  1. Will ATC make us do 360's to wait before landing when a heavy has just landed or taken off? :D
  2. The video link is not public yet though, not sure it's intended ;) Just out of curiosity, is that normal the pilot is always offset to the right in those videos, is it the natural cockpit arrangement? UPDATE Just a few hints for the training: - the little set-up test is a nice touch! - it's obviously mainly a VFR flight, normally those are performed with a flight plan and it includes headings, timings and visual landmarks (with timings), that would be a nice immersive touch too. There is mention of a flight plan, we just don't see any. As for the video, which seems to have been made in a rush: - I winced at the taxiing and runway entry, no approach free check and completely misaligned ;) - the overall navigation in the video is a bit puzzling, at some point the pilot seems to turn for a very long while with a very small bank angle, above other waypoints he turns with an almost 90° bank angle, without looking at the altitude variation.... not sure how he can manage to stay on his planned route and altitude? - no checklist? - the landing... yeah ;)
  3. I didn't see it was related to the Hornet, in the newletter it's in the DCS World category. But it's said to be "Available now in the Open Beta and coming soon" (?!), so it's not clear whether it's in today's update or not (it's not in the log), I suppose it's not yet in the OB. Or we'll have to test! :D I'm curious to see if that's also perceived on the ground, it was a common mistake in X-Plane, and it was also slightly visible in one of the Tomcat videos but hopefully it was a false impression. It's great news, this will make it more realistic for sure. UPDATE Wags' video clarifies this: "As mentioned in today’s newsletter, one of the new features coming soon to DCS World will be wing tip vortices that cause turbulence. Still a Work in Progress (WIP), here is a little video showing the effect when flying in and out of them. This will be applied to all aircraft, but naturally scale based on the aircraft type."
  4. I second that, this campaign, and the Agro campaign which also has some training (including auto-rotation landing!), really help getting into that module! Oh yes, that would be awesome :) In all modules with 2+ seats, actually. We're probably too far from an AI capable of flying realistically in an ASM (Advanced Systems Modeling) aircraft, but there would be much to discover and enjoy as a copilot/RIO/...
  5. "eternal alpha" is perhaps a bit exaggerated, the features announced on the store page are in, and while some of the features break now and then with DCS updates like any other module, it remains the best implementation of the Huey in a sim (convincing ground effect and VRS are pretty rare to come across, even in X-Plane). All that seems correct, except maybe the "training course" is a bit exaggerated, it's just 3 basic training missions.
  6. It's coming from this announcement by ED beginning of January: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3735501&postcount=177
  7. Oh waw! So much more realistic!
  8. Very thorough start-up procedure, enjoyed all the details and the bit of humour, very well played! :) Is there some room for emergency procedures? That's often overlooked though it's one of the main concern of every pilot when climbing into an aircraft, especially after all that happened in the prototypes of this one. I'm not sure which faults are modelled, but there must surely be a few interesting ones.
  9. Same story as for the Harrier... Sent a PM to Heatblur dev, no response whatsoever, I've uploaded the fix here for what it's worth: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3303202/ I probably won't maintain it as DCS is updated, so expect that to become incompatible at some point and check before applying ;)
  10. Sent a PM to Razbam dev, no response whatsoever, I've uploaded the fix here for what it's worth: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3303203/ I probably won't maintain it as DCS is updated, so expect that to become incompatible at some point and check before applying ;)
  11. I made a cold start mission on NTTR that follows the real procedure, perhaps I should put that somewhere (I think I did, actually). No voice, though.
  12. How's the manual progressing? Do you need some help with the proofreading? There were such complaints on the language, actually, because the voice was Russian when English locale settings were set (for the L-39), which makes no sense. In the MiG-19 it is coherent with the user settings. Regarding the 4K issue mentioned several times, and from what I see on the video, the subtitles are shown in the usual log window, so they'll be at whatever resolution you are using with your monitor when running the training mission. It's just a temporary issue with Youtube, but we'll all be able to read them in DCS :)
  13. Voice over is spot-on, very realistic. Don't change anything! :) I would definitely get rid of the beeps, they're just annoying and serve no purpose in a video, apart from disrupting the immersion (hopefully they're not in the actual mission?). The 4K is probably unfortunate, the voice is perfectly understandable but for people who're not at ease with English I'd get down to a more standard 1080p. Not that it matters once the training mission is available.
