No worries at all :) thanks Rainer

Any new hints from HQ on when they expect to ship in March, Rainer? I'm so damn excited for this stick :)

Am I crazy? Is the A-10C learning curve too steep for first plane?
hughlb replied to Burgo38's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Apparently ED did an A-10C module?! Who would have known ;) Finally bought this - only took 7 years. Any visual/sound mods I should know about? -
Pretty much the peak of my existence, only to be challenged by standing 3m from a Merlin engine startup just minutes later. I had to be dragged from the museum.

He's asking which connection on the KW-908 (USB or audio port) is best for DCS.

We don't know how significantly this will affect servers, if at all. Most opposed to this release method have also said cost is not a factor. I would imagine the vast majority of the community will buy the prepurchase, or at least, buy both upon release. Are we not getting a little carried away here? Perhaps there's a fear this will spark a new sales model, but again, there's nothing to suggest that. Just buy both things and if your mate wants to join a server, show them the Normandy trailer. I'm sure they'll buy the pack ;) or buy it for them, win win.

True. But that split hasn't happened yet, if it happens at all. The crux of that concern is about cost. Which is why I asked the question about simplifying the buying options. Yep, sorry BIGNEWY, I'm OT, feel free to clean this post

Let me ask people this - if ED had simplified the options by charging $47.99 pre release ($59.99)for the map, including all assets, would you have an issue with that? $59.99 is the same price as other current modules (F-5, AJS-37, L-39) Nevada, a map without additional units is priced at $49.99 I don't think anyone can take issue with the Normandy price, without taking issue with ED's pricing more broadly. But here's the thing... In 2017 I have already spent around $100 for two modules, $350 odd for a Gunfighter Pro, and $200 for a jetseat. My friend who is a 777 pilot came and used my home setup yesterday. I asked him what he thought - he said it's pretty accurate and a hell of a lot cheaper than professional sim time, let alone paying for Avgas and classes. I might have spent $2000 on DCS related purchases so far. My GF has spent more in vet bills for our Labrador this year. She does it because she loves Poppy the dog, and I love simming (and the dog) It's a hobby. Normandy is an option to those who want to fly the sim in an authentic WW2 environment, not a prerequisite to enjoy the sim. ED even let you have the map without the units, either/or. Hard to take issue with that - I dare say most of us will just pay the $47.99 between complaining about it on the forums anyway ;)
-
Wait and see how Normandy performs before buying anything.

So I took off from Tonopah, heavy at 41,000lbs, climbed to 10,000ft, and set the autopilot to hold altitude - speed kept slowly decreasing, and I found I needed to engage the burner to maintain level flight. Am I doing something wrong? Or is that normal?

2.0 update with the Viggen, that's what I'm crossing my fingers for.

35 USD from memory.

Got a pro! Very excited :) Only standard shipping to Aus though? I was happy to pay for faster shipping, but didn't see an option.

Help with GTX1070 terrible FPS
hughlb replied to Kamov Akula's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
You could try Fraps. That will record your screen to a video file. It usually has a cap of 30 seconds for the freeware version. You could also try using your smartphone to record the screen and fps counter in DCS. The reason I say this is because Fraps may affect your framerate, which defies the whole point of capturing the video. -
Hornet guys, is it time for me to begin setting up?
hughlb replied to AegisFX's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
https://forums.eagle.ru/announcement.php?f=66 Probably a little premature yet, but we do have an update coming a few weeks after the release of Normandy. Exciting times! -
A civ prop trainer aircraft actually has a lot of merit, as an idea. I don’t think ED should focus on it, but many of us might be receptive to a third party module. I’ll preface it by saying that DCS should remain strictly a mil sim, however: DCS doesn’t have a basic prop trainer. Prop trainers are a valued part of pilot training for a reason; engine/fuel management, slow speed, docile handling, and a good bridge to either the jet trainers, or prop fighters. It would help players who are new to simming and want a single application - rather than xplane for a Cessna, and DCS for an Albatross. It would add a point of direct comparison with civ simulators, and perhaps win over a few people who are strictly light aircraft simmers and enthusiasts, especially with the beautifully detailed Nevada map as an area of operations. As a direct comparison with civ sims, it would further highlight the quality of DCS avionics and flight dynamics. The 172 has long been the poster child of civ sims, perhaps because it’s relatable to so many current and prospective pilots and enthusiasts. Despite how limited in scope the aircraft is, I’m sure most of us still enjoy flying one around a virtual space, and practicing our approaches and engine management.

Was it 5tuka who did the 109 engine sounds (which are incredible)?
-
*raises a glass to hawkeye* well done mate, really appreciate your efforts.

I was expecting just a few green polygons for England, so this is a pleasant surprise

Good find Simo, I thought something like this might have happened. I guess disabling updates would help now but eventually you will need to download updates again. I wish Microsoft wouldn't mess with display drivers for us.

I had Gsync stop working last night. My screen turned a red tinge in not only DCS but all 3D applications. After thinking my videocard was starting to die, I discovered other people have had this issue before, and re-enabling gsync in Nvidia control panel fixed the issue. Not sure if this helps, but it's unusual for two people to have gsync issues on this forum within a day of each other. Was there a big Windows update or something?

Can one of the mods shed any light on whether trees will be more optimised than in NTTR? There are a lot of dense forests in the Normandy map, especially in that last image. We get quite high fps drop with the forests in Nevada. Perhaps ED have figured out a better way to draw large amounts of trees? Great update nonetheless.

http://www.leatherneck-sim.com/f14/ Man, Warhawk, I wish I had that surprise for the first time again! The link above will tell you some more info about the module.

That's excellent, thanks Andre!

Hi Andre, I also use a center-mounted stick and chair cutout. It might make more sense to get your version of the seat. Any chance of changing my current order to your version? I'm also happy to pay whatever difference in cost.
