Oh sorry man I didnt see your message. This is my instant action edited mission. I'm still working on it so not sure if its finished yet, for example I have used 'all of coallition out of zone' in order to send the 'mission success' message and havent had time to check if that works yet. I only get a little bit of time every day, and most of thats actually spent flying the mission(s) I make. Anyway hopefully even if its a big mess, you will get an idea of what I'm going for and be able to do your own thing with it or show me how its done! Part of (enemy) coallition in zone after 450 seconds will destroy you, as will speed if it drops below 25 or so. This might be more fun higher (30-35) but then you've really got to watch taking the corners or the bomb will go off. I wanted it to be basically normal flight except for the fact that you cant just stop, as I wanted to impede the players ability to just hover and snipe off targets from a safe distance as thats no fun. I think I should just buy the Huey really! I dont think its really a mission that will trouble veterans of the sim, but I find it pretty diffcult to beat every time and yes it is great fun, though I do intend to work on it and make it even more challenging. Not sure if you play VR too, but its intended for VR really and is meant to be nothing more than pure fun, but I also made sure to remove anything that would tax and ruin the VR experience. I seriously beleive that rather than everyone worrying about massive PC upgrades the community just needs to work together on VR specific missions for both on and offline, because they are pretty close to flawless performance wise if you just avoid using certain things. And that dosent mean you cant make great missions... instant action alternative NEW.miz

[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
Wolf8312 replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm using a Vive. I've just uninstalled but was using AVG. Everything else I make sure I shut down. I havent tried it without the VIVE, but it seems to be more the aviator software, than the older software (simshaker for DCS and flacon) but I cant guarantee that as I havent used the former enough. Is there any negative effect to be expected from having both the old and new simshaker software installed? I ran malawarebytes and found quite a few viruses so will try again today, hopefully maybe a virus was the problem! -

Its definately simshaker for aviators shutting itself down midgame and loading or not loading back up again. Have gone back to using the older software (simshaker for DCS and falcon) and havent had the same thing happen though that doesnt mean it wont. Is there anyone I can contact about this? As its free software I kind of dont feel I have the right to complain but on the other hand the jetseat and simshaker software seem to be pretty much useless each without the other, so after buying the seat for 200 hundred pounds its definately something I want to get to the bottom off! Is simshaker for aviators in beta or is it the final release? -

Seems to be because the simshaker for aviators software is shuting down and starting up again -
Thought I'd post here as someone mentioned it's maybe a VR problem. I am using a Vive. My jetseat sometimes seems to stop working for no reason when flying, it then seems to interupt my VR experience momentarily as it loads back up and starts working again. Anyone ran into this before or know of a fix?

And what about with alot of carpet bombings going on? Is the 1080Ti experience flawless now? If you run a mission like 'battle' for example with the KA-50 how are the frame rates then? Sounds a great improvement but to be honest from what I've heard it seems like there is no fundamental problem with my 980Ti just that the game is not utilizing it properly and the same with my CPU (i7-4770). The VR Vive experience has improved so much since the beggining that its hard to beleive it wont get better still, and to upgrade now, and basically hedge everything on the 1080Ti seems a bit risky if like me you're wishing your next rig to pretty much future proof a game like DCS 2.0. I want my next rig to play DCS perfectly with no ifs or buts. I kinda jumped too early on the 980Ti to be honest, but dont wish to make that mistake again and want to wait a little while to see how the optimizations go. With DCS being so under utilized and optimized I just dont think its worth so much money, especially when VR itself has not really taken off yet and the dust hasnt setteled yet... If I was seriously unsatisfied with the experience I might not be able to control myself but as I am into single player only at the moment, I find that using the mission editor can create for myself a pretty close to flawless expereince anyway, I mean I am seriously loving it, and it does seem to get better all the time.

I dont plan to play MP just yet. Really using the mission editor is a great way to make a flawless VR experience, and take out, or add things, that degrade or enhance the experience. The mission I am making at the moment is just the Ka-50 insurgent instant action mission, but I have removed all friendly units (especially the bomber) added a few more hostiles, and given myself a time limit (I will explode if everyones not dead! Its very arcadey but really great fun, although I think I'm going to remove the two riffle men, as I always miss them and end up exploding! I do plan to get round to MP one day though so thanks for the warning, as ever you're a great help!

Yes but I rejected 'group alive' on account of needing to go through manually and selecting every group. I dont think theres a quick way to select every group at once so I selected 'part of group' in trigger zone. Seems to work.
-
Let me run this by you. If I want to blow myself up for not having killed everyone within a certain amount of time, in trigger options conditions I should select 'part of coalition in zone' and in the same column set 'time no more than' 700 hundred seconds (or whatever) and then obvioulsly in actions select the unit I wish to explode (me)? Or is there a better way?

