  1. It looks as this is just rendered (computer generated) image, so they might quite some time away from unveiling the finalized product... http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=33753&d=1259394928
  2. Haven't really had the time to optimize the OC, I have to turn the CPU cooler (Scythe Mugen 2) and reapply the thermal paste since the temperatures shouldn't be that high. 800 MHz is shown in CPU-Z, it's actually 1600 MHz setting, nominal speed of these sticks. They should go up to 1900+ with relaxed timings, but I plan to lift them only by raising the base clock, right now I'm at 20 x 200, and multiplier for DRAM is 8x. And I'm sure processor can go higher, I'm giving him very little voltage (1.25 V CPU, 1,6 DRAM), and it's perfectly stable. Only a little hot with synthetic tests like Prime95 and Linx (above 75 degrees C).
  3. My new(ish) rig: Asus P6T Intel i7 920 @ 4GHz 3x 2GB OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 @ 800MHz 8-8-8-24 ATI Sapphire HD5850 @ 950 - 1300 Windows 7 Evaluation copy 7600 64bit 1680x1050, 4xAA (box, multisample AA), 8xAF, Default High settings, Mirrors on Results: Avg: 66.385 Min: 43 Max: 108 I must admit I'm completely new at ATI, I only have this card for a few days. I'm still quite lost in CCC. Normal antialiasing seems very weak compared to nVidia, there's lots of stuff that ordinary AA doesn't even try to smooth. I'm toying with the new SuperSampling AA, on 2x it gives me much beter image quality than anything I have ever seen (it antialiases the whole screen, edges and textures), and the performance drop isn't big (3 FPS Average, Minimum stays the same). GPU gets warmer though, it stresses it at about 70% in DCS (compared to 60% at even 8x MultiSample AA). But the card is amazing, still only about 70 degrees C, and the fan remains very silent (below 35%). But 4x SuperSampling AA results in more visible tearing, even if the FPS drop isn't that great, again only a couple of frames. I don't know why. Right now I'm a happy camper at 2x SuperSampling AA, 8x AF, Avg 64, Min 44, Max 107. And that's with mirrors on, which I normally switch off.
  4. Thank you! I'm really impressed by Black Shark, and I hope all goes according to plan, as far as new modules is concerned!!! Best buy I made in a long time!
  5. Any chance of tuning in to TV stations on ABRIS or Shkval, perhaps on Web TV or YouTube video? :D That would be a silly feature. :pilotfly: FOr playing something like this:
  6. Homepage of Leo Bodnar, maker of BU0836: http://www.lbodnar.dsl.pipex.com/ It's a simple HID (Human Interface Device), doesn't need any special drivers, has up to 32 buttons and 8 axis. You can set up everything directly in game or (for buttons) use a software to turn button presses to keyboard presses and create profiles (Joy2Key, Keymapper).
  7. Well, that's most likely waaay over my capabilities. If I could find a 4 way switch, I could fit the hats on top of that, but making completely new mechanism for pressing 4 micro switches is a bit too complicated. Hehe, I now have one SFS (with a functional coolie hat) and a Hawk (with decorative non functioning hats). I'll check if any of my old ruined joysticks has anything usable, but I doubt it.
  8. Just a fix of my previous message: That is not true. Why? Hawk only has 4 normal buttons, and 2 hats are just decorations - they don't move and they have no buttons underneath them. How do I know that? I just bought one, in very good condition. I first thought they were broken and just glued on joystick, but then I looked on the box (yeah, it came in original box and with manual), and it says: "For appearances only, castle and hat switches are inactive." So it's definitely not a good candidate for USB modding...
  9. Thank you, Yeniceri and Sim-Mod team!!! You just made this game worth twice as much as yesterday! :pilotfly:
  10. I suppose you saw the "Great planes", Discovery channel documentary. Yeah, it's old, but the A10 is much better and newer than for instance F-15 or F-16 pieces, which sound like they were made right after the test flights ended in late 1970. I am sorry, I don't have many recommendations. I only saw Great Planes, and Dogfights (which has some great moments, in between silly commentary and awful repeating graphics), and Battle 360 (same as Dogfights). There's Wings over the Gulf, another Discovery documentary (nothing special). The ones that I enjoyed were "The Sukhoi story", about the development of Su-27 and Wings of the Red Star - Mig 29 (but not because I like Russian planes). Oh, and "Modern Marvels - the F-15" and "Ultimate Strike Planes" are also quite decent.
  11. Thanks, ggg87, I really hope this will work. Hehe, what a nice set, you could shelve them for a couple of years, and if the joystick industry will evolve in the same direction, people will be paying big bucks for the converted ones! Yeah, button feel cannot be compared to CH or expensive Thrustmaster models, they are a bit more flimsy. But in my opinion they are better than Saitek's - I have an X-52 Pro, and I was rather disappointed when I got it. I mean, it's just like my old Cyborg Evo, only more buttons and more axis - buttons have a lot of play, and the whole thing just screams "toy" under your hands. Must be the non-military shape of things that I grew accustomed to using Thrustmaster F-22 Pro. As for the info, it's just copy / paste. Big thanks must go to the people over here: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=27496 - X-plane topic about Suncom modding http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2497386#Post2497386 - recent SimHQ topic about converting Suncom throttle to USB http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2463291#Post2463291 - some info on reworking Suncom joysticks http://www.f-15estrikeeagle.com/technology/cockpit/forward_stick/forward_stick.htm - Real F-15E stick description, control functions http://www.f-15estrikeeagle.com/technology/cockpit/forward_throttle/forward_throttle.htm - same for throttle Sorry for not shortening the links... I just hope that I'll get my stick before everybody hops on a Suncom modding bandwagon! :D
  12. I found this description of Suncom sticks very useful (from X-Plane forum, post by GranBichus) : I would just add that the first mentioned stick, Suncom SFS is the stick that was sold together with throttle in "Combo Crate". SFS and Raptor sticks both have just the coolie hat (in the middle), on the left is the big red LED light instad of a button. Other sticks have castle 4-way switch in center and coolie hat on the right side. Suncom Combo Crate (SFS throttle + SFS Stick) Suncom F-15E Hawk, but the top button position is the same for Hawk / Talon / Eagle sticks. I have a Suncom throttle (got it for free from a friend several years ago, potentiometers are gone, used it for decoration). I'm trying to get a hold on any Suncom stick (except SFS that came in combo crate with the throttle and Raptor, they only have 1 4-way hat). They appear quite regularly on Ebay, but unfortunately mostly in USA, and I'm in Europe. Just a week ago I let pass a Talon on sale in England, it went for about $36 + $40 postage, waaay too much for an old stick ($76, 47 EUR). But maybe I'll regret it. I'm planning to make a USB conversion, with Leo Bodnar's controller card: http://www.leobodnar.com/products/BU0836/ And almost certainly Honeywell SS496A Hall sensors + magnets, and perhaps a rotary encoder and extra button or two. None of these things is expensive, but it's a lot of work. I just recently made my first trim box, and got hooked on solder smell. I just hope I won't end making full F-15 pit. :megalol: :helpsmilie:So, I'm in a opposite position than most people looking for throttle. I have a Suncom throttle unit and no stick. So, does anyone have an old, possibly even damaged Suncom Hawk / Talon / Eagle stick that is willing to part? :helpsmilie:Ideally would be from Europe, shipping rates can be quite a killer. I'll keep looking for a stick, and if I give up, I'll let you know, and this throttle (completely without scratches) will be searching for a new home.