  14. Etymologically and originally, it means recounting, giving an account of, which does not apply in this case. Its secondary use relates to spoken commentary, which better applies to a training mission, so it could easily be interpreted that way (even more so in the context given by the store page). Most training missions of earlier aircraft are limited to text, the more recent modules, aircraft and campaigns, are usually spoken. In any case, these training missions could benefit from an update, especially the cold & dark which is just a farce (and, besides showing a sloppy procedure, it is also broken at several places).
  15. +1 on that! I think at some point, no matter how many add-ons you add to a system (new aircraft in DCS, for instance), it just won't satisfy customers anymore, then it's time to have a pause and focus on consolidating the base components of a system to make it stable and more "welcoming" to the add-ons. I've seen that several times in big projects. It's never easy when there are so many intertwined features, of course, and it's too easy for customers to get fixated on the one specific feature they want and that hasn't been addressed yet :)
  16. No rush, I'm sure we can wait a bit :) ... though in agonizing anticipation :D
  17. Yeah, I'm curious about that as well. When looking at the forums, I see an update ... and no, it's not an expected release, only the Steam transfer thread again :/ But then I don't see these stealthy updates... not sure why they do that now, it's very confusing (last time after the email newsletter, I though they had just forgotten to update the forums). Will those dynamic campaigns exclusively for MP, and not for SP?
  18. I think Razbam wanted to do that, but I'm guessing they are in a rush right now and didn't find the time to publish those videos (see they November update video). Anyway, I'm not sure we'd need a video if we have the training mission, the latter is usually much more instructive and obviously more didactic. The MiG-19 will also be much simpler than the Hornet (though less ergonomic).
  19. Great news, thanks Baltic Dragon!
  20. Any idea whether we'll already have some of the training missions in the initial release or not, by the way? Both were suggested in the forums, so I'd like to know if we have to try and find procedures and other documentation to use the module at the beginning :D I'm sure they will be well done :) Yeah, the right balance serious vs joke shouldn't be hard to find with a public like us. I think the only spectacular failure on that topic was the Fishbed training, it was just wrong (at least the cold-start mission). That's definitely NOT the impression I'd want to give on the first contact with a new module, it also gave a pretty insulting impression of Russian pilots. But the Mirage was just spot-on, serious with a relaxed attitude and a bit of humour, and it seemed to come naturally. The accent was certainly not caricatural either. Most trainings for other modules are also well done in general, if usually a bit terse.
  21. Perhaps the idea is to have a Russian-speaking instructor and an English translator (or interpret) at the same time :D I see your point, I suppose that if I knew enough Russian I'd prefer it that way too. I hate to watch dubbed movies, for example, I much prefer the original audio when it's English (I'm native French). My only issue is having to read long texts all the time in this tiny log box, otherwise it's nice to hear other languages, especially Russian and German. We'll see what they come up with in the training missions - hopefully soon :)
  22. Oh no, please never that again! That's pretty annoying to have to read the text all the time, and it's not really realistic for immersion anyway, after all we're all speaking English (in these forums), so the correct implementation would be a Russian instructor who can speak English. Would you rather have a Russian version of the manual, menus and so on? ;) Not that I wouldn't like to learn this language, it's just a matter of available time. Actually, some modules have Russian voices in training missions when you set that language, so it's still an option for who wants that.
  23. Apparently we won't have to wait too long :) As I understand, there won't be training missions at the release, so we'll need some well-made videos to compensate ;) EDIT Although reading the thread a little further, they seem to say otherwise than Baltic Dragon:
  24. @whoever massively deleted previous messages, "Reason: Not relevant to the thread": By reading the posts, you would have seen that it was a discussion of the status of the MiG-19 at release versus other Razbam's modules and the worry that it would be incomplete. So it was relevant, maybe not all of them, but a good part.
  25. Weren't we promised more videos on the MiG-19 one month ago? :P