Colors look washed out during peak time (12.00)

Will that work with the VIVE? -
Well it gives me the option to select AGL or MSL in the helicopters own options right? I thought you could choose either aas you liked? So in the the trigger options I should use meters by converting the helicopters starting AGL or MSL from feet to meters, adjusting of course for the height at which the explosion will occur? Thanks I will give it a try later!
-
Doh! Well prepare yourself for more breathtaking denseness! Another thing, lets say my starting altitude is 60 and I want to set my AC to explode when I go higher than 61 (or 65 etc). How come when I imput this into my trigger options (explode higher than 61) does it never seem to work properly? I always just seem to explode no matter what! Are the trigger point options using a different measurement than the 'starting altitude' in my helicopters options panel is measured by? The two things dont seem to match up, is one above ground and the other above sea level or something? In the trigger options how much does '1' represent exactly, is it feet or meters?
-
Sorry dude how do I set the time? I can only see value 600 which I assume is points.
-
Oh right thanks man, I didnt realize that was something that could be unchecked! One more question I've been meaning to ask, if lets say I have 4 waypoints and I want them to attack me, or disperse (or whatever) along all four diffrent waypoints am I supposed to set this in advanced waypoints for all 4 different waypoints, or is it enough to just set it for say number 2, after which they will attack whenever they see me along the way. I always set them to attack on all waypoints but this seems as if its probably not really needed?

I like to make my missions exciting by using some form of time limit, for example in the best mission I have made so far SAM sites are offline due to a nearby AT unit in the area, and helicopters are incoming. In order to dispatch of the helicopters you have to destroy the AT units after which the sam sites will reactivate and the helicopters will get shot down. It works pretty well and for now I am done with that mission. For my second mission however I am kind of lacking inspiration. I have an idea and want to use a similar time limit kind of deal that will ratch up the tension and make things more fun. I am considering a ridiculous kind of SPEED (the movie) mission where there is a bomb on the AC rigged up to the altimeter and flying over a certain height will result in setting the bomb off but I dont want to go cartoon if I can help it! What I want to do is to make a mission where you must stop a convoy from reaching a nearby town and failure to do so will result in death either because of reinforcements arriving (SAM activations etc) or because I will just have the AC auto-detonate my AC for some ficticious reason. The point is, stop the convoy before you explode and I believe this will create a great amount of tension, and perhaps combined with the SPEED plotline could be alot of fun. The trouble is the convoys when attacked all go off road and sit there like lemmons. So is there a way to make sure that a convoy will continue moving towards its mission objective, or next waypoint, without stopping no matter what?

Wolf8312 replied to Wolf8312's topic in Virtual Reality
I'm actually on a Vive my friend! I feel like I've bought a new headset it's so much better! It is kind of strange that the default Vive/rift experience would be so washed out though! There should be more info on the forum about this to notify others like me as the default color is frankly abysmal if playing at midday, it makes everything else like the shimmering and low resolution look worse as well. What a huge upgrade! Everyday my VR experience improves, either due to new updates of steam VR or innovations, or just as often because I find things out like this. Shadows too no longer seem to cause fps problems though haven't tested it enough to be certain yet. -
Best Way to Show-Off/Show-Case DCS VR to Someone Who Does NOT Fly?
Wolf8312 replied to Gnat's topic in Virtual Reality
I'm gonna show my dad when he visits so am thinking the same. Not gonna cut corners just gonna try and teach him the fundamentals of flying the shark, it's not really a difficult module. When you have someone with you as an instructor it shouldn't take long, and learning is all part of the fun, and really brings home how authentic and amazing DCS really is. He always scoffs at the idea that my flight simming on DCS is anything but playing a computer game, so I kinda want to throw him in at the deep end, to make him realize what this 'game' is actually all about! Annoying thing is that people are just lazy, but I found when showing a friend who would never even try flight sims and DCS, that VR was a game changer, and he did admit that if he had VR himself he would he would defiantly be playing it. -
I just have too many modules I want to get. I want a spit, a viggen and a mirage, also want a Huey but that's another topic. So the mirage really has great VR performance? That might have to be my next one then. But I never hear much about the M2000C, how is it as a module?
-
Well I am still going down in pilot error induced firey balls of smoking death. But good news is every time it happens now, I realize why, and often even can anticipate my own death before it happens! Will just suddenly realize way too fast, shouldnt have pulled that, or moved like that at this speed and sure enough snap, and down we go!

Aw man your a lifesaver! How can I not have known about this till now! Should be a sticky at the top of the VR forum in large capital letters! Its like I've gone over the rainbow and finally have color. Anyone who hasnt done the HDMI trick and altered their settings in the nvidia control panel needs to do so right now! Thanks man, gonna play in real color now! It was somthing I just kind of got used to but it bugged me like crazy that what I could see on my monitor was nothing like I could see in VR. -

As it is now I am happy with it and it needn't be any higher, just wondering if low ROF should work much better than a high ROF of which the vibration is very weak. -
I'm using a HTC VIVE and I've noticed that if I set the time for later in the day (5.00), that DCS looks alot better than it does if I set the time for 12-3 during which time colors look rather washed out on the VIVE in stark contrast to how they look on the monitor? Basically everytrhing is too bright. Anyone else noticed the same thing? Can just change the time I suppose but its a rather weak solution.
