  1. The 117 would offer some pretty frightening precision night strikes.
  2. For what it's worth, my T-50 got delayed in transit last year, and arrived more than 6 weeks later, rusty and damaged. I later had a replacement cam set sent out that was declared lost after more than 2 months. It took three months to receive the cams. All in all, from the time my order initially shipped, to the time I was using the stick, it was about 8 months (and an email chain totalling around 90 emails). I believe I had 4 shipments from EMS, one was on time, one was slightly delayed by a couple of weeks, one was lost, and one was heavily delayed by more than six weeks. Based on that, I couldn't recommend EMS as a service to Australia. I get a lot of items shipped here, because so much of it is sitting in warehouses in the US or China, but I've never had such a bad run. It must be incredibly frustrating for Virpil too. My biggest criticisms with EMS are the lack of checkpoint tracking updates - you get an update when it leaves the country of origin, and when it arrives in the destination country, but nothing in between. Also there is no way to directly contact EMS for support, you need to go through the shipper. Luckily, Virpil have great service, so they get onto it for you quickly, but that seperation isn't confidence inspiring, especially if you have a shipper with poor/slow client communication.
  3. I had two items take 6+ weeks once they had left Minsk.
  4. MiG-29 would make the most sense as a Hornet adversary. The F-16 would be fundamentally so similar to the F-18, it'd be nice to see resources put elsewhere.
  5. That helps to an extent, as my framerate gained considerably - but I'm still seeing huge variations in frame time from 16-40+, which leads to constant stutter. This is unique to the Viggen module, other modules sit at solid 16ms
  6. I am getting crazy amount of stutters and frame drops with the Viggen in 2.5. It's the only aircraft this is happening with, and didn't happen before. My framerate is high, usually around 80-100, but lots of drops and stutters. Hmm, is there a reason that anyone has found?
  7. Simply - The texture work on that wing in the final render... whoah
  8. Yep this issue is something I reported repeatedly here and on the Naturalpoint forum - including opening a ticket a year or two ago, and sourcing another sensor to rule out a hardware fault. I have since purchased a new computer and two new monitors, so it’s not unique to a certain hardware component. I can put it down to one likely cause - a polling issue, trackIR has a 120hz refresh rate, which is why 60 and 120hz are noticeably smoother for trackIR in DCS. This could be, likely, a trackIR issue, rather than an ED issue - or perhaps it is an issue with how trackIR communicates with the DCS engine. Either way, I wouldn’t expect a fix, as the community is not very vocal about the issue - perhaps many are running monitors at 60 hz and not noticing it.
  9. If we have a snap view saved, is there any way to get it to zoom to that? I have to hit the num pad enter key to get the correct view setting every flight.
  10. So what should our settings look like in the NVidia profile? Can someone post a screenshot
  11. Anyone having difficulty getting in contact with VirPil? Communication is patchy at best.
  12. So the retailer has requested I leave my PC with them so they can test it. I asked them to test in the same conditions, but my fear is they will run a couple of benchmarks on a 1080p monitor, which won’t stress the card. I can prove the card is the issue, it’s frustrating that, that alone isn’t enough.
  13. No, my CPU is stock 4ghz with 4.4 boost, and aftermarket cooler. The whole system is otherwise stable and cool. In PassMark, only the 3D tests fail, and they fail constantly, in all tests. Never had a single crash with my factory overclocked 1070.
  14. I just got it to crash repeatedly in PassMark, during the 3D rendering tests, multiple tests locked up.
  15. Thanks for getting back to me guys - yes, I used DDU on the three iterations of drivers that I have tried, including the latest ones, as well as 384.94 and 388.59. I made sure I was in Safe Mode as well. Given the problem is less apparent when I underclock the card, it's got to be the card right? Considering I replaced the PSU today and ruled that out. Is that grounds for RMA?
