This is the page I found the extended A-10A manual, if for some reason you don't like Megaupload: http://narod.ru/disk/22090157000/A-10A%20Flight%20Manual.pdf.html It's in Russian, you have to type in the numbers above the "Показать другие цифры" box and press Скачать (download). New page opens and if download doesn't start automatically click the http: //narod.ru/disk/********/A-10A Flight Manual.pdf.html link. It worked fine once I got to that stage, but I had some problems to get there. I will not upload again, my upload speed really sucks (waited more that 2 hours yesterday).

Several documents I could find on A-10 (mostly A model). First one I found on Narod.ru website, I have reshared it since link barely works. Others are freely available on various websites. A-10A Flight Manual and performance data (TO 1A-10A-1 and TO 1A-10A-1-1). Large file (330 MB) A/OA-10--AIRCREW TRAINING, AIR FORCE INSTRUCTION 11-2A/OA-10, VOLUME 1 A/OA-10--AIRCREW EVALUATION CRITERIA, AIR FORCE INSTRUCTION 11-2A/OA-10, VOLUME 2 A/OA-10--OPERATIONS PROCEDURES, AIR FORCE INSTRUCTION 11-2A/OA-10, VOLUME 3 AIR OPERATIONS RULES AND PROCEDURES, AIR FORCE INSTRUCTION 11-214 Joint Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures for Close Air Support (CAS), JP 3-09.3 A-10A Guide For LOMAC, Strike Fighters: Project 1, Wings Over Europe A-10s over Kosovo (complete e-book) Added: A10 Thunderbolt II (Warthog) Systems Engineering Case Study, 2007

Even if there is unclassified flight manual I suspect it would be still unobtainable. And illegal to own. :-) There are various levels of security regarding military manuals.

They are easy to find. I also managed to get the version with all the suplements which is much rarer (150 additional pages of graphs and charts, 330 MB long). Will post links as soon as I come home, typing on a phone right now.

Best wishes! A bit selfish, I know, since we depend on him, but from the heart too!

The Modern Hog Guide (Red Air Publications, 2007) has only 120 pages, and it's $40. I guess DCS: A-10C Warthog's manuals will be at least as long as DCS: Ka50 Black Shark (548 pages, $30). I think price could be lower if just a critical range would be printed in colour, but I'm willing to pay the premium for not only a game manual but also a most up to date and precise book on any modern western aircraft. And it's munitions. :)

As I remember they were not implemented in Lock On since it lacked necessary atmospheric conditions modelling. Vapour trails from wing tips or from whole wing surface only appear under certain conditions, and having them always present is as wrong as if they are always absent. But the later is easier to implement. :) I hope they will add them this time. Ka50 simulates a lot of atmospheric conditions, even when they are not visible (but affect the aircraft), so I have some hope they can be implemented. I'm not so sure about wing flexing. I think it's even easier to calculate than rotor flexing on a Ka50, but pylons and weapons on them complicate matters - weapons would have to move with wings. I know it's usually a small deflection, but static weapons and flexing wings would be even worse than no flex at all.

Awesome! Thank you, Wags!

Since manuals are printed black & white only I think I can have it printed and bound locally. I don't think I will want to wait for an official version. :)

I know, it was just... A figure of speech. Retort. Or some other laboratory glassware. :)

I think integrating A-10C (and Ka-50 also) into the 1990 world of "Lock On" poses a lot of problems, especially story wise. I know that a lot of people want a "Digital Battlefield" with as many options as possible, but I think it is time slowly for DCS to go it's own way, as unhindered with the past as possible. I mean, we would still have the FC2 to satisfy our "different tastes". I know that people were satisfied for a long time with just Falcon 4 because it's a multirole platform with a little of all the worlds. And I know that ED promise of "9 months between modules" is now extended to "when me make the military simulator first, could be 2 or more years", but I think DCS could be so much more than just an Lock On add-on. I think it's time for them to break that chain to the UBI.

Better performance in MP then SP?
Bwaze replied to asparagin's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I wonder if in future computers could share this load? I mean, 8 or 16 computers is vastly more computing power than just one server. The downside would be increased traffic between all players. Mission generator could also have some sort of meter that shows required computing for AI (just based on the type and number of AI). -
I can imagine the questions after DCS: A-10C launch: I think not even warning about trainig weapons in basic FAQ will save you from this questions, just look at how many times "I can only fire cannon, not missiles" comes up in FC2! :) I can imagine use for a AGM-65E (laser guided). One aircraft lases the target from a safe distance, the other comes in very low, pops up and fires the AGM-65E guided by that laser, and quickly turns, dives and leaves the area.

