1. Welcome Uclipse!! You've taken, in my opinion, the most important step in the DCS experience - Engaging the DCS community. You'll find that the community here is second to none; true enthusiasts who share your love of aviation and simulation. Try looking around the forums here and do some searches for questions you might have. There are respective sub-forums for both the A-10C and the M2K. If you can't find what you're looking for - ask. Everyone here started in the same place with many of the same questions and frustrations. I think what you're asking for is called Brevity - Brevity Codes are used to relay complex information quickly over the radio. Like, "JINX 91 is WINCHESTER, RTB". Means I'm completely out of ordinance and returning to base. Here's a link for some more commonly found in game: http://www.mediafire.com/file/gis87wq922gnqax/104th+Brevity+Codes.pdf What your hearing is BRAA (Brevity  ) - BRAA = Bearing, Range, Altitude, Aspect 150 for 60 at 15000 = bearing 150 (you could then turn your aircraft to heading 150 and be pointed at the contact); the contact is at or about 60nm (nautical miles); flying at an altitude of 15,000; AWACS will then say one of three aspects. Hot, cold, or flanking. Hot = contact flying head on with you; cold = contact is outbound flying away from your position; flanking = flying perpendicular from your position. The BRAA 150 for 60 at 15,000, HOT is an ok situation as you have time to prepare and determine is you should engage or not. A BRAA of 270 for 8 at 10000, HOT is much more concerning and demands immediate attention. Also you'll hear AWACS say, "JINX 91 - Merged." This means that the contact is so close to you (usually within 2nm) that AWACS cannot tell the difference between your radar signature or that of the bandit. I hope you enjoy your time here. For your questions concerning the M2K; I do not fly the Mirage at the moment. But I can help you with some training videos I found. Bunyap Sims produces great content, here's video #1 you can navigate to the others if you want:
2. If a pilot is killed, crashes, or is removed from the exercise (violation of some sort) the slot is gone. Although I think exceptions are made early on like a crash during take off or something like that. So no replacements will fill those slots. Then as IronMike mentioned above: you guys can switch pilots after 1 hour mission time. I would assume that's after a successful RTB not mid flight. I'm paraphrasing all this of course and IronMike or the 104th can correct me if I'm wrong. Just trying to be helpful.
3. Correct, DCS: World (whatever version; for future reference in case some else stumbles across this) is the main install. That install comes with two free aircraft (SU-25T and TF-51D), and the Caucus Map. Install that, then you'll have to install any additional add on's you've purchased. From there you have some training available for both of those aircraft as well as missions and campaigns for the SU-25T. Here's a link/guide for the basic free version of DCS: World: http://www.mudspike.com/dcs-world-barriers-to-entry-myth-busted/ NTTR and Normandy maps are add on maps if you want them. But they are not needed to simply fly WWII aircraft. You can do that simply on the free Caucus map, or on all of them if you purchase them. The WWII assets pack works with all the available DCS maps. I'm not sure if you can use Combined Arms (CA) to drive the units from the WWII assets pack, but from the quick search I did it looks like you can. After DCS loads you'll find a menu on the right of the screen > Multiplayer  That will give you the list of servers available to play in....you'll be looking for ones titled WWII only or something similar to that. Good luck!! I hope I helped some..
4. IronMike - will you be upgrading the reserve list by order of sign up as well? Like if striker 3 doesn't show then reserve striker 1 gets that slot; then on down the list like that? That would help get the reserve players in who signed up to fly (if they show up of course) as opposed to giving slots to those who show up the day of with the "hey I just saw this, can I fly?" I know you're going to be tremendously busy, thank for the hard work that went into this.
5. Welcome Radial9! I hope you find what you're looking for in DCS and virtual aviation. This community has a ton to offer and I hope you find yourself a part of it. Now that you're down the rabbit hole don't hesitate to reach out. There is a wealth of greatness in the DCS community and everyone is willing to help. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to know that the TF-51D comes free with the free download of DCS: World (if you already didn't know). Again welcome - and cheers!

7. Also what Svend_Dellepude was trying to say about multiple controllers being assigned, to troubleshoot use this path: Launch DCS > Options (top left spoke icon) > Controls > F-15 Then use the drop-down to find Axis Controls (one of the first few options), then find the control called "Rudder". The menu should look something like below:
HOTAS Throttle HOTAS Stick Saitek Rudder Pedals Keyboard TrackIR Mouse Rudder RZ
What we think may be the issue will look like this:
HOTAS Throttle HOTAS Stick Saitek Rudder Pedals Keyboard TrackIR Mouse Rudder RZ RZ RZ RZ
You need to clear out the "RZ" out of all the controllers except the Saitek Rudder column. This typically happens every time I try to set up controllers for the first time.
8. I think mytai01 is looking at the forums in reverse order...what's with all the necrobumps?
9. comie1 and JunMckill - thanks; didn't even occur to me that my version was out of date.
10. I know this may not be the best place for this...but maybe someone can help...when I try to open the Tacview .acmi file I receive "Invalid file Format. '(file name)' is not a flight recording or it is not well formated." Any thoughts? I can't find the answer to resolve the issue, thanks.
11. The only thing I would add to Winchesterdelta's above contribution is start being involved in the community. If you want to increase you player vs. player success - then get on the servers, get on the TS, and participate. IMHO this is one of the best online communities around. You've already taken a big step by reaching out on the forums...and look what happened; you have great advise and knowledge being offered up by some of the best around. Ask for help. Ask for explanations if you don't understand. Research here, google, youtube, and don't be scared to be "new". Every single person you will meet started in the same place with many of the same frustrations. Set goals. WinDelta talked about the grind; the sim has a steep learning curve. Virtual pilots here are doing stuff within the hour of their first time in the sim that would take a real pilot years to get too. So set those basic goals and keep adding to your tools. As with anything, there's no substitute for a good set of properly executed basics. Oh and have fun.
12. Great event! Well done to all!! 104th_Tiger graciously allowed me to use some of his twitch stream from the event to splice in the REDFOR's comms during our (my/F99th's) flight and first engagement. Enjoy:
13. It is well worth it. I heard/read all the hype about how (insert various argument how the Warthog is superior/other HOTAS's cannot compare) and I can say that I humbly agree. Save your money and get the HOG. I was soooooo close to pulling the trigger on the new X-56...probably within a minute or two. But some divine wisdom sprinkled down from the heavens and pushed me to shell out the extra cash. So happy I didn't take that gamble.
14. Step 1: Take Delivery Step 2: Get it inside your home Step 3: Install Fun video I did with my little ones cause I was excited for my first Warthog - enjoy.
15. Pilots from the F99th and 16th AGR virtual squadrons squared off on April 29, 2017 for a 3 hour event. The event included CAP, CAS, Helo support, and GCI coordination from each squadron to capture and hold strategic objectives in the AO. Tickets were awarded via kills and multipliers for gaining and holding objectives. If you'd like more information about the F99th or 16th AGR or have a squadron and would like to fly with us - please visit below: F99th http://f99th.com/ 16th AGR http://www.16agr.com/

16. This will help: http://www.mudspike.com/dcs-f-15c-combat-guide-for-beginners/ Not trying to blow you off - but above is a tremendous amount of knowledge.
17. L-Shift+F10 tuns on labels...alternatively you could try opening the mission in the mission editor - that would show you where you and the enemy spawn; launch the mission from there and you'll have a general direction of the bandits position relative to yours.
