Been away for some time, was very happy to see the BS2 release, but this is bad news. Do I wait..? From experience, given time every expansion & add-on is eventually bundled and wrapped in a nice neat package.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
martinistripes replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Check my signature. Trust me, I am 100% for helicopters. And yes, a dynamic campaign would of course be nice. After the F** release, that'll be two American fixed-wings in the bag. I'm hopeful I'll find the release after this more interesting. -

You would settle? In that case, I'm sure ED will jump straight on it! Seriously, what is it with people and the F16. I don't get it. Personally, I prefer something dated with flaws than an aircraft I can own everything in. I enjoy being challenged as the underdog. Plus, the older the aircraft the more likely we will get 100% accuracy without minor ommisions for security reasons. Anyway... as people have already said. It's decided and if we don't get the aircraft we want, we just got to be thankful that we're getting the things we are at this level of fidelity. Each to their own desires though, and no offence Flying Bull. It's funny to see just how badly everyone yearns for their own slice of heaven. -
Welcome to the forum Subber. :) Personally, I'm happy they changed it to Russian (as it would be in reality).

Come on ED, be reasonable. Just give us every modification Kamov ever did to the Shark ...EVER. We gotta play with the hog soon!:helpsmilie:

Can´t taking out Abrams with one shot.

Apologies. I didn't realise this. -
Can´t taking out Abrams with one shot.
martinistripes replied to RodrigoMF_BR's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Personally, I find it hard to believe that two shots are required MINIMUM to make the tank an ineffective fighting machine. If it's two shots minimum, you're basically saying that the possibility of a single missile making the tank ineffective on the battlefield, is negligible. And as I said, I think the probability in real life, is likely much higher. -
Outstanding Major Bugs in Black Shark?
martinistripes replied to Nate--IRL--'s topic in Bugs and Problems
Engine start-up sounds. You did some testing on this already Nate -mentioned in an earlier thread. Start left engine. Sound increases as normal until at idle. Start right engine and left engine noise stops suddenly. -
Realistic repairs option for future versions?
martinistripes replied to TulsA-10's topic in DCS Wishlist
The brilliant Richard Burns Rally game comes to mind. On realistic damage, you could drive a stage without any collisions but the suspension, tyres, brakes and other components would wear. At the service station stops you had a certain time allocated for repairs and you could select components to receive attention by what you thought was priority. Often, your crew didn't have sufficient time to replace or repair everything so you would enter the next stage with previous damages. Another nice touch was that once you'd confirmed what work you wanted doing, you got a brief run down on exactly what the service crew were doing to achieve that repair albiet in quick time with an accelerated clock ticking. Again, in a dynamic campaign this would be perfect. If the next mission was critical but the aircraft wasn't 100%, you would fly it anyway. Personally, I'd like this feature. It would make players take less risks and thus fly in a more realistic manner. -
Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but I take it this was never resolved. What I'm experiencing isn't about my hardware being capable of high enough FPS, as most the time I've got about 60. It's more about when you're flying low and look out the left or right side at the near ground. It's almost as if the hard drive is being accessed intermittantly. My hard drive's defragged completely and it doesn't matter if I run the sim on high or low settings. It always seems to be there. I'm just curious if it is the drive being accessed and if so, would a solid state drive eliminate it.

Thanks, this was helpful. Seems in the T, my rudder axis was mapped to my thrust. Hence it wouldn't stay at 0 when trying to fire her up. :doh:If I'd tested the control surfaces properly, I no doubt would have seen this.

Been playing with the Su-25 a lot past few days. Decided to start the campaign Revanche. First mission, no problems. However 2nd mission I was thrown in to the T variant. In this aircraft, I can't get the engines to start. I even tried changing the keys. Same for single mission also. Su-25 fine, Su25T nothing. What I have noticed, is when I press the engine start buttons, the green indicators above the temp. gauges flicker. They flash on, and immediately back off again. Am I missing something?

