G's couldnt be too bad. Now just visualizing what happens when you suddenly pull down the collective seems to make sense, the lower blades cone upwards and collide with the upper? It dosent always happen though so that made it harder to track down. I would use the collective for everything, it felt pretty natural and more often than not got away with it! For example if I was being fired on, I found suddenly hitting the collective was a pretty good way to avoid the incoming barrage as you drop down in a more vertical motion. One more question. Whenever I go into high speeds warning lights will flick on in the top panel. I know this is a high speed warning of sorts, but what excatly are they warning me? Is it simply not to attempt any high G maneuvers. Or are they actually telling me that I shouldnt even be going that fast?
  15. Thats one thing about simulations that even VR cannot remedy. That without a fear of death I am always going to be flying like a total berk and in no way the cautious little mouse I would be at the helm of a real KA-50! Still you can have a lot more fun that way!
  16. Wow damned thing is a death trap! Did many real Ka-50 pilots meet their end due to this mistake? Mind they probably listened in basic training! Think you're right guys about the collective. I think what I've been doing is trimming (poorly) and then trying to straighten out by using the collective and doing it all rather too quickly- snap. So will ease up on my use of the collective and see if it helps. Will have to alter my whole method of flying now though quite hard to resist!
  17. Yeah true the quality neednt be great because I will include text. The main thing is added realism and atmosphere. How do you guys do your own voice acting? I'm flying as the russians you see, and not really that keen on the idea of a silly russian impersonation. I might just have to go camp and corny and wear the fact I am not taking myself seriously on my sleeve. I was thinking about having my controller announce he was speaking English to confuse any listeners 'and with your English experience studing at Oxford Ivan we'll' ...but quickly dismissed the idea as ridiculous! Still linguistically inaccurate voice acting is better than no voice acting!
  18. I know that this tends (always) to happen when you accelerate and push the helicopter downwards (it will give warning beep) but am I right to say that its also dangerous to tilt the AC downwards even a little when the AC is trimmed? Or is there something else I am doing wrong? I am getting these inexplicable crashes every once in a while and as far as I can work out it seems to happen mostly when the AC is trimmed. It sometimes happens when tilting downwards (not steeply) and sometimes when I am banking but I think when I am travelling at high speed or probably accelerating (But I think maybe not always). It happens so suddenly that I am often at a loss to what I did wrong but am I right in my assumptions? That any high speed changes of direction (especially down) should NEVER be attempted while trimmed? I spent so much time focusing on take off, landing and blowing stuff up, that I have neglected to focus on what would really matter in real life- cardinal rules to flying safely! I've come to realize to my deep surprise that trial and error is probably not the best way to learn how to fly a helicopter! Thanks guys!
  19. Really I just want in game messages to have voice audio as well as text to bring the missions alive more.
  20. I got Audacity so I should just record them, convert them 'Ogg vorbis' files and then upload them to DCS from there right?
  21. Guys just wondering how to go about uploading audio files to DCS mission editor? Is there a special recording program you guys use, and anything I need to be aware of when doing this or should I just simply record, and then upload the file in the mission editor as I would a photo? Reason I ask is because I think I recall hearing you have to do something like compress the files before uploading them but am not reeally sure what this means I have to do. Many thanks
  22. I just bumped it up to 1.6 and 8X MSSA and as you say it looks so much better and performace seemed great! Would probably have more issues on some more demanding DCS missions, but as I plan to use the mission editor for VR from here on out who cares!
  23. Another thing is that image clarity and FOV are both closely related and image quality may be better on the rift but at the expense of FOV. Remember though if better image quality and a smaller FOV is what you want people seem to forget or not realize that you can easily adjust the Vive's lenses and give it both a smaller FOV and also make the image quality clearer. I personally don't like to do that though except when using vorpx and it's really needed, because in DCS it is rather immersion breaking and gives one tunnel vision.
  24. Thanks man got it sorted in the end, I think it probably was like you said though I noticed too the line was kind of crooked. The Ai sometimes gets stuck in buildings and I cant complete mission goals (destroy him) but thats not often anymore! Had no luck getting the Huey to find and attack me, even when he was right on top of me, changed it to another helicopter and just got the surprise of my life (shot down!). Going to avoid Hueys in future, they've been nothing but trouble since I started. Cant blame the primitive navigation systems either I dont think, as I am firing right at them and they dont do anything.
