Caucasus Map Texture DLC by Starway
Gliptal replied to Starway's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I'm pretty sure it was mentioned already in this thread, SweetFX won't work. -
Thanks for this!

Nice, seems like a reasonable protocol. That said, let's assume I'm a Single Player user and I use a bunch of SP modules, that either edit .lua files or add textures. Will this integrity check prevent me from running the game althogether, forcing even SP mods to have a manifest, or is it only a check that happens when connecting to MP servers?
-
Does this affect single player as well or is it only an issue when trying to join multiplayer servers?
-
Well it's not that hard. Are you refueling at the correct speed?

Also interested in this, since I plan to print it out. -
You're welcome!

And I'm sold. Yay!

I don't know if it's related, but the TM Warthog has a similar issue where hitting one of the diagonal inputs while holding for a long press would immediately have it register as a short press. I do not own an X55, but if it's coolie hat has diagonals, maybe try to disable them in the software and see if this fixes the issue.

I haven't had a problem with this. Although the AI does need some work, it actually helps quite a bit, and will manuever the boom into the receptacle if you're in range and stable enough.

You are breaking while going too fast. Use you airbrakes for the initial slowdown, and only then apply wheel brakes. Don't bother looking at the stupidly short AI braking distance, it's due to them using the SFM and is impossible to achieve for the player.
-
As St3v3f said. Also, keep in mind you only have a set amount of "charges" when using the emergency brake, so do not tap and don't try to taxi with it.

I wrote a short review of the TEW campaign by Baltic Dragon, that you can find here. tl;dr I really liked it, and Baltic Dragon's work is so good I'd really like to get as many people as possible interested in it.

The Enemy Within is a DLC campaign for the A-10C module for DCS. It is arguably the first real campaign available for the Warthog, considering the less than stellar quality of the free Georgian Hammer campaign. As the DLCs pitch itslef states, it comes with full voiceovers (most of which are well acted and of good audio quality), plenty of documentation in the form of FRAGOs, and well written briefings that try to describe the atmosphere of a briefing room rather than simply list the mission objectives. This is done by presenting a number of different military professionals, although amidst all the colonels, lieuteneants and majors the standouts are only a few. Still, the world building really helps with the immersion, and it thus becomes easy to feel invested in the overall story told by the campaign. This revolves around a supposed small terrorist group threatening Georgia, that forces an A-10 flight wing to relocate on one of the country's military bases to aid in the Georgian military COIN (COunter INsurgency) operations. A couple of other countries join the fight as the campaign progresses, on both sides. The rare geopolitical liberties do not hinder the narrative arch, that is well told and remarkably engaging. This is probably due to a lot of the main events happening during the missions, rather than being simply recounted in the briefings. The missions themselves are diverse in structure and objectives, and never feel out of place or unrealistic. The player never faces overwhelming odds, but most of the operations still manage to pose quite a challenge. The overall feel really brings home the COIN aspect of the whole campaign, something that really lacks in most other available content, that seem to focus more on big armored clashes. If a real life analogy is to be made, the missions in The Enemy Within are much closer to the modern Afghanistan employement of the A-10C than they are to an all out war like Desert Storm (although the A model was in use back then). Regardless, the missions are still complex and require a certain dose of skill to complete successfully, especially on the first try. Notably though, there is close to no trial and error mechanichs. The way the author approached mission building makes for very stable and hard to break situations, barring a couple of very event heavy missions that may show some weird behaviour in fringe cases. The campaign makes full use of most if not all the capabilities of the A-10C and its weaponry. The player is expected to be able to handle the airframe with a pretty high degree of confidence, given how nearly every single weapon and system is used at least once during the 21 missions long campaign. One notable exception is the lack of laser targeting, although this may very well be a workaround in regards to the current fluid state of DCS, that seems to intermittedly break certain gameplay elements. Luckily enough, the missions are so well structured that single events may (silently or not) fail without forcing a restart; the rare times something happens, the mission can still be completed in an organic fashion. Support by the campaign creator himself Baltic Dragon is quick on the forums, meaning any problems are added to the public bug tracker and fixed for subsequent updates. Right now these are on hold until DCS 2.5, although the current iteration is already mostly bug-free, and completely bug-free of any gamebreaking bugs. For 15€ (or your regional equivalent), this is a must buy for whoever owns the A-10C and is looking for a structured, story-driven challenge. The campaign may also ease in less than experienced pilots, provided they are content in replaying some of the more difficult missions more than once.

Only up to a certain point. The ATC state right now is pretty laughable, it really needs a revamp and it shouldn't be paid DLC. Same goes for the AI. -

Mission 21: - Hot start, but I see it already is in the bug tracker. - I wouldn't change the snow to make it easier to use the NVGs. They are useful enough, especially if you tinker around with the gain a bit. - Dat crosswind tho. - 3 out of 4 BOAR A-10Cs hit the side of the mountains at grid 38T LN 1 3. 2 out of 4 F-16s share the same fate at grid 38T MM 1 2. -
What about dealing with the clickable cockpits? Is using the mouse still viable?

So is VR viable? Mainly about the HUD and MFCDs readability, since I know the DK2 made it really hard to use them. Sorry for the derailing. -

Yep. Only strange thing that happened is that the fleeing T55 destroyed the fleeing ZSU (the latter passed in front of the former just as a shell was fired), but it was such a strange and unlikely thing I didn't feel the need to report it. -

Mission 20: - Flight plan suggest taking off and landing from runway 07, whereas it's from runway 25 (correctly, given the wind). - An overhead break triggers the briefing. -
Wizardry (Spoilers)
Gliptal replied to paulca's topic in A-10C The Enemy Within Campaign (legacy version)
During the mission I thought they were destroyed since I sent my wingan to take care of air defenses and the JTAC called all clear. I like this behaviour from the enemy AI, darkness really becomes a strong ally this way.
