Ok so I need some more help. So after seeing so many users posting talking about 60-90-120 FPS I asked how to can I see what my FPS are (new to PC gaming). When I display my FPS in 1.5 the number fluctuates in the range of 8-9-10 on high settings. Then I adjusted to medium and then low; same 8-9-10 range. I was trying to see if I could get at least 60. Is the numbers I'm seeing 8-9-10 representative of FPS/10? And I'm actually getting 80-90-100 FPS? I ask because the new performance is great on high settings, but my FPS counter is misleading.

dburne and Mustang; thanks for the help. REP added.

N00b question. How or what do you use to monitor frame rate?

I'm too brand new to the game to even fathom looking into the other modules. Still learning the FC3 F-15C. But your gesture is amazing. I second all who posted above, this is an amazing community.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 2
JINX_1391 replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Chiming back in again. From a new-to-this perspective; I really like the refuel time and limited lives. I had been trying to fly conservative on other servers, like my plane/life mattered. But until OP "Blue Flag" I realized just how reckless I was. I make better choices, access more critically, and engage with a win solution. Refueling allows me to listen to the other pilots, exam my map, and plan my flight while waiting. Through all the debate; for what it is, thank you. -
For what it is worth and somewhat related. A good read anyway if you don't know the story of the Blackbird breaking up at almost 80K altitude. http://theaviationist.com/2015/03/17/sr-71-mid-air-disintegration/

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 2
JINX_1391 replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Brings up an interesting question. Is it common practice in DCS to ignore the "active" runway called out by ATC? Seems like I'm the only player that TO/Ls in the correct heading. I get the whole left side of runway notion...actually got an all CAPS teammsg once for me to stay on left side. At least I was on the right end of the runway! -
Sign me open for Lone Wolf (although I would like to be signed before the transfer window closes) Callsign: JINX F-15C BLUEFOR cheers,

I would like to say thanks. I am completely new to DCS and learning as much and as quickly as I can. I was grateful to be apart of the above. This is the most fun I have ever had in any sim. IASGATG was running the show, and I was simply trying to be where I was needed and at the very least provide one more target for the REDFOR to worry about. I know I didn't do much, it was also my first time on comms with teamspeak, but everyone was professional and inclusive. That night I went 1 and 4....but I got one! Best ever, and I learned so much just flying with and listening to a great group. I'm too new to rate a box to complain on, so thanks to everyone that made this what it is. -
Much like my golf game; do what you want, just don't be a pain to those playing around you.

I've been playing DCS for about a month. I figured this out on one of my first few flights; reading through all the comments since OP I thought I was just going about navigating like a n00b. Most IRL pilots will tell you to KISS; so the above works for me, takes less than 3 seconds to accomplish, and no need for advanced button pushing and calculations. Thanks for keeping me sane.

Cockpit and Aircraft Surfaces Load Blacked-Out

-Update: Downloading the .bin files was a ED problem on their side. Once resolved they worked; also backed up a copy onto an external HD so I can grab them quickly in the future. DCS SP/MP loaded without any issues and I was blessed with around a four hour MP session on Friday night. Although I was 0/9, but that is because of my new'ness. Thanks everyone for your help. -
Reminds me of these two....if you know, then you'll get it. :pilotfly:

Basic Setup for F-15C, just getting started
JINX_1391 replied to lockon2015's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Lockon; here are the links and it is $5. So skip Starbucks for one day cause this is really well done for the cost. Some are challenging, I think I've flew this module for almost four months before completing. But I find a passion for perfection, and the night ILS Landing is very very challenging. Forum Link: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=138768 DCS User Files Link:http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1251836/ Also take a look around in on the DCS website under Downloads > User Files. There is a tremendous amount of content there as well. -
Cockpit and Aircraft Surfaces Load Blacked-Out
JINX_1391 replied to JINX_1391's topic in Multiplayer Issues
Thanks Falcon, the screen captures from that thread are what I am seeing. After reading through that thread I am experiencing one difference. I can select other aircraft platforms on the server, and their cockpit loads just fine (A-10A, Frogfoot, etc.). I think it is a file problem at the root cause. Last night I was frustrated...but today I'm excited to make this work and get back to being NOOB fodder on DCS. -

