  1. ... members? I play in VR you see so I find it rather immersion breaking that when I die I automatically switch to the next member of my crew. I'd rather when I die I just die. While I am on it, is there any way to keep deaths in the first person rather than having one switch to the third person when dead? Many thanks!
  2. Yeah hopefully it will be even better and have been built purposefully to better utilize our GPU's and CPUS. Cant imagine it wont work well in VR as we VR users all know that VR is the future of flight sims. Without VR I wouldnt even play DCS any more and so I am going to wait for some VR Normandy reviews before jumping! I will shoot myself before I go back to Track IR! That was probably why IL-sturmovik devs reworked their entire engine and got the game to run on VR as they know almost ever flight simmer will after having tasted VR never want to fly any other way! Normandy does look worryingly good VR wise though but I'm optimistic. I'm not sure about this but wouldnt prop planes only, also dramatically improve performance on account of the flight models being more simplistic systems wise?
  3. You werent kidding! Socks blown clean off! Best time was around 4 in the morning in the summer time, as it starts to catch the sunset after a while! Man its almost perfect looks and feels so authentic! Highly recommended with a jet seat and air conditioner blowing in your face too. Might sound strange the air conditioner, but its amazing how much more real it makes VR feel as for some reason it makes the virtual world in front of you actually feel as if its there!
  4. To be honest graphics wise I found that the black shark definately looks the worst of all the helicopter modules whereas the UH-1 and M18 give a much more convincing experience somehow! I think DCS looks great tbh, though it is best to fly near the evening or early morning as 12 oclock in DCS VR looks a bit rough! Make sure too you have adjusted your headsets digital vibrance settings using a HDMI cable in you Nvidia control settings panel. Resoloution is honestly never something I notice or worry about though I use MSSA on 4x. Another good tip is to turn visibility range down to low. Others may disagree but I think you get more shimmery clutter on higher visibility and much better performance on the lower. At any rate it compensates for the use of MSSA which is pretty much vital resolution wise. Have you tried vegas at night? Very convincing especially if like me you sit in front of an air conditioner and have a jetseat!
  5. Make sure you use the mission editor to optimize your missions and get the best experience as well. Clouds off!
  6. I do have the Mi-8 just havent got round to trying it out yet its sitting in my library but somehow the Huey was more enticing!
  7. Havent thought of that but I thought I could only select AI skill level for external AI foes, and not myself and the helicopter crew I am controling. Will look into it thanks
  8. Cant seem to get my door gunner to engage am I maybe doing something wrong? Is it not automatic?
  9. I want the guy in the back with the minigun to engage. If I use my own gunsight will this prevent the mini gun AI from firing?
  10. Hello I am finding that when I am flying missions my Simshakers for aviators will for some reason just stop working after which point I have to turn on and turn of my seat to start it up again, anyone know why and how to fix this?
  11. Yeah there's no doubt about it the KA-50 is a brilliant module and it is great to have such a multi purpose single pilot helicopter where you can go it alone. I think I have 7 modules altogether now and although I have learnt some better than others (KA-50 the most) I have never regretted a single purchase, which is fantastic when considering these days in gaming almost every game I buy ends up feeling like a bit of a waste. I don't regret buying the VIVE one little bit either and when I'm flying the huey in VR will often tell myself how lucky I am to be doing so! Can't wait to show my father in a few days when he visits, he doesent know I bought a jet seat either so I'm not going to tell him and have it under a blanket so when he starts flying in VR he will get a surprise! Jealous really as I know from my first VR experience noobs get a much greater sense of actually being there, as it turns the stomach and really tricks the mind into feeling the vertigo at first.
  12. Wow this module has definiately confirmed me as a helicopter man above planes or Jets. I was surprised by how easy I find the UH-1 to fly after all the horror stories but I guess its just practice with the black shark. That said I dont know although landing is still not perfect the actual flying just feels very controllable and I'm wondering if that is because of the UH-1 VR implementation is giving me a better sense of scale than the blackshark especially on account of such greater visibility of the floor and wider world around me. Co-pilots hilarious as well when I look to my side and realize he's been silently pumped full of lead.... Nooooooooooooo! Instead of stoping immediately to get Barney medical attention however naturally as you would, I go on with the mission and after the young punks who shot him. It's what he would have wanted! I dont really know how its possible, but everything seems to look better in the Huey in VR, I think its the wider view, but also the cockpit is nicer to look at than the BS. I dont really like killing the immersion by switching from pilot to pilot, but its incredibly cool to be able to take charge of the machine gunner. I think what I love most though is that it suits how I like to fly, theres no homing missiles or complex weapons so you have to sneak up on your enemy and surprise him, which means going in low and peak-a-booing him. Its just action all the way but this makes even flying to the target fun. I think with helicopters in comparison to planes I just have way more fun in a gaming sense, playing target practice with the enemy, and seeing how far I can push my luck! just purely great fun! I love the simple weapon systems which is amazing really because a few months before I was avoiding the Huey on account of its dumb ordnance and WS's being so rudimentary! I gush about every module I buy with DCS, but trust me guys the Huey is a special one- espescially in VR!
