Great idea to help improve communication and avoid further confusion. Yeah, it seems like ED and Wags were set for a February release but forgot to tell HB or vice versa.

Hmmm...it looks like the cat may finally be out of the bag!

Wow, this is great news! It is my biggest complaint so I am glad that they addressed the issue. I have the X-55 which does not have a handrest attachment. I cannot seem to find any images of it online though...do you guys have any images of it?
-
Is there any chance that we see a redesign of the stick to have better ergonomics? My complaint is that it just seems a little too large and that some of the buttons, mainly the trim hat switch (H1) is difficult to reach without lifting my hand off the stick.

Wow, simply incredible! I become more impressed with each new video I see. Amazing work Heatblur and thank you to Jabbers for the demonstration! Anytime, baby...!
-
Whoa, I think that Cat is above max trap weight...
-
Excellent to hear! Thank you so much for everything! The news over the next few days will be highly anticipated for sure. Keep up the incredible work Heatblur and thank you for finally brining us the Tomcat! Best of luck to you with the release.

Thanks Strikeeagle345! It looks like the Warthog offers more than enough options and covers the Tomcat's controls well. Thank you to everyone else as well for the comments. It sounds like the Warthog would be a worthy upgrade from the X-55. I also like that the Warthog has an AB detent which I have missed in the X-55.

What is everyone's opinion on which current HOTAS will be best for the Tomcat? I currently have the X-55 but would like to upgrade someday but I don't know if the Warthog will be the best HOTAS for the Tomcat.

Another great video Magz. Thank you for taking the time to do this. It's great to see the Tomcat in action and learn a few things. Also great to see the high-vis VF-103 and a nice little touch is the Ens Jack Ernie "Bones" under the canopy.

Little update on my end... So I did a little digging today and looked at my BIOS. I have an ASUS motherboard and there is a setting called EZ System Tuning. Mine was set to custom for some reason and I changed it to optimal. I also installed an updated NVIDIA driver from two days ago but this time, I chose custom instead of express and then selected the clean install option. I wish I had done one change at a time but between these two things, I am now seeing appropriate GPU usage and improved FPS performance. I can now maintain a minimum of 60 FPS. I don't know if what I did will help anyone's performance but you might want to give it a try.

I have it happen other places as well, even on the carrier. My only concern is if others are experiencing this as well and if ED acknowledges this as an issue or they just attribute it to something on the users end. Wags seems to not have FPS drop below 60 with max settings and specs similiar to ours...this is my concern. The Hornet AI causing massive FPS drops is a known issue, as are mirrors in the Hornet. What I am trying to figure out is why GPU usage does not go to 100% in these situations. Like your screenshot shows, massive FPS drop but your GPU is not being fully utilized. Is that a problem on our end or is it DCS? Also, why does it seem like Wags does not get these massive FPS drops if as he says, does not see FPS drop below 60.

Resolution is 2560x1440p. My lowered settings are visibility range set to ultra, civ traffic to low, shadows to low, MSAA 2x and mirrors off. My CPU remains at 4.6GHz with usage in the low 70's% during FPS drops. GPU usage 50's-60's%.
-
I have 32GB 3200MHz RAM and the 1080 Ti has 11GB of video RAM, so I don't think RAM is an issue. If my CPU was "gagging" on something or bottlenecking, I thought CPU usage would be 100% while GPU was much lower. I am not seeing that. For me, CPU and GPU are closely matched. If Wags never sees FPS drop below 60 at max settings with a 8700K and 1080 Ti, why am I seeing FPS drop below 60 in certain situations on lower settings with a 7600K @4.6GHz and a 1080 Ti?
-
In the screenshot above by David OC, it seems like going down to 39 FPS means the GPU is struggling to display frames and keep up. Why isn't usage 100% here?
-
I find GPU usage in DCS strange as well. FPS 144 and GPU usage of 100% out over the open desert and then FPS 100 and GPU usage of 70% while sitting on the runway at Nellis. I would think GPU usage should be 100% all the time and FPS be the only thing that fluctuates.
-
Thanks David OC! This is exactly what I am seeing and it's good to know it's not just me. So, it seems my PC is working as it should. I do wonder how Wags can get minimum 60 FPS with similar PC and max settings. My settings are not maxed like his and I get FPS drops below 60 like you show and usually hang around the low 70's in intense situations. Like your screenshot shows, I wonder what the reasoning is for why the CPU and GPU won't go to 100% when FPS is 39. To me, it seems that there is power not being used and FPS being lost.

So I originally made a post here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3796579&postcount=10 I would like to expand on it and seek further help... My issue is that I am seeing what appears to be strange behavior to me in regards to my GPU usage. What I am seeing is that my GPU usage is not always 100% and I think it should be in order to achieve max FPS. However, my GPU usage will only go to 100% in situations that I achieve 144FPS such as over open water or desert or looking at open sky. In more demanding situations where my FPS drops, so does GPU usage. I would think GPU usage would stay at 100%, especially in more demanding situations in order to try and achieve as many FPS possible. CPU usage only goes to 100% with max FPS as well and typically matches the GPU usage in other situations. Windows and NVIDIA CP are set to max performance. EVGA Precision XOC controls my fans and is all set to default unless I use the frame rate limiter to set FPS to 60. Does anyone have a clue what could be going on with my PC? Thank you for your help!
-
Interesting...I wonder why I am not seeing the same. It has to be something on my end but I just don't know what. I have Windows 10 and NVIDIA CP set at max performance. The only strange behavior that I have seen on my end is that my GPU and CPU usage do not go to 100% when I think they need to. With FPS unlocked, I imagine usage would be 100% all the time to get max FPS but I am only seeing max usage when FPS reaches 144. At all other times when FPS is around 100 or even if it drops below 60, my GPU and CPU usage stays the same, around 70% or so. When I lock my FPS at 60, my CPU and GPU usage is in the 50's% but will not increase to 100% if FPS drops below 60.
-
Thank you for the response. For 1440p, it looks like an i9 and 2080 Ti are what is needed to maintain 60 FPS at max settings. I was hoping to get better performance (max settings and 60FPS min) from my 7600k and 1080 Ti combo I purchased last year...I didn't think the new tech would offer that much of a performance boost but it looks like it definitely does.

One man job?! Keep up the incredible work. The manual is really impressive, no need to apologize for errors. As you can see, the community is here to help editing and I am sure is readily available for whatever additional help and support you guys need.

This is a very informative and helpful video by Wags. Thank you https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3795979&postcount=126 However, one thing that was not mentioned by Wags is what kind of FPS he was seeing with those settings and PC specs. With my PC as seen in my sig, I cannot achieve constant 60 FPS + without lowering some settings, mainly AA and shadows and of course I cannot use mirrors without a 20 for so drop in FPS. I am just curious to see FPS Wags is getting.
-
I am sure the answer is an obvious yes but I will ask just to make sure... I know this is an Early Access and "living" manual but I imagine you guys will be adding takeoff, landing, etc.. procedures to the manual prior to release, correct?

Everything I have done to my PC has been ultimately in preparation for the F-14 since they originally announced it. My time with DCS and other aircraft has been very enjoyable and a learning experience but in the end, was just to pass the time until the Tomcat release.
