  1. Hi Thanks for the update. Sounds good. What are the distortions like after you used the debug tool. Also how is it for smoothness. Got a I9 overclocked to 5ghz and a Strix 3090 here. Some have said you get used to the distortion. Also got the Index currently so ok for the stations etc. What’s it like for nose room? My snoz is slightly bigger than the norm. I suppose you should get it much smoother when Varjo activate their own motion smoothing. I heard they will be taking into account depth so should be on a par with the Oculus which is a much better system than that used by Steam which does not use depth information. Give is an update when you have had time to bed it in. Ready to press the button here. I know it’s expensive but like anything else whether it’s hi fi or sports equipment when you get to the cutting edge you are always going to pay for that privilege. Thanks.
  2. Hi, to be honest it was the intention there should be 50% off the Serpent’s Head 2 in both Steam and standalone so I am unclear why it is not. I will raise your comment with ED and get back to you. Badger633
  3. Hi The term 'Sinker' as used in the campaign means 'Submarine'. This point has been raised once before by another fellow pilot. So I will clarify this in a future update of the campaign by adding a note in the dialogue text so there is no confusion in the future. Hope you are enjoying the campaign and thanks for your comment. 4. . Hope it turns out to be what we all hope for. I think it is really important for DCS especially that they get their own version of motion smoothing up and running ASAP.
  5. Let me know how things work out with the Aero please. Not sure whether to order or not. Cheers
  6. The main thing in night missions generally is to maintain your situational awareness at all times by using all the systems available to you in the Hornet. Also navigate and fly accurately. This a discipline pilots take for granted but in the real world they have to do all the time. Mission 6 will test this. Good luck your almost there. Badger633
  7. It's true, the explosive effects of the shells don't seem to be there quite yet in the sim. Also the window to get a good hit when in range is very short indeed. Hope your enjoying the campaign. Badger633
  8. Glad you both got it sorted . I’ve got to the stage now that I have to keep quick prep notes etc to remind myself rather than read the manual again for the tenth time Started work on the next one but it’s a long road ahead. Badger633
  9. Hi Let me know how it works out. I am sitting on the fence at the moment. If they use a depth buffering smoothing system it should be much better than the Steam system. You don’t get as much ghosting. This because it knows the propeller is in front of the scenery and not part of it. This prevents wobbling and distortion of the propellor or gun sights. A real problem with the Steam system. Thanks
  10. Great. Hope you enjoy the campaign Badger633
  11. You may be aware but with the F18 the comms menu “/“ only works when on the ground. You have to use two other separate bindings for COMM1 and COMM2 for radio use in the air. Badger633
  12. Hi Can you explain what you mean when you say you cannot pass the missions ? Firstly if you simply fly the mission correctly you will pass to the next mission without the F10 by pass menu. The campaign 5 min by pass option allows you to select to move on to the next mission whether or not you pass the current mission. The 5 min period was introduced to so you at least try the mission once to follow the story line. The F10 menu for other things is of course available throughout the mission as normal. Since this ED has introduced its own system for mission bypass and selection which can be used also. Hope this helps Badger633
  13. Hi Make sure you fly aggressively and give him an early shot to make him partly defensive. Yes it was a conscious decision to give you both short range all aspect infrared missiles. This to ensure you have more of a knife fight rather than a BVR to make it more interesting. To be honest I think you still have the advantage with the excellent AIM 9X when used with your HMD. Also it is towards the end of the campaign after all. Hope your enjoying the campaign. Badger633
  14. You can try my free 'Serpent's Head' campaign. One version is in Nevada and the Caucasus, the other just in the Caucasus if you do not own the Nevada map. Each is with or without Supercarrier options, if you have the SC module. This campaign uses emulated voices only. Links below. If you like it then the follow up campaigns , 'Serpent's Head 2' and 'Rise of the Persian Lion' are available from the DCS shop. There is a continuous story line between all three campaigns. You will also find your knowledge and skill will grow as they progress. These later campaigns are fully voiced by actors and have the option of easy air to air refuel. 15. As of today and the last few updates there is a general DCS Tacan bug when trying to locate a airborne Tanker. For the moment when setting up your Tacan for the Tanker do not set AA Hopefully should work then. Hope this helps Badger633

