  1. I noticed that at night both ZSUs and MANPADS very rarely engage you, even when flying low. Here's what I did, succeded the first try: - Stayed at 8000ft the whole mission. - Had my wingman attack the MANPAD. - Used my three Mk82s on the outpost, taking out the building. - Cleared the MH-60s, although interestingly enough I found out in TacView that the AAA emplacements were not destroyed; either a bug, or nighttime cover. That said, it makes logical sense since I killed all personell with the bombs. - Used one Maverick on the first mosque ZSU truck, and guns on the second. Again, it never fired on me. - Used my second Maverick on the convoy ZSU as soon as I was allowed to. - Loitered the area until ordered to RTB. I feel quite safe when flying COINOPs at night. All AAA and MANPADS rely on visuals, and the AI seems to (realistically?) have problems identifying and engaging any attacking aircraft. A couple of sidenotes: - If you're having problems with the TGP losing track, whether because of hills and mountains or manuevering (it seems to happen more often at night), use markpoints and keep the TAD as SPI generator. - Turn your external lighting off (formation lights are fine). It actually makes it harder for the AI to spot you. - Pay close attention to the briefing, and to the communications during the mission.

  3. Mission 19: - FRAGO states 120 chaff and 180 flare, whereas you're carrying 60 chaff and 210 flare. - Wingman does not respond on 251 UHF until just after the first message from the AMC.
  4. Makes sense. Thanks for these posts Eddie, they're always insightful and greatly appreciated. Yeah I'd love to see a guide of some sort listing all the things that you can do in DCS that wouldn't work or be allowed IRL.
  5. Thanks. I guess Mavericks aren't useful enough in current scenarios to warrant modifications in the LAU-88 or on the A-10C hardpoints.
  6. Is it still for possible damage?
  7. I seem to recall "pretty much never", since the third maverick has a chance of damaging some part of the airframe when launched.

    IFR

IFR flying is the best kind of flying.
  9. Now that I see the TGP shots, I may very well consider buying this. Good job Starway.
  10. As long as free modding options are left available with 2.5 and beyond, I see no problema with this. The only qualms I had were in the case a lockdown occurred, forcing everyone to stay with the old textures or buy a DLC. As I stands, this is not an issue. The TGP though is a binary go or no-go for whomever flies the A-10C: I'd add some comparison screenshots to the OP.
  11. As a reminder, to calm the discussion down: Wagner said textures will not be locked down in the future. With that said, we really need to hear about the TGP.
  12. What about the TGP Starway? If the noise is at vanilla levels, this pack is a no buy for whoever flies the A-10C.
  13. Also, the Isreali Apaches are impressively bad shots.
  14. I'm back with the nitpicking. Mission 17: - FRAGO lists ALQ-184 twice, whereas you are not actually carrying it in the mission. - FRAGO lists 1 AIM-9M, whereas you are carrying 2.
  15. I was playing the scramble mission in TEW the other day, and couldn't get the AP to work after 3.8 0.8 alignment. It worked as soon as I finished another in air alignment though. Either a fluke, or maybe they changed something lately?
  16. I'm referring to the INS alignment during startup. First number is seconds passed, second is precision. That's probably due to the broken FLIR. Try a texture pack like Barthek's.
  17. Also, you need full alignment for the AP to work: 3.9 0.8 won't work.
  18. Only now found this mod. Excellent work, downloading!
  19. ED doesn't like giving its stance on anything but what directly brings them more money.
  20. Most of the available weapons need a revamp in the damage model anyway.
  21. AFAIK that switch is used by the IFFCC to compute weapon solutions, and switching it to either setting does not change the HUD output. That said, you can add an AGL ladder on the HUD (only appears below 1500ft) under one of the IFFCC submenus.
  22. CCD equipped Mavericks have shorter locking ranges than one would expect, at least in the sim: use -Ds. Also, one of the latest updates implemented the keyhole concept Kimi_uy mentioned.
  23. I've never had performance problems related to the TGP, but 1.5.3 did introduce lag and stuttering.
  24. Are you sure? My MFCDs don't move with the trackir, although I have only two screens and they're placed one near the other. I'm using the basic DCS exporting functions.
  25. Can't find a way to set neither those CDU settings not the 3-9 IFFCC setting. I did find the files that lists all the options in the two pages, but it doesn't seem to be a way to change the defaults I'll try something tomorrow and see if it ends up working.
