    Confused

Try flying the viggen in VR low over vegas, amazing experience!
  2. Not nessesary I'm afraid I'm usually dead long before my ammo and fuel has depleted!
  3. Was wondering the best way to employ the MI-8 in comabt against a scattering of armed ground targets (nothing too lethal of course) that I can easily demolish at the helm of my trusty Huey- and certainly with the blackshark. Gets me thinking that my tactics must obviously be wrong, as the old low peekaboo tactics that I employ with the UH-1 are not nearly as effective on account of the comparative lack of agility. However black shark -hover and engage from a safe distance- tactics dont seem to be much better as without the modern computer systems you have to get reasonably close to your target, while keeping up the speed to avoid being sitting ducked. I am talking guns and rockets at the moment as U havent tried bombing yet bit of an MI-8 noob but am learning to love it a little bit more every day. The best way I have found so far is to go in focused on one target, take him out, and then get the hell out of there ASAP. Then repeat on another target! Exciting but rarely successful. A mission I completed first time with the UH-1 still hasnt been completed after many attempts. So just wondering how you guys go about it, should I just accept that the MI-8 is not really designed for the role I am trying to assign it? When you guys fight do you try to engage from a distant hover or do you go in close? Just would like to discuss the module really and would be interested to know how others approach combat in such a difficult helicopter to control when in combat.
  4. Much better if not at 12 but there is still some flashing and I have noticed that even with civillian traffic set to off I still have civilian traffic. Guess we will just have to wait till the bugs are ironed out. Down town I must say performance does seem fluid, though I make my own missions and dont put in alot of enemy units especially enemy AC.
  5. No this is without deferred shading though admitedly its ten times worse with the shading option on... I guess I'll just have to change the time of day for now, but it is buggy like flashing and things...
  6. ...and also erratic. Renaming metashaders file didnt work, and this time even the digital vibrace nividia control panel trick is useless. Anyone having the same problem or know of a fix, perfromance isnt a problem it just looks awful now!
  7. Right well I'll keep my eyes open for that then. Performance does seem better after deleting the saved game files, but color is still not quite right, in some ways better, but the textures of the mountains look very hazy and unimpressive compared to before. Things look a bit too brown as well and im still seeing those silvery lines in places. Promising and bodes well overall though! Performance in the mission that was out in the countryside seems no better or worse than it was to be honest but downtown vegas seems very fluid. Rather strange maybe just that particular mission I made has a bug or something the game really doesnt like.
  8. Another thing if you dont mind what exactly does MSSA go under in the nvidia control panel or nvidia inspector, whats the exact term I should look for?
  9. I use no shadows is that not better than even flat shadows?
  10. Where is the saved games file located cant seem to find it! Do you have a link with some more in depth instuctions (swap files) for some of those steps? Thanks!
  11. Nah there are a number of problems, first flight was conducted in semi darkness. Even with digital vibrance on full the color looks terrible, flashing and changing loading times are too long They cant have paid any attention to VR as the recommended VR settings one can choose, (with deffred shading on etc) are utterly abysmal and waaaaay too bright, Perfomance seems OK but the color at the moment is off putting, though even with digital vibrance its never been good at midday I hear we are getting a gamma slider so thats good but things like this do move very slowly so who know when that will land!
  12. Looking good so far guys, its too early to say really but its at least no worse than before and I think better though havent tested out in the countryside where it was having problems before. Downtown very nice and smoothe. I refuse to look at fps counters though so I aint got any conclusive data, I think they just drive people nuts so I just go by how it performs in my own personal opinion! So far got high hopes certainly not bad performance at least downtown! 980Ti i74770/
  13. Well dont sweat it, I was planning to avoid 2.05 until it was fixed anyway so if its still terrible I will avoid it as well and just stick to 1.5.
  14. Rather than a map per say, maybe just better suited tools to be able to make a close approximation ourselves? The mission editor dosent allow us to alter the terrain right?