  17. HI Not sure how you can be hit and still fly unless you were only damaged or a missile exploded close by. The SU25's are only invulnerable until they have fired their rockets. ( This to ensure they do indeed attack the airfield as it is an important part of the plot). Once they have done this you will be able to shoot them down. I will fly it and check it out to ensure a DCS update has not introduced a bug relating to this. I will update this message then. Hope this helps Badger633
  18. Hi Firstly the Tacan issue is a DCS bug which has been present over the last few updates. I have raised with ED so hopefully they will get it resolved as it is out of my control, and I cannot currently find a work round. As you probably took some time to find the Tanker because of the Tacan issue the Tanker had been removed in the mission, it does travel for 103 miles. (I used to do this to limit out of sight resources to help VR users). I will change this in the next update to a race course pattern so it always remains there no matter how long the player takes. The winds are 16kts @ 33ft 35kts@1600ft and 33@6600ft. Really the 1600ft wind speed should be a lot lower as wind speed increases normally with height. I will adjust this next update. Regrading the MIG, this can be beaten reasonably easy using the right technique. You are given the direction he is coming from so get your nose on him as soon as possible. You will pick him up on radar. I normally get a missile off as soon as in range, this will mean he will have to be defensive even though you may not hit him. He will probably also launch on you soon after. Go defensive and use flares to escape his missile. Once he has gone past you them have the upper hand. By using your Head mounted display together with your AIM9X missiles you can get a hit on him at almost 90 degrees. He does not have this advantage. Also you need to fly aggressively. Hope this helps. I have never said the campaign is for a Rookie player. Others have said this. I think what they mean is that my campaigns progress from the free 'Serpent's Head Campaign' to this campaign and then on to 'The Rise of the Persian Lion'. In each campaign you progressively have to master certain aspects to progress which helps your flying and knowledge of the aircraft and its systems. Thanks for pointing out those couple of items which I will get updated. Lets hope ED gets this Tacan issue sorted soon. In the meantime all I can advise is locate the Tanker with your radar. EDIT : ED has advised that Tacan for Tankers should work IF AA IS NOT SELECTED WHEN SETTING UP TANKER TACAN at least for the time being. Badger633
  19. Hi Thanks for the kind words. Started work on the next campaign. Yes, this will need you to manipulate the radios more and will include more BVR A2A intercepts. As I say in the ROPL sales text the ethos of the campaign is not necessarily to capture reality but to hopefully produce a series of immersive and interesting missions set within an evolving plot line. The pilot will sometimes find himself in missions tailored to test certain skills which wouldn’t normally happen in reality. As you suggest the missions where bandits are declared quite late are to test the pilots skills at close quarters, so not just BVR engagements. As in the Serpent’s Head, the Serpent’s Head 2 and Rise of the Persian Lion the next one will continue ‘Fords’ exploits within the continuing storyline. Glad you enjoyed the campaign and best of luck with the harder version. Badger633
  20. Hi BN Yes they are delayed units. Always have been. No problems since campaign issue. I will check myself in due course.
  21. Hi zildac Not sure as so many things change all the time. obviously it’s outside of the control of campaign scripting. It is probably best to raise it in the main forum under F/A-18C and bugs. You will see then if others are getting the same problem and it also identifies it to ED if it is. Cheers and thanks. Badger633
  22. Hi I suggested some good tutorials to watch for radar usage in another of my threads. Have a look here : Hope this helps with your radar, it did mine. Badger633
  23. Hi Just checked it out, all ok. You can pick the helos up but remember you are told they are angels 1.6 (1600 feet) so you and your radar focus are probably too high. Would suggest you get yourself down to say 2000 feet. You will then easily pick them up then use 4 bar. Regarding the enemy helos landing on the rigs I need to deal with that. Normally they are killed before getting there. What I had intended to do, and didn't, was put a mission fail if they get to the rigs as this would have meant things wouldn't have gone well for your special forces. Will do this for next update. Hope this helps Badger633
