This is an airshow that I'm planning on going to with my Dad as well as maybe some friends. Thought I'd share the info if any of you guys live near enough to attend. April 29-30 http://www.beaufortairshow.com/index.shtml?prompt=0 They are going to have performances from the F-35B Harrier Blue Angels P-51 Corsair And others, as well as who knows how many static displays. They have an app you can download as well. If I make it, it will be the first time to see the F-35 in person. Hope some of you can make it! PS: If you are new to airshows, they USUALLY do the whole thing twice, once on each day. So it can be a 1 day trip if you are close enough.

We need the pet lions module before any of that. Fundamental for the on base experience.

DCS World Weekend News Update Discussion
The Black Swan replied to terminator363's topic in Chit-Chat
I just hope this additional delay doesn't push 2.5 to the end of the year.... First 2.5 delayed Then 1st quarter before Normandy releases and they get back to it. Then April Then May I mean I get it 2.5 is free and they need money so Normandy. But I have been holding out on Nevada because of waiting for the merge. I really don't want to start being negative but.... I would rather 2.5 be just the new caucuses and merge with no new clouds or explosions if it means getting it earlier. But I really doubt that will be the case. I REALLY hope the hornet isn't dependent on 2.5 in any way. -
Oh yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah 8)

Can someone simply explain RPM and Boost?
The Black Swan replied to imacken's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Let me have a try at explaining it. Think of rowing a boat. The end of the oar is the propeller blade, and the water is the air. The force with which you pull the oar is your manifold pressure or throttle. The rpm control is the speed at which you Row, except it governs how fast you row by changing the angle that the oar enters the water. At a certain power setting, you pull the oar through the water at a certain angle let's say at its widest. As you increase your rpm's setting, you turn the oar so that it more cuts through the water instead of paddling through it. You keep using the same amount of force with your muscles, but you're able to do it faster since you're not moving as much water with each stroke. Obviously, there are limits to how fast you can row as well as limits to how much in either direction you can angle your oar. Thus, adjusting your manifold pressure or rpm setting far enough, will cause a change in the other ones setting If you set your rowing speed (RPM) at a certain rate, and then increase your strength (MP) you will slowly turn your oar to its widest in order to maintain the same rowing rate. But if you keep adding strength, you will eventually have to start rowing at a faster rate. (this is why changing your throttle enough will change your RPM as well) Hope this helps. Let me know how I did guys! :) -
-notice the pattern in the chronological list of releases you put there. An increasing of Fidelity. Smaller details cost separately when those are higher fidelity. (Think new carriers) -while I'm not happy about how long 2.5 seems to keep getting put off, many of the problems you listed are planned to be fixed or at least improved with 2.5.... which Is a free upgrade.

I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait to escort some B-17s through flak filled skies!
-
OOPS sorry I missed that... good to see! Still would be nice to get a He-111 Some nice spitfire targets!

Wags, could we perhaps get a German bomber added to the planned AI? Don't want to sound ungrateful. The list looks very good. I just think some allied pilots will want to do bomber intercepts too.
-
That's ok, thanks for the effort. Maybe it's on bunyap sims channel, as he had some Q&As on there. I guess this means that ranges at high altitude are pretty close to realistic? At the expense of the lower altitudes I mean. I'm sure they can figure it out eventually though. Hope it gets fixed ;)
-
Could you please tell me what video that was? Im trying to understand that problem with range. If finding the right drag performance is as simple as doing some simulated wind tunnel tests then why hasn't ED fixed this? They are masters of that type of stuff.....

Real world slew controls
The Black Swan replied to Braeden108's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No he is not.... Your're a SCOUNDREL! :megalol: -
Personally, while I love the f-16, I'm more excited for the f-18. You can do more in one module. Although it probably has more to do with familiarity. Since f-16s are the usual military jets I see where I live.... But ya I'd prefer an AH-64 or Mig-29 (to be fair to the Russian side of the community) well before an f-16. I mean we are already slated for a tomcat AND hornet.... two LEGENDS.
-
U wot? Maybe you missed it. A thread was recently posted literally asking when the tomcat was expected. And Cobra responded by saying unless team members fall terribly ill, it should come in 2017. The 'ask for timeframe from devs' threads are usually not that successful... Mabye not an update in the strictest sense, but still big news.

Air-Ship Naval Environment Improvements
The Black Swan replied to MBot's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I totally agree, very nice list. Hopefully we will get improvements like this once the hornet and new carrier arrive -
LOL!!! Is this real?!!!? Wow!!

Those trees with the lighting.... :shocking: Please finish 2.5 this year Please finish 2.5 this year....

That would be great. The best thing about the DCS Cat is someone can learn both the pilot and RIO roles. So if you get bored of RIO you could always switch out. :joystick:

Modelled AIM-54 effect on a typical DCS PvP server
The Black Swan replied to Pikey's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Because the USN only used it like 3 times in combat... as opposed to the 15 or more times the AMRAAM has been used... And if you want to talk about middle eastern countries, Iran has claimed success with the AIM-54