  13. Is there no hope to ever get SSA working with battle of stalingrad?
  14. You need to use the mission editior and go to weather options (cloud icon) then from there set 'cloud density' to zero
  15. My hunch is not this year, but dont forget you CAN still enjoy DCS 2 if you are willing to put some time in with the mission editor.
  16. "The particular laptop computer powering this demo lacked enough power to be formally called ‘VR ready’, and when foveated rendering was disabled I could easily see lots of jitter due to the computer not being able to keep up with the rendering workload. Once foveated rendering was enabled, it allowed the computer to achieve the necessary 90FPS consistently." If this is true then its fantastic news and the kind of technological breakthrough we and VR is waiting for.
  17. Hum helicopters have always been fine for me, might be a bit of bad positional tracking if I am spining around and looking off to the side, but I also do make sure to completely ignore and never look at fps counters. I'm thinking of getting the Huey next too!
  18. I think thge best point some have made is that if you do go with VR alot of the game becomes off limits because of massive fps problems in some of the more demanding missions. Still personally I cant go back to TIR now, the screen just seems too far away and the better graphics are irrelevent, VR puts me in the AC. Maybe if I had a big ass screen though! The main problem with VR at this stage are performance problems and throwing GPU/at the problem wont help you that much. Its interesting to wonder if performance will ever be solved short of these devs or a whole new team building a whole new game. Explosions desperately need to be optimized! Other flight sims have the same problem CPU and GPU is not optimized, so dont make the mistake of thinking a new card will solve all your problems, unless its really time to get one. Thing is though in VR I'm just happy taking off, flying around, attacking a target I have placed on some distant mountain via the mission editor and then flying home again. I dont really need fancy missions at this point, as I suck anyhow! I long for the days when we all have VR though and when it goes mainstream as then it will no doubt get more love.
  19. Well 2.0 is working OK but for me clouds are causing problems again with steam VR. If I disable them its OK but its still not great. The update before last clouds were doing the same thing, but the next update fixed them, and now it seems that the new update has broken them again. Rather frustrating!
  20. Cant seem to roll back to the old version in the DCS updator tool, I try to use 'update to user specific version' and type 1.5.6.3930 into the box, but it just keeps saying 1.5.6.4546 is up to date. I've tried selecting release build, open beta, open Alpha and just not checking those particular boxes. Anyone know what i'm doing wrong?
  21. Just updated to 1.5.6.4546 but the performance was so terrible in VR I am going back to 1.5.6.3930, which still had some problems but wasnt as bad as this latest one in which I guess clouds are a big problem again. Anyone recommend me the most stable version in VR that includes the Viggen? Kinda always update hoping that the VR will have become more stable but it seems more likely to make things worse and is kinda frustrating. When we get to the big merge and 2.5 is released are you guys expecting the VR experience to have much more improvement and optimization performance wise?
  22. Sorry guys we're not allowed to discuss other simulators in comparison to DCS?
  23. How's everyone finding it compares? Its getting rave reviews! Personally it took me a while to get back into it but I really am loving it, love DCS too, but theres limitations to the VR performance especially combat wise (large bombings, dogfights) to be able to acheive a rock solid 90 fps means that BOS is an incredibly smooth experience. Competition is a good thing though hopefully it will mean better optimizations, I'm hoping when 2.0 finally gets released it will run just as smooth as DCS (980Ti, 4770), am I maybe just dreaming? I find it hard to compare the experiences really and like each for diffrent things, but the raw combat experience of BOS is very impressive in VR and if you dont use (sharpen image) it looks amazing too. Its very encouraging but almost hard to beleive how well it runs. That said cant use my jetseat, as in DCS!
  24. All that said Viggen in VR flying around Vegas like a total mad man wow the speed, its agility and how it handles and just feels is very difficult to beat. My only gripe with the Viggen is those puny feeling gunpods but its still pretty much the best plane or Jet module I've tried. Looking forward to the release of battle of stalingrand VR this week but after flying these fast jets I worry I am going to find WW2 birds too tedious!
  25. Basically just meant as I dont have the F15 I cant compare it to the M2000C, and was musing over the possibility that I was maybe missing out! Can compare it to the Viggen and Mig21 though, its probably going to be my favourite of them all as it flies very similar to the Viggen but has much better weapons systems or at least systems that I personally prefer like a default cannon and better control over things like the rocket systems. Seems much more multi-purpose but probably easier to fly than the Viggen. I had some difficulties taking of with the Viggen because I kept trying to pull up to high too early, but the M2000C seems very easy to both take off and land in even for a noob. Only just broke out the weapons system tutorial so will need more time to get a better overview.
