I cancelled. :D

I'm sure it can be done. Just no one choose to do it yet. Personally I'd rather fly an early variant than a modern one. The machines complex enough without having the longbow system. Plus I always thought that big bulbous thing on the rotor head was bloody ugly.

Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List

The Flanker will be the next Eagle Dynamics DCS module after the F/A-18C and arrive in 2017. Just my guess, don't quote me. -
Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List

:megalol: Please stop! My sides are hurting! -
The fly-fighting gets old quick. Lots of indestructible guys punching each other through buildings. When you've landed an explosive railway carriage on someone with no affect, clearly a punch to the face isn't going to cut it either. And it was only in these scenes that you knew you were watching CGI as opposed to real actors. Give CGI fighting another 10 years... it might be ready, but not yet. That aside, I loved the sci-fi aspect and more believable parts of the movie. The costumes, spacecraft and technology are excellent. Someone also said to me 'Yeah, but it's not the 80's superman is it?'. Actually, I think this modern take on things is more entertaining (at least today) than sitting through one of the original movies. Looking forward to next big sci-fi Elysium. :)

I'll take the Mi-8 before the Huey. For me, an odd choice is sometimes the more interesting choice. It's partly why it was love at first sight when I met ED's Ka-50. Was it an Mi-8 in Battlefield 2. I used to love coaxing people onto that thing offering them a fast ride back into the action. Mostly though, we'd never reach the action.

I remember all the ruffled feathers when ED refused to add AA missiles to the Ka-50 because they were never used in active service. Now this?

I'm trying to re-create a moment from an old favourite 'Wings of The Apache'. Basically I want an artillery/mortar strike on the airfield as soon as the mission begins. I tried setting up some artillery pieces with 'attack point' command. Problem is, it takes them 2 - 3 minutes to start firing (depending on skill) and then a while for the shells to travel to the airfield. So, I can be airborne already before the first rounds land. I tried 'explosion' and a trigger zone, but then the explosion is continously in the same spot. I also tried setting my units start time to a delayed time (ie 3 minutes after mission start). But then the mission begins and I'm stuck viewing the artillery pieces. What I want is rounds landing randomly on the airfield from the moment I enter the cockpit. Any suggestions?

+1 Looks like it needs some love. Poor ED. The community demand, 'We want X!'. ED give us X with cherrys on top. Then another part of the community asks, 'Why didn't you give us Y?'

As I said, this tearing must be nvidia related. I had v-sync enabled in game only with no FPS limit and TrackIR5. There's been no tearing visible so the sync seems to work. Just in case I'd been missing something, I tried limiting FPS to 30. It made no visible difference to the sync, just made the game look consistently slower most the time.
-
I'm not always at 60 and I don't get tearing. I know exactly what your you're talking about because I get it heavily in IL2 if I switch to OpenGL rendering. It must be an nvidia/driver thing.

I posted the same thing a while back when I was stuck using my older back-up laptop (new one was in for repair). I lowered all the settings and still found I was having a blast. The physics and aircraft dynamics are what make it for me. I've considered 30fps sluggish for a long time in any game. I'll always drop the gloss for extra frames. That's why it's a shame ED can't get on top of these smoke/explosion effects. As a suggestion, you could also lower your AA to x2. If you're like me, you'll quickly get used to it. Plus you get the added benefit of noticing smaller details (action/explosions/units) in the distance. The difference is surprising if you want to spot things early. I don't know the technicalities of it but 4 xAA will smooth tiny pixel details into something you can no longer see. EDIT: PS. Surprised to discover nvidia users are getting tearing. I've got none with my HD6990m using TrackIR5.

Could be a number of things but it's not the sim, since it's been very stable for a long time now. If you auto-updated to the latest version of DCS, have the latest video and sound drivers and Windows up to date, decent anti-virus/spyware I can only guess it's your hardware playing up. Your GPU and RAM are fine. I'm not sure about the P4. It's an older CPU, perhaps it's coming to the end of it's life. Good luck finding a solution.

Anyone Recommend an Su-25T Campaign
martinistripes replied to martinistripes's topic in User Created Missions General
Operation Cyclone http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/231171/ It's the only one I found, but seems good so far. I had thought about deleting a few SAMs. My guess is that most people will use an invulnerable pilot and keep hitting re-fly until they succeed. The high chance of death probably doesn't concern them. -
Nice choice! Iconic and rarely (if ever) simulated.
-
This has happened recently with the latest 1.2.4 version. I play Geogian Oil War in Su-25T until I'm killed a few missions in. I erase the dead pilot and exit. Later, I return to DCS World create a new pilot and start a new campaign. When I try to enter the first mission it appears as though it's loading and then immediately brings me to the debriefing screen. I click to progress to the next mission and that one then loads and puts me in the cockpit as normal. I've also had experiences of 'vulnerable' pilots having multiple deaths on their log. But I think this might be due to playing instant action. Perhaps instant action kills & deaths could be excluded from the pilot log so as not to confuse things.

HUD diamond target marker in Instant Action mission
martinistripes replied to Fishbreath's topic in Su-25T Issues
This is correct, but they also appear without the pod. My understanding is, that your wingman is designating targets and linking them to you. Or friendly ground forces are designating them. I'd really like someone to clarify though. If the wingman is designating them, his spider senses need to be reduced because you'll get one target after another without any delays inbetween. Like his ability to spot and call targets, it's over the top. -
HUD diamond target marker in Instant Action mission

In my own experience the diamond has always been an enemy ground target. I've never seen or used it for navigation. -
HUD diamond target marker in Instant Action mission

I don't know. But I hate the diamonds. Feels like I'm cheating knowing exactly where the bad guys are before I'm close enough to see them. -
Of course. There's a lot of love for the 25. It'll be great when all the 2D cockpits are gone for good. There can't be many left now. Mig-29, Su-33, Su-25T... right? We'll look back at those things fondly and think 'man, were they ugly!'.
-
...is correct, but that's not what was said. Slippery Pete seems to think DCS: F-15 and Su-27 will be released without fully clickable pits. My understanding is that ED will release mid-level F-15C and Su-27 for DCS World. This is different to DCS: F-15C and DCS: Su-27. Later, after the release of DCS: F/A-18 they will upgrade the F-15C and Su-27 to full DCS fidelity. My guess is they'll charge again for those that want the full works as opposed to the mid-level releases (and rightly so). It's been explained before DCS:F-15C is not the same as F-15C for DCS World. Each DCS badged aircraft is a prestigious achievement and what sets ED apart from other sim makers. I really doubt they're gonna start throwing them out half baked.

Read the announcement again.

Just wondering if there are any decent Su-25T campaigns that others have played. The Georgian Oil War is driving my nuts; I can't get past 2 or 3 missions in without being killed. Ideally, I'd like to play something a bit less SAM heavy. I can't believe real pilots would fly CAS with so many SAMs flying at them.

I've noticed on many occasions when damaging the undercarriage there's a sound effect that seems to be stuck on loop. The aircraft can come to complete stop but the sound effect still plays. Sometimes external view will just shows a blown tire, but there's a constant humming, hydraulic sound. Seems very out of place. It's been happening through a few versions now. I thought it would've been reported already.
