  1. It is surely a bug, happens on various machines in various conditions - right after updating how client acts online. If you're concerned about why nobody answered to this from the ED team: Post some logs, they aren't wizards, they need data to work with.
  2. I'd like to see live weather import in DCS one day. It is not hard to gather METAR info around the world, you even have apps for mobile phones for that. So, I am saying that it is not a problem to feed the machine with data. All we need is expanding the weather system so it can read, interpret METAR info and then apply it to the theater. Now, problem with that - DCS doesn't have all kind of clouds implemented, nor some specific weather conditions. So, it would be good IMO to develop that in paralel: - Expand weather variations in the game engine. - While doing that, expand that part of the engine to be able to read METAR data. Topic connection: There is a thread made today about "What is going on with ATC". While importing METAR data isn't so important - having a wider weather variability "adds more point" to having a live ATC in game.
  3. I believe that AI ATC is not a thing to waste time on. It needs to be "intelligent" in such amount that ED needs a daughter company to develop it. Developing tools that enable users to be ATC - proven to be the right solution in the SIM world.
  4. What is your usual AGL in the moment of release? 1. Be as low as possible (pay attention not to kill your self by firing too low where missile hits ground and kills you) 2. Don't shoot at max range, get closer. As closer you are, the angle at which TOR missiles have to intercept your missile is steeper. (they go up, then must go down). The steeper angle, the harder to accurately intercept because of bad aspect to movement vector of the target. Steeper angle gives more chance for them to miss.
  5. Don't you already have that in Windows?
  6. I have a miserable machine for year 2016. Before the EDGE I was saying DCS needs optimization. Now, when I can pull average 35 FPS on lower-medium settings on my: E7600, 8Gb RAM, Sapphire 5700 I can say that DCS is well optimized. What IS a problem: Certain regions of the map. Vaziani area is a pain. But that is unnecessary to discuss since we're informed that Caucasus is getting an overhaul. (and since it only affects us on bare minimum)

    GUI Style Poll

Imagine yourself working for 16 hours and getting paid for 8. I find the option 2 more readable, don't know why. Note: I am overdue to see my eyes mage.
  8. It was stated in multiple instances on these forums that flight model of the Su27 is to be further enhanced. I suppose that includes the damage model as well. Also, if that was AI, AI can do miracles since it holds entire knowledge about the flight model and and it can use it perfectly, also it doesn't have to mingle with joystick to achieve stuff :D
  9. Oh god Sorry, Cpt. Wrote a comment, then saw I wrote basically same thing you already said XD Good suggestion about resetting connection. As for WYSIWYG - that is correct. It is by far easier to figure out how to get extra money for better ISP service package, than to force a company to rewrite net code because :D
  10. Sometimes in life - you just have bad luck. Or wrong ISP. Or not enough money for static IP. I have IP Changes, but luckily - at the time when I don't play. Come on, I live in a country that's almost 3rd world and we have a fairly good ISP choices. Don't tell me that you don't have it in Germany. :)
  11. Easiest solution: Game mode=Simpe ECM, SIM mode=Complex ECM. :)
  12. FC3 wasn't made to be simple, it was made as tools and passage of time allowed it to. I believe FC3 should be looked at like a stepping stone, not a primary feature of the game. Take into account that, after many outrages on release dates and promises made with good will by ED, they have realized that it's better to keep silent and make the thing than to promise you, for example, DCS fidelity level F15C or Su27. FC3 is a relic of the past that is still needed to keep DCS alive and well, until the time comes to have enough high fidelity modules. After that, the market will be clearly divided on simmers and casuals who play FC3. This is the promising future most of us eagerly await. This is why most of us don't have a problem with waiting for this or that thing from ED. Having all that in mind, introducing better level of ECM simulation will enhance the tactical aspect of the game. Imagine that scenario, where you will really think about how to engage the enemy in Su27 or F15C (for example). Planning your engagement so you can burn trough ECM in a moment where you have the upper hand. To create that moment. Also, most of the people here ignore that fact that ECM can't be turned on and left on for 1.5 hours of the flight. It will die. So, there can be no situation mentioned where server is flooded with ECM. Also, your ECM can easily kill you because HOJ. Homing On JAM. So you don't want to use it anytime and anywhere. Especially when you are in Su27 going against F15C with Aim120C wich is very capable thingy for HOJ. With implementation of better ECM fidelity, HOJ becomes very important thing in the sim. I am sure even people who disagree with the idea of more complex ECM can see how implementing it properly can actually widen the dynamic an tactical aspect of the fight in DCS.
  13. No, no, Sir, it was NOT my intention to say that you haven't. My intention was to say that people can and should say if they disagree with claim that ECM should be enhanced in the game - but just say. So that they are heard as well. But point was - let's not make this a discussion on should it be or not be, but gather data. I will add poll to the discussion, so anyone who wants to disagree - can simply vote NO. :smilewink: Can you put it to google drive or something, the website acts up. :D
  14. Oh if only someone gave me 10€ every time someone prematurely asked for release date at tješe forums... GJ LN.
  15. From a link in one of previous posts: "The middle section of the Sorbtsiya houses the receivers, emitters, and techniques generator. For instance, when entering a threat zone, the forward part of the right pod will listen, searching for a ground-to-air threat, while the forward part of the left pod will perform the jamming. Such a division of work can be achieved with the rear part of the pods as well." I believe the thing you ask is just an example of how it can operate and do multiple tasks simultaneously. But hey, we're collecting data, this is awesome :D P.S. There's a public profile of Akinshin at LinkedIn. ED could try talking to him. Not really hard to find people today. :D And like pilots and technicians often do Q&A on Reddit and elsewhere - we should all be perfectly aware that there is CERTAIN amount of info you can get by following public channels and talking to people - professionals. Quite enough to base that educated guess on. And notice nobody said we want better ECM in 2 months. All in it's time, but it is a major dent in this sim not to have it.