Wiped those too before I tried the re-install. Before I left the house this morning I did a system recover to two days prior. Hopefully those bin files will be restored during the recover. Then I will isolate those, de-install, and reinstall DCS. Before I submitted the above ^ I checked the ticket I put in last night with DCS about page availibility. Seems like it may have been on their end: Hello, please try again. Best regards, Eagle Dynamics IT Team -

Loss for words now. Came home; no DCS saved game folder. So complete uninstall and cleared all related folders from program files. Restarted computer, logged into DCS, clicked on DCS World Download, and then clicked on the first of the seven DCS files... nothing page will not load. WTH? Tried all seven, nothing. Tried in Chrome and tried in IE, nothing. :helpsmilie: -
Did you use the install disk that came with your stick? Looks like you may have to install the drivers: http://www.eteknix.com/speedlink-phantom-hawk-flight-stick-review/ Also found same issues below from the OEM forum from users with similar problems. I could not jump into them because that website is blocked by my computer. https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/217950/speedlink-phantom-hawk-wont-get-recognize-from-sc Hope that leads you somewhere helpful until the guys in this forum with much more knowledge get to this question.

Basic Setup for F-15C, just getting started
JINX_1391 replied to lockon2015's topic in F-15C for DCS World
I'm new to DCS as well. So I'll clue you in on my lessons learned so far (by that I mean from what I've seen, and by no means am I an expert). 1) There is no interactive F15C training module/mission/campaign provided by DCS. However, there is an SU-25 interactive tutorial if you're looking to learn the basics of flight. 2) There is a user generated F15C training campaign you can DL for under $10. It is done really nice and teaches/rates you on the basics. 3) Everything I've ever needed to fly the F15C (keyboard buttons, questions, HOTAS setup, or issues) I've found on this forum. 4) Everything else, I learned from watching youtube videos. Seriously, my 10 month old son will not fall asleep unless Bunyap or Ralfidude is on the TV in my bedroom. Last, there are two missions for the F15C. Both way down on the list. One is easier than the other, called Clean Sweep. The other is hard, called No Fly Zone. By easy I mean I'm only just able to defeat the first two bandits after take off...the rest is a crap shoot. -
Cockpit and Aircraft Surfaces Load Blacked-Out
JINX_1391 replied to JINX_1391's topic in Multiplayer Issues
I checked after the reset to default folders and no DCS file was created in the saved games folder. I did not look after the restart, but I will when I get home later. I'm not sure if this is a symptom or not (related to the saved game issue) but during my last reinstall I created the game in the Program Files folder, rather than the Program Files (x86) folder. Sorry if that is a hugely dumb thing to do....but I'm generally a noob when it comes to this stuff. I've had to Google almost every question here; GPU/DXDiag all fun things I'm learning as I go. -
Cockpit and Aircraft Surfaces Load Blacked-Out
JINX_1391 replied to JINX_1391's topic in Multiplayer Issues
My GPU is the stock Intel® HD Graphics 4400 that came with the laptop. I've never had an issue with it so I don't feel like that is an issue. Update however, last night after I reset the folders to default and the ejection seat and flight stick appeared I did a restart. Re-booted the game and everything flipped. Meaning the cockpit and canopy loaded fine, but the ejection seat and flight stick were blacked out. So still an issue there somewhere, but at least I was 89% happy. Which is 98% more than I've been all week. -

Ah, of the other problems I'm having with DCS this is another. User>[me]>saved games = empty folder. Nothing is in there. Since this hasn't ever been an issue it is lower on my "fix it" list. -
