Game Freeze playing edited single mission / bad weather
Top Jockey replied to Top Jockey's topic in Game Crash
Given my system's 16 GB DDR3 RAM memory, should I change my Page File from auto manager, to custom size ? -
Hello everyone, ( Thank you again @Flappie, the advice to not select full-screen option helped to launch DCS window without any problems. ) My current issue is, the game freezes from time to time on a edited mission of mine: - last open beta - F-14 Carrier Landing mission (edited / modified from instant action missions) - the majority of freezes happen while panning around in F2 view - freezes more frequently when: in bad weather conditions, or several aircraft units in the air, or when using CV-59 Forrestal (but using CVN-74 also freezes DCS) DCS log file and mission file, follow attached. Any help would be appreciated. dcs.log F-14A Carrier Land , CVN-74 BAD weather 1.miz

Hello, 1. Ok will try it, thank you. 2. Somewhat, it is one of my edited missions (from instant action mission Case 1 Landing), where there are a pair of F-14's always flying orbit / patern, just like the S-3 and E-2...

Precisely what is happening with me - also openned a thread.

Hello, With last Open Beta, 2 problems got more persistent: - unable to launch DCS game window, unless WIndows Task Manager is active (if it is the 1st DCS session when PC starts, I must click Task Manager icon and only then DCS game menu appears) - sudden freezes in bad weather missions / with populated Carrier / etc. (frequently CTRL + ALT + DEL won't effect) There's also a " dcs.lock " file at my Saved Games folder, which I can't add here ? dcs.log dcs.log.old debrief.log

Completely agree, cordiality is needed.

Hello, Same problem here - unable to run game: - after updating to Open Beta 2.7.17.29493 - it gets stuck at initial DCS screen after login; - the small blue circle (with mouse cursor) keeps spining forever. Did a repair already but no success. Would appreciate help. Thank you.
-
Completely agree.

I do, although the graphics weren't exactly "outstanding" (quite the contrary) for its time, I enjoyed it a lot : - several modern avionics features, tipical of a modern era jet; - Helmet Mounted Sight & ASRAAM missiles; - LGB's with the respective targeting POD, etc. Grotesque detail I recal: if ejecting the pilot while flying inverted over the runway ... there would be a red spot around the body on the ground !

Announcing the F-4 Phantom for DCS World!
Top Jockey replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Yep, also had that ideia in the bold, (from other sims). Although for AIM-9 employment the gunsight didn't provide much info ... but it was the technoloy available at the time. -
This in bold ^ Completely agree.

Don't know if people already saw these threads also, but as they are related here they go : https://forum.dcs.world/topic/285899-phantom-fg1-f-4k/ https://forum.dcs.world/topic/261951-hms-ark-royal-r09-beginning-development/

Thank you for the insight. That's a pity; in that case the J-11 or Su-30 mod (and not the MiG-31) seem to have the longest reach AA missiles from the "Red side"... The Phonenix is doing a Loft profile as follows: - when fired from above 40.000 ft altitude; - starts a pitch up climbing maneuver of 51 degrees; - and gets to 148.000 ft altitude before starting slowly the descending part of its flight. ... is the above realistic ?
-
Hello everyone, I've tried long range BVR shots between my F-14A vs the MiG-31 ( AI ), expecting it to pose a credible dificulty / threat, as it is supposed to be a "Long Range Interceptor". ... but no avail, as it never shot its R-33 against my Tomcat from greater distances. Indeed it always fired its R-40R before the R-33, and certainly always from less than half the distance I was able to shot him with my AIM-54's. So I've read all the answers here, including @Маэстро's one, but I'm still with the doubt : - is the relatively "short" range of the R-33 in DCS correct - as is in real life ? - or, is the R-33's range under performing in DCS ? Is the R-33 maximum range / reach / distance supposed to be close the the AIM-54 afterall or not ? Thank you.
-
Oh I see, thank you. (I was getting confused as from what I recal only the F-16 does have a Dogfight switch.) In the F-14 I call those the Close Combat Radar modes, or something.
-
Hello, Which exactly is the Dogfight switch in the F-14 ?

" ... even FC3 crapcraft ... " Really ? One would think that respect for the work of others is due...

J-10 vs J-11 in BFM performance
Top Jockey replied to TaxDollarsAtWork's topic in Deka Ironwork Simulations
Very good. The kind of stuf i've always appreciated the most. (I've created similar threads also, regarding MiG-29 vs Su-27 in pure airframe BFM capabilities.) So, it's a pertinent one, and I hope more people would share their insight here. -
Hello everyone, For a reason I don't know, my FPS counter that would usually appear at the top left corner of the screen, isn't appearing anymore when I press the key combo: R CTRL + Pause. Also, when I try to look for it at Options > Adjust controls / keys, i can't find anything related to FPS counter... I'm running most recent open beta DCS version. Would appreciate your help. Thank you.

F-16C and GBU-10 Laser Guided Bomb release methods
Top Jockey replied to Top Jockey's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Finally had a little bit of time to experiment it, and in CCIP mode the bombs indeed do release at pickle button press - no questions asked ! That's what I was looking for, now must try it with my "release profile" using the FLIR TPOD...