  16. No it would not. Do you want a simulator or warthunder? Current type of gameplay is 20+ airplanes rushing head on to each other on at least 80% of the servers. It turns this nice and complex sim into arcade with 0% fault on developers for that. :) You know that is true. --- As for others, thank you (again) for contributing to the thread and defending the idea of closing this nice product even more to reality. Again, small reminder: A lot of stuff in DCS is obviously an intelligent guess. And done well in my humble opinion. So I am not doubting that they CAN do it well and not make a disbalance in the game. Also, pay attention to the fact that making L005 working as it should would make path to modeling a bit more accurate ECM for other planes ;) in the future. Excellent posts, glad to be a part of this community thanks to this kind of people who contribute. Please, if you don't agree with the need to enhance ECM in this sim and make it closer to the real deal, feel free to say so, but after that - let us others discuss this with any possible facts we can dig out. There is a reason it is called "research" and not "axiom". :)
  17. I tried explaining that, hopefully they will understand your comment better.
  18. Thank you for contributing to the thread. Excellent post.
  19. I don't care even if someone does. That will always happen. I do care about good threads constantly being ruined on these forums by people who flood it with answers that are almost always so conservative that they ruin any chance of discussing ON TOPIC and putting in effort to improve DCS experience. Just like the guy above me said: Big part of this sim are educated guesses. Why pulling out the knife immediately? I have a feeling that some people sit on these forums just to be naysayers, thinking it makes them look intelligent.
  20. Why are your comments often so negative and borderline cynical? I had an interesting find and posted it. Now we discuss. In the meantime, someone with further info may appear and post it. You know, get the ball rolling. Your comment makes me feel like you're almost flaming at us. How does your comment contribute to "Sim Research" in this thread? I believe you, Sir, need to stop trolling. Because these kind of comments get people banned on these forums regularly. These kind of comments, without any quality or saying nothing new that isn't already obvious, is called trolling and attempting to suffocate quality constructive discussion. Your attitude is like we don't know this is not a complete info and you feel the need to show us how stupid we are. That is unnecessary. I tend to try to find good in people, so I try to make myself think that you're unaware how you sound, so take this as a friendly advice. And for the rest of people involved: Yes, me and 90% of others, are aware of lack of info. Now we could discuss how could it be applied in the sim and try to find more info. Not like everything in this sim is modeled accurately - so that argument needs to stop being used on these forums. It is destroying any chance of discussing matters in a way that opens the door for creativity and peoples will to help and be a part of the development. Seriously.
  21. There are mechanisms for resuplying airports in mission editor. The shear amount of unnecessary claims/wishes that are based on not knowing how to engage target is...terrible. "We are not good enough to do it" - train harder. Easy servers with static-ish targets far away from fighters are in multitude. Go, have fun. ;)
  22. You, you, you. Not a way to discuss a change that globally affect players - you must agree. Yes, warping is finally gone, and now some of us want a feature that will make new problems... My conetxt was "few seconds make a big problem and you want to increase it to ten". :) Personal opinion - bad idea. I respect your opinion and see your reasons tho'.
  23. Ruin? I would say "make it closer to real".
  24. The idea that I am defending the whole time - what is exactly our disagreement on that? XD Simple solution: Post competitive stats. Nobody who has a pain about being compared isn't forced to post his stats here. Bad stats? Get better. 104th is competition more than tactical engagement. Logical that one would brag about his good stats, and natural. Nothing bad about it. Agree? Isn't that the big part of 104th server point? And here we have a guy that shared his success. Anything but congratulating him or posting stats that can compete (or posting miserable stats of your own in purpose for a laugh) smells like bad intentions. If you go trough my posts at this thread, I believe you will see we're, again, on the same page. Very nice stats Winchester. Glad to help you achieve them by recklessly deepthroating your missiles XD
  25. Dude... 1. Recalculating 10 seconds in BF is not the same amount of work for the server as in DCS. 2. The nature of this sim is such that you disappearing for 10 seconds and reappearing is screwing up the whole concept, while in FPS games it does not really matter, because game lags you around until you reconnect or someone puts a bullet in your skull. No point in wasting time on implementing such things in DCS where people have massive issues for a small latency problems or a bit of warping and lagging. 3. Yes, you could solve that by rewriting the code so that it can identify you as "owner" of the object (your plane) in the game when you reconnect. That is a LOT OF WORK. Even so, the game (DCS) would have to lock your controls at the last user input recieved and you'd end up dead in 70-90% of cases either by smashing the ground/stalling or by being killed by an active player/AI/SAM. There is no justification to waste enormous amount of time to rewrite the code to achieve that. Just my 2 cents. No, it is because you are not connected to internet, even if your router light is blinking/stable. I've had ISP changing my IP randomly, resseting their hardware (which disconnects me from the network) and other various reasons to loose my connection while in DCS and after few refreshes - the server list appears. Either you haven't tried, or there IS a workaround so you don't have to restart DCS to see the list again. I hate when people here assume others are stupid and don't know something without even asking, while they don't seem to stop to think about consequences of implementation of their "DCS Grail" solution. I know it wasn't in bad intention, but still - sounds bad. ;)