  15. OK sounds good, I will try the update now!
  16. I'd say the Viggen is the best in terms of how it flies and feels, but combat wise it isnt anywhere near as fun as the M2000C because its too limited in waht it can do. You fly to the taget and fly home basically which may be realistic, but gamewise I prefer to hang around and have the option to blow everything up! Also having no default cannon is something I still havent gotten over! That said Viggen is a must have, and has some crazy fun weapons, but M2000C is the best of the two IMO and both are better than the MIG21 which is still a brilliant module dont forget... Viggens perfomance in VR is also not as good as the M2000C! You must realize that you do have to get both haha!
  17. Notice quite a few problems out in the desert graphical corruptions on low visibility settings and performance dosent seem good enough considering relatively how well it runs when flying downtown. Anyone find Nevada not running as well as it could, I have a much better experience with 1.5 at the moment. Anyone tell me something, are we to expect better optimizations and performance for DCS sometime down the line (the big merge), or do you think as it is now is pretty much as good as its going to get?
  18. Well Justin Case you missed it there was an announcement on this a few weeks ago I think!
  19. As of this moment the Huey is my favorite helicopter, but the MI8 flight model is just fantastic and who knows when I get better at flying it my preference may change. The MI8 is way more difficult for me to actually fly than the Huey, which is without doubt the easiest of the 3 helicopters I have so far flown. The KA-50 is brilliant, though a little bit narrow visibility wise which can actually make the games graphics look worse in VR when flying vegas. I love the Huey because it suits my style of go in dumb with guns blazing. Fantastic VR experience but attempting this style with the MI-8 won't get one very far and you tend to end up exploding on account of the acrobatics that you would have got away with in either the Huey or black shark. Still hilarious though... For this reason I have the most fun, in the later two -the Huey especially- but this doesent mean I think these are the best helicopter modules and in fact I strongly suspect that the Mi-8 is indeed the best. Kinda like the Viggen is not my favorite plane module as it doesent suit my style of play, but it's one of my absolute favorites just in how it feels and flies alone. MI8 has a wonderful feeling and when you hit a bounce and spin up into the air like a top... well in VR especially it does make you think good god what a fantastic flight model! To be honest I love each helicopter module with no real favorites anymore and actually using the mission editor will load up my missions with each helicopter on client and switch from one to the other as I attempt/fail my homemade missions. The other day I realized how much I had forgot how brilliant the black shark was simply because I had spent all my time flying the UH-1. Point is don't get too fixated on one, give them all a fair rotation and you'll probably find yourself loving the one you liked least at the beginning, the most in the end, just as it often is with people. Trust me though learn how to tame the black shark and the UH-1 will seem so much easier, I was very surprised giving that it has no auto piloting just how easy I found the Huey to be but of course this was really on account of how much I suffered and learned with the BS. My biggest challenge is going back to planes, I just love helicopters too much!
  20. Dont blame ya I got a VIVE and its been pretty rocky this last year compared to Oculus DCS wise but its very good now, and honestly if I was to recommend a headset based on the technology alone and where the headset seems to be going, I'd go with a VIVE every time. Dont regret it at all and the more I see, the more I think I made the right decision. That said dont know whether you should jump to soon wait and see how these add ons get reviewed would be your best bet! I'm definatly going to get one though if it does indeed make a significant difference. Wait and see though of course you run the risk of price drops.
  21. By what name does MSSA go under in the Nvidia control panel? I can find MFAA but no MSSA!
  22. It's a shame but as a VIVE user you wouldnt believe how far my performance has come in a year! I'm gonna forget about Normandy and pretend it doesent exist for a while but I am confident it will come good in the end. Whether it can compete VR wise with the WW2 VR competition though I am not sure, as its some pretty silky smoothe competition dogfighting wise!
  23. All my Huey and MI-8 flying recently kind of forgot how brilliant the black shark is! What about the last one the Gazzel is it really worth getting with 3 helicopter modules already?
