  1. I agree. I was hoping this would be a 'normal' save/load feature like any other game and especially wanted for the longer storybased campaigns. Is something like that also in the works?
  2. I know it has color grading. But what i'm trying to say is that the real world is not all grey/brown either. (that's movie-like color grading) My point is that they should strive for the most realistic coloring. The same as you would experience if you were there. (green grass/fields etc) Camera footage will never be reliable for colors.
  3. To me, the coloring on this map seems off. It all looks to have a very limited palette and desaturated colors (grey). I can sort of see the effect they are (probably) going for, but in my opinion this is not realistic, but more a movie effect. Sure some rocks/deserts are very grey in real life, but the greens and fields can be very green and other rocks are yellow or red. If you compare the trailer to the other video shown below, you can see what i mean. And i realise color grading is used in the video, but this does not negate my original point. (there are more colors in the world). The constrast between colors in areas like the valleys and the dry rocks is what makes the real fghanistan stand out. Honestly most DCS maps have some color bias..
  4. Yes, please make it the same as the apache, so we can trim the stick, but not the pedals. For people who use pedals without the spring.
  5. I agree with the original post on most accounts, but not just for - The use of color in every DCS maps looks too uniform. Everything has the same brown or green hues. Look at some pictures of the real locations to see a lot more variation. It also looks dark in most cases where the tarmac in the sun still looks dark grey (and the taxi light manages to overpower the sun) - Trees, buildings/objects need to blend a lot better in the background and local texture. Currently a forest from far away is not really visible and a forest from close by is a green texture with sharp tree objects on top. - Cities look very uniform, probably due to the reuse of the same buildings with very clean textures. - Terrain mesh needs to be better when close and have good working LOD for performance when far. - There should be clutter at low level for feeling of speed and sense of height. Everything is so clean. In my opinion the new maps are having these same issues, and its visible where map makers struggle with engine limitations (height mapping/texture/object variation) As i see it the only real way forward to make it future-proof would be a large feature upgrade on the terrain tech/graphics engine instead of the evolution that we keep seeing, so i hope something like that is in the pipeline. Maybe even partner up with one of the great game engine makers (Unreal, crytek). As the major player in milsim Eaglee Dynamics should be able to open some doors.
  6. The new flight model seems to make a lot of good changes for the landings. Not entirely sure if it fixes everything, but feels better so far. How are your results?
  7. I've been searching around for an official statement about the pitching near the deck (low AOA in the wires, 3ptsiw etc) and therefore reading this old thread. Has there ever been an official statement whether or not this is a bug or something the actual aircraft does? I can live with both, but would like to know if it's my flying skills or something in the game.
  8. Were there not a lot more templates by default in game? I have an older mission where i placed a SA10/SA11/SA2 sites from a template, but now it seems the list is mostly empty.
  9. I completed the mission with all the lights off in my room and made good use of the radar. Then its allright.
  10. Honestly in the current version of DCS i think in this mission it's almost impossible to do anything usefull at night. Everything outside the cockpit reads as pitch-black except some coastal towns and the moon. The NVG is very grainy. But even the TGP and Mav displays are almost unreadably as they appear as fully green squares as visible in the youtube video above. I hope the night lighting gets some attention.
  11. Wonderful, thank you for really looking into it
  12. Well, I tried the mission again the other day, didn't have the same issues as before, so who knows. DCS did have some updates in the meantime
  13. Im having trouble launching off the carrier in mission 6. I hook up to the cat and then the mission seems to 'reset', meaning all other fighters disappear and i can't continue. Tried 2 times on cat 1 and 2.
  14. I didn't know Raven One had checkpoints, that sounds like it may be helpfull, gonna try it out. Does anyone have a link or a quote where the devs discussed the save game feature and what the issues were?
  15. Holy necropost! Anyway, i too would very much like a save game feature for DCS as i struggle to find the time to complete the longer campaign missions, due to reallife/family stuff. Seeing as how track files and tacview record pretty much everything, it should be doable?
