Update the DLSS preset used by DCS to remove ghosting
KoN replied to sleighzy's topic in General Bugs
Good find I'll test this . -
I see you checked Directx 11 and openxr in the setup of reshade . Also check VRtoolkit . From setup . Home only works on flat screen not in VR. but the effects work in headset . Also make sure in addon you check the sync options as started earlier. First time it never worked for me , I uninstalled and reinstalled then home key worked on flat screen .

Same system but looks completely different on flat screen to VR . Back in the day VR users had an advantage because targets were slightly bigger and could easily be seen compared to flat screen users . Then 2.9 came along that changed the lighting and shading. Looks good on YouTube but in reality contacts started to disappear and lost shape . The dots are contacts . Roll on vulkan . If that fails , God help us . ED must be well aware by now that they have a problem.

Oh man , you don't fly in VR in DCS . The spotting on the monitor and TV is decent now , but this is about VR and the lack of spotting. Before we had huge black dots not realistic at all , now I have a near grey shaded black that you can't see with out straining your eye sight , I can see a claim coming DCS way .... Lol .

So if we use 2.8 dot system the 4k users cant see them . But if we use 2.9 dot system VR users cant see them . lol . I have SIX different flight sims on my PC . DCS is the worst for spotting in VR for me . . on TV 1440p i can see all and the dots are quite good even at 4k resolution. But my headset I cant see anything now but this is only in DCS not any other flight sims I have . Even with air contact against blue sky its very difficult too see .

I've tried all of it . MSAA off and on x 2 x 4 and DLAA and DLSS I've tried all of it, hours spent testing . Some people see all in VR crystal light headsets some say they don't see the Dots either in a crystal light . So some - thing not right . Now I hear contacts will just disappear if over lots of ground targets .??? Before we had a big black blob and yes that was way too big in VR but now that black blob has totally gone with out any hint of a contact . So not sure what to say . Just tested in another combat sim with openXR and I can see very clearly air targets against the backgrounds . And i can even tell what type of airframe and what direction its going .

I use XRNS in another sim and works great for VR uses to check their six o'clock with out breaking your neck . Since updates this year the app XRNS no longer is working and DCS refuses to open and gives a error for DCS . Please allow this critical software that is brilliant for VR uses .

For Syria map turn textures down to medium and land textures down to low and all shadows low . free that Vram up . also that tool is very good . thx

I hate to say it sharpe another combat flight sim has no issues in spotting wether that be flat screen or VR , I've just this minute finished flying online in VR . Guns only . Something is amiss with DCS and VR . The WWII server is empty. That server was always full weekends and half midweek. Now that tells a story .

Spotting dots on some servers and not on others
KoN replied to II.JG1_Vonrd's topic in View and Spotting Bugs
That is correct, yet I have the new spotting ticked in options and yet I see NO dots like I used to be able to , I know there were big black blobs in VR totally over the top , but now it's gone completely the other way . Some strange system this dcs has . -
Will be trying this in VR . I hope it helps the spotting.
-
Get the Hint ED , the spotting in VR is Awful . WWII server is now empty . Well Done . !!!!! Flying in VR is awesome but your spotting is SOOOO BAD . !!!! What ever you have done FIX it . Hundreds of threads and Complaints on your spotting issues . Just flown online and I can not see a DAM thing in VR . Switch to 1440p TV and I see all , the difference is crazy silly . Where have you gone wrong . !!
-
They don't care about VR users . Save your money , I've been a DCS fan Boy for over 20 years . its got worst not better great on flat screen . But VR and its spotting is a big mess .
-
Been away from this So called Sim for nearly two months came back and WOW ....!!!!! , VR is sooo bad now . I cant see anything and the enemy is right in front of me . CRAZY spotting now . SO BAD ..!!!! The WWII server is dead , sept-2024 . Well done ED nice way to kill the player base . VR sucks . What have you done to make this so BAD , the shaders the overlayers , what have you done . !!!

Spotting dots on some servers and not on others
KoN replied to II.JG1_Vonrd's topic in View and Spotting Bugs
I don't see any dots now its like they are all invisible to my headset . Yet go to flat screen 1440p and there they are , its just a crazy and buggy spotting system in DCS. I'm guess the lack of players in the WWII server is dead now , compared to 100 players few months back . Go figure that one out . Flat screen i see the dark dot on the horizon but VR that Dot is nowhere to be seen . EWR is telling me A10 is 9km on my 12 , yet I don't see a thing , now its 6km 2oclock and still see nothing . Flat screen and there he is . I no longer support DCS . -
Might roll back to 552.44 . Give it ago .

The problem is too much of a divide and different headsets equal different 3D worlds . One person see all and the next can't see hardly anything. Some drop their resolution down to 1080 so they can see all , some like high detail resolution but see little . But for me there is big difference from 2D spotting too 3D spotting in my VR . Anyway I've stopped playing in VR it's too frustrating on competitive servers . It's that simple . You can make missions but what Yoyo sees will be different to what I see . Two different headsets.
-
I disagree with this realistic simulation thing , we are all sat at home in comfort looking at TV monitors or VR headsets . It's not real . I totally understand that you want realism but you just can't have it . You have AMD vs Nvidia vs Ryzen vs Intel . TV vs VR . If other simulations can get a stable spotting platform why can't DCS. You have good results in your VR crystal but another's do not with same headset .. DCS is an old old game engine with hundreds of patches thrown over the top . Personally I would build a new DCS with an upto date game engine .

I tested today on cont 80s server been flying in that for a few months now. Since last patch spotting is completely out of the window for me now , yes before we had the big black blob , but now I don't see anything and I mean anything not unless on top of me , no point even setting my headset up anymore . Even real pilots are saying VR is totally fucked up . So today I went back to 2D , 43" TV. And I could see everything, ground targets and air targets at 6 miles , on call outs it's a completely different environment. 2540 x 1440 upscaled to 2160 res DLAA . That says to me that some thing isn't right with DCS and VR. When in VR in the cockpit is amazing but the outside world is a blurry messed up mess with no positive targets . . Jump into another sim and I see them same targets just fine . The WWII server has lost most of its population of late .
-
Have you tested since last patch update , try the F4 again , then jump into the F5 , see if there are differences in the spotting. Try to do this same server and times . Because DCS has this weird shading go on . Also try reshade if no joy . 2D is far superior than VR . VR is broke . You can't see anything anymore. The only headset I've heard is doing ok is pimex crystal.