Well... I've had FC2 sat on my shelf at home for too long without having played it. I was bogged down with the Ka-50. Recently though, I've given the Ka-50 a rest whilst waiting for improvments & tweaks in the next patch. So, I picked up FC2, bored one day. Hmmm, lets give this a go. With the Su-25 having the better flight model I decided to give it a once over. Wow! The Frogfoot's a lot of fun; I'm quite engrossed. Just wanted to share. The aircraft feels very weighty, and of course on my first landing, I was watching in horror as the end of the tarmac got closer and closer. Then I remembered it has a chute. Quite a difference in start-up complexity. One button for electrics, one to start the engines. :D

Ka-50 Fascinated (Bought without hesitation) A-10C Mildly interested (Waiting for DVD release and will buy to support EDs efforts, probably won't play it much) F-18C No interest (Will not buy) Next... -
Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
martinistripes replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Re-living 'Top Gun' or 'Wings of the Apache' in DCS fidelity... ahh a sweet dream. Even better, Flight of the Intruder (A6) - this would be freakin' awesome. If you know the movie you will understand the scope. I wish ED could divide into 2. One half continues DCS as it is. The other begins a new line of products 'DCS Classics' or maybe 'DCS Legends'. -
Cachya - anyone using it?
martinistripes replied to yonyz's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Try this. It's free and much better and you don't need a silly piece of paper. Read through the thread and experiment to find the right settings. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=56837 I bought Cachya in beta shortly before they abandoned the project. -
Ahh! But we know how capable the guys at ED are and the things currently niggling us with BS are well within their scope to fix. Except maybe the AI, which I've no doubt is a highly complex issue that will be honed over the years. You will probably find by the very nature of the product ED is selling, a large portion of their fan base are thorough, methodical types that scrutinise everything. A hard crowd to please as we can see. :D
-
I see this from both sides. And there's a difference between asking politely and nagging. I think we've asked politely and ED understand. BS players are unhappy because there's no patch and (possibly more importantly) no news. Nagging will just p*** ED off and make the work more labour than love. Lets face it, better if they love their work. Right? I still haven't played through BS yet because I'm not content that it's at it's best. When I do start the campaign, I want it to be in all it's glory, polished and complete. It's frustrating knowing that it got sooo close to where it needed to be and then got put on the shelf for the obvious... I will buy A-10C (when it's released on disc) if only to support the project, but at the moment can't help feeling like I had the door slammed in my face when the Warthog was announced. Because, as people have said already, there's been nothing for us. Black Shark players should be commended on their patience. And I'm surprised BS patching threads haven't surfaced more often. We have the near perfect simulator within grasp but a few small niggles are spoiling the broth. I'm not sure there's anymore that can be said on this topic and I'm sure ED now know how we feel. ...Time for some more waiting. :noexpression:

Let's just hope they don't begin work on another module until there's a bit of polish on the two they already released. You know, on 1C Company's IL2 forum news is posted regularly. The people there seem rather happy (apart from the odd ranter) and appreciative. Can we not try again with the news here and just ignore the disgruntled idiots?
-
You won't. But there are always options to increase or decrease graphics quality. Also, you can't hold back progress simply because some users want to play on their older machines.

+1 isoul The quick realease of a patch for A-10C astounded me, when BS has been left stagnating for so long.

Battle of Britain - more than dynamic campaign!
martinistripes replied to Bucic's topic in Chit-Chat
I decided to buy this and give it a try. The menus, resolution and controller setup are terrible. Still not sure why there are no keys allocated to all the different functions when I go into controller setup. Anyway, I patched to 2.11 and had a quick fly about today. Played one on one. And tried your nvidia control panel settings Bucic. Notticed some glitches, I think in near clouds and AA smoke puffs. Nice effects though. One thing I dislike is the physics and damage model seems different to IL2. For instance in IL2 I can make an un powered landing in a field and survive. I like the way the plane will skim across the floor eratically, sometimes kart wheeling and exploding. Sometimes staying in tact. With BoBII, it seems any contact with the floor immediately takes you to 'the death screen' ie rotating around your burning aircraft -which is also rubbish. It deserves more attention though for sure. And it is nice to have some different AI behaviour! -
I don't even want to fly the A-10C but I'm going to buy it anyway (on disc) just to support future development of the series. And if you like the A-10 and Black Shark is anything to go by, you will probably cream your pants.