  16. I bought a new Gigabyte Aorus 1080ti Xtreme Edition on Tuesday. Unfortunately DCS, BoS, Assetto Corsa crash almost immediately - when in intensive situations, like approaching Normandy coast, or flying over Las Vegas. I have tried different drivers, no change. I tried changing the profile in the Gigabyte software from "game mode" to "silent mode", which underclocks the card, and it was more stable, and didn't crash. When it crashes I get lots of squares on the screen, like a broken image. The computer keeps working, and sound sometimes continues, but the game locks up and quits. I checked my temperature in GPU-Z, and it is low (46-60) because the game has only been running a short time. I took it back to the retailer and they stress tested with FurMark and Unigine Valley, both of which actually didn't crash. Today I replaced my PSU with a 750watt Corsair Gold X, and still have the issue, so it's not PSU related. All I know is that I didn't get any issues with my 1070 earlier in the week. I have attached my log files, can anyone help figure out what it might be? My gut feeling is the 1080ti is faulty in some way, but it's hard to prove to the retailer when their testing doesn't crash the machine. dcs.log-20180103-113831.zip
  17. Anyone got any tips for removing machining scratches/grooves? - I have tried 220, 400 grit and I'm not getting anywhere. The more obvious ones in the center are deep enough to catch my fingernail. I could try filing, but I don't want to alter the cam shape if possible. I have been sent replacements but it's been more than four weeks shipping so far.
  18. I think the F-117 shows the divide between the combat flight sim community and civil sim community, in a sense. The trigger seems to be putting resources into an aircraft that evades rather than embraces conflict. Look at the A-10, the drawcard is the weapons platform, right? - Point is, many people seem interested in what something can do upon reaching its waypoint. I would argue the 117 is about the journey to get there. I think there’s also some animosity about it’s historical significance or effectiveness - fair arguments to be had there, but those arguments are not 117 exclusive, and I don’t think it would feel at all out of place in the large and diverse DCS stable.
  19. Sometimes DCS users sound like twitch gamers - if it doesn’t make lots of explosions, or go really fast, or travel in squads, we are not interested For my money, no less interesting than the Cessna with the big gun ;) The Microprose game from the 90’s taught me, in its own Arcady way, that deep strike and evasion by stealth was both terifying and thrilling. Made hitting the target all the sweeter. I would absolutely love this module. For all the people wanting transports, F-111’s and MiG-25’s, let’s add F117 to the list - it was inspiring, ambitious, and used in multiple conflicts.
  20. Here you go. 42.5 inch, 4K, IPS, 60hz computer monitor. I have it, and enjoy it. If you don't want to take my word for it, Wags bought one too :) http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-43UD79-B-4k-uhd-led-monitor
  21. Is anyone who preordered still waiting on their shipment?
  22. Can someone recommend a realistic cam and spring choice for a modern fighter (su-27, f/a-18 etc), and a cam/spring choice for a ww2 fighter? For use with the extension and Virpil grip of course. I'm interested in comparative weights and center friction
  23. Thanks for your responses guys. In terms of the monitor, its an LG 43UD79-B - 42.5 inch. To my eyes it's the only useful size for 4K. It's PPI is still higher than a 24 1080p monitor, but because it's the size it is, you don't need to do any scaling. That way you get the most out of the real estate. I do run some AA, usually 2x is fine. I'm sure it's not quite as sharp as a 27inch 4K screen, but the size feels almost 1 to 1. It fills your vision a bit like the Rift does. I sit about 4 feet away. 60hz and no gsync is a step back, and the lack of motion blur in DCS is a bit jarring when looking around, but on the plus side, it's easier to drive and the frame rate should be more consistent, if not as high.
  24. I recently upgraded to a 4K monitor, the result of which is impressive, but also means I am going to have to work out an upgrade path to ensure I can run DCS steady, above 60fps. The obvious component to upgrade is the GTX-1070. I know so many people repeat the mantra "if you keep waiting for the next card, you will never buy one", but I feel that spending 1080Ti prices at this point in the Pascal lifespan is hard to justify. Would it not be better to wait for a 2080, which should see better performance than a 1080ti for less money? The other question is the CPU/Mobo/RAM combo - Would it be worth getting a newer Intel processor, DDR4 RAM and a new motherboard to accommodate? I feel like not much has happened in the processor market since the 4790K, especially in single core performance. So my processor still appears appropriate for DCS, with its 4.4ghz boost. I realise this is an incredibly first-world-problem - should I upgrade from my Ferrari 430 to a 488GTB...? blah blah blah. But yes, my current rig just barely clings on to 60fps, and often dips below, which really is annoying. ;)