AGM-65D - imaging infrared guidance, 125 pounds (56.25 kilograms) shape charged warhead AGM-65G - imaging infrared guidance, 300 pounds (135 kilograms) delayed-fuse penetrator, heavyweight AGM-65H - electro-optical/television, AGM-65B with updated CCD imaging sensor (since 2003), 125 pounds (56.25 kilograms) shape charged warhead AGM-65K - imaging infrared guidance, AGM-65G with updated CCD imaging sensor (since 2003)300 pounds (135 kilograms) delayed-fuse penetrator, heavyweight CATM-65K - Captive-carry (non-launching) training missile TGM-65D, TGM-65G, TGM-65H - training missile, no warhead, but launch-able

Well.... Big part of the warthog is already finished (The Battle Simulator). I think the work they need to do on the aircraft is therefore minor, compared to all the rest of the changes ED is planning for the DCS world. So I think there lies a glitch in your calculation. :) But still, DCS A-10C is promised this year, and if it comes out January 2011... It's still practically within the promise, as far as game development goes.

Will trackir be worth it just for DCS A-10C
Bwaze replied to kingneptune117's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Maybe. But I doubt it. It's high speed IR camera with it's own processor so the computer gets only mouse-like input from it. I have tried FreeTrack, and it worked - but was never satisfied with responsiveness and CPU load. Try to get used TrackIR 4, if new TrackIR 5 seems too expensive. But there's not many around. It's a wonderful device, and after using it for a while other components feel overpriced. :) Joysticks and various HOTAS can be more expensive, and they are usually much simpler devices. And buy the attachment (TrackClip PRO) only if you need it. It's useful, but not necessary if your room doesn't get direct sunshine. -
Maybe the wide spread pattern was somehow a requirement for this demonstration? I have read that gun gets much more accurate with steeper dive, since small elevation errors don't spread out that much. And also, armour is usually much thinner from above. I don't know if these runs are exactly the way they do things real combat.

Thank you for the video! Cockpit looks great! Yeah, it is "brand new", but so are the most in reality right now. Concrete bump map seems a bit overdone - it looks like it's uneven by more than 2 cm, and I doubt real airfields are so degraded or badly made. I think the "glow" or HDR-look is just by-product of video conversion, which is quite bad - Youtube 720p HD is capable of much better picture. But enough whining. It's nice that the developers remembered their own forum, as lately most of the information came out through other channels (E3, interviews on other sites). Looking forward to the next instalments, and I hope developers will describe what level upgrade our A-10C will have. Precision Engagement Increment 3.1, 3.2 or 3.3? Do we have SADL Data link? Blue Force Tracker?

Interview with Matt Wagner and New Screens from DCS: A10
Bwaze replied to JelalTrueshot's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Images from the interview, so you can view them all at once, without the flash gallery: Have you noticed the HUD? I haven't seen such realistic representation in a game before. And the cockpit makes me salivate... :P -
Interview with Matt Wagner and New Screens from DCS: A10
Bwaze replied to JelalTrueshot's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I'm wondering about one thing. Can the Litening pod project image on the HUD of A-10C? In the "Desert Litening" interview on SimHQ we read: I haven't found much about A-10C and Litening, except this: So, can the Litening in real life A-10C project image on HUD? Will we see this in DCS A-10C? -
Simped non-USB rudder pedals without Cougar
Bwaze posted a topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Quite a lot of people use these brilliant German made pedals with their Thrustmaster Cougars. Hall sensor, load cell toe brakes, and in case of Simped F-16 they even look like the part: The problem is that many of us bought these pedals without thinking that they would outlast Cougars. Since the Thrustmaster Warthog doesn't have the 15-pin Gameport input for rudder, buyers will have to find other solutions. DHS Electronics website states that the pedals are not ordinary gameport connection: 15pol Sub-D connector for HOTAS (no gameport!) One is of course keeping the Cougar and using the stick base for the (somewhat bulky and pricey) adapter. But since I hope to sell my Cougar to ease the financial burden of buying Warthog, I wanted to find out other options. I contacted DHS Electronics (makers of Simped pedals), and Gunter Hoffman kindly provided these replies: It looks that it's not simple analogue connection, so hooking to Leo Bodnar's board is not an option. But the good news is that DHS Electronic are testing available digital gameport to USB adaptors. I have googled mentioned "SuperJoyBox7", and it looks an inexpensive Chinese adapter (under 10 $ or EUR): Super Joybox 7 - Gameport to USB Converter -
Surely you mean Slovakia, this is Slovenian airpower: Some even have somewhat modern cockpit: Pilatus PC-9m. SLovenian designation Hudournik. Nice little training aircraft.

Well, I think DCS: A-10C will also have some components of A-10C Desk Top Simulator for Air National Guard removed or changed, due to their classified nature. I understand that, and I don't assume that after playing DCS Ka-50 or A-10C I could just jump into the aircraft and hijack it. What I'm wondering is, could the next DCS module be made without inside military information? Outside information (books, articles, declassified manuals) is often very sparse, and up until now we have been content with the "guesswork" of game developers. I would love to see a multirole aircraft in DCS suite, either F/A-18 or F-16. So many things to do... But to think that insanely realistic A-10C simulation with all the new avionics and weapons will be available this year... Can't wait!!! Ctrl-Y, Ctrl-Y, Ctrl-Y!
