  1. Though the poll is clear. European. My vote is Typhoon. I love allot of planes including the Viggen and Rafale, but the Eurofighter is a very complete, interesting and complex plane. It makes sense.
  2. Since energy conservation is going a long way with me, this was my plan to begin with, though i love taking a bird on high Alphas occasionaly. And the Su is just the bert for that bussiness
  3. Very good approach and a text book landing.
  4. OK Thanks man. +1
  5. OK. I am fresh to DCS and the Su27 so i might be missing smt here. Why press the wheel brake (w) during a high speed aerial maneuver?
  6. +1 for starting this.
  7. The first time i flew with the included Su25 and i wanted to find an AFB to try some touch and go's i simply opened comms and asked for directions for the nearest AFB. I realise this is far from perfect and in a full blown IFR needed situation it helps very little but it got me near an AFB within minutes. I know this is not the answer you seek but at times you have to think out of the box. What i plan to do is print map sections of my operations area with the AFB i will be needing. Given i know my current posit by a relative approximate i can navigate with little aid needed. This is ofc only works if you got a good sense of orientation. Also keep in mind that during hostilities there is a good chance that airport localizers wil most probably be off so asking the AFB or AWACS for directions is actually the way to go. Served me for ages. Fly safe.
  8. Flaps are only here to provide extra lift and will not in any way help you in dogfights or aeronautics in any way i can think off. Fly safe!
  9. I used to watch the M2000 approach and land at Tanagra AFB in Greece. They never flared. Though they kept the nose up for some time to keep breaking before touching down the nose wheel. I can still remember the dry engine sound. What a beautiful plane.
  10. Simply put. Any product that uses a patent of any sort is more or less a monopolised item for 20 years. After that time it is considered a technological level and is available for use. a combination of items to perform a function performed by any other given set of devices does not hurt the patent unless there is a patent for the final function as a status. I am following such cases for years and i do not recall smt that fits in the case of our friend. That by any and all means does not mean that it stops anyone from filing against him. I would be surprised though to see it happen in that scale. Once more..... Good Luck.
  11. Nedum...... You are right as far as your argument go but the facts prove you wrong. i totaly agree that with the engine running it should produce the force needed to keep flying to a certain degree. This would make sense with an aerodynamicaly stable plane. But in the modern fighter case this is not the deal and i pressume more factors come into play. While i am very fresh to DCS every simulator i know of that is worth its salt has brought me with many type of planes to some kind of a deep stall. FYI the F16 does the same thing on positive g's. If you wish to get it in a deep stall it is as simple as getting some altitude lower the speed at around 170 knots, drop the nose a bit and then pull hard. VOILA. THe plane will not react on any command no matter the power setting. You have to kick in the FBW override and start rocking the plane into a slow downward slope to gain speed. The second i realised on the Su27 i had a deep stall i did the same thing and it worked like a charm. Mind you thoygh, with vector thrust this would be a totaly different story. Fly safe.
  12. About 110 euros and about half a square meter office space
  13. http://www.aircraftparts.skynet-aviation.com/ac_sale.html I bet there are airforce junkyards in Russia. I would suggest a flashlight and a screwdriver visit but this is the Greek in me. The German in me says Get some Votka bribe some folks and make it happen. Keep us posted
  14. Good idea. Thumbs up
  15.
  16. Oh, well it is not. Deffinetly not. Have you ever heard of a TV series called Breaking bad? That is a line from the series that gets used allot in various ermmmm variations. The original is [ame] [/ame] It is by no means disrespectful, on the contrary. I urge you to watch the series if you have not allready done so. and on a sidenote..... i am a bit rough on the edges at times but definitely not disrespectful. Thanks for allowing me to clear this up. Fly safe.
  17. I use the speedlink Phantom Hawk right now till i am allowed to get on my wish list an X52 or smt. It is pretty cheap money wise and there are reassons for this. All in all a fine simple stick but despite calibrating the sucker everyday it still does not center and i have to apply a bit right rudder and roll. Precision manouvers are nearly immposible. Landings are like trying to balance an egg in a sppon in your mouth while running with boiled eggs under the armpits through hot burning ashes. OK it does not hurt that much but it sure gets you to sweat like you would. Fly safe.
  18. Martin here. I am part German, part Greek living in Bavaria Germany now. Been flying sims forever. I love flying heavy birds under extreme situations. I am in DCS mostly because i expect the full blown complexity of Falcon 4.0 and AF with more plane types and deeper simulation all in all. I prefer flying AI missions because even though i am a peoples person when i fly i want no one blowing my immersion. Fly safe.
  19. hello, i am Martin 45 and even though i got no seizures or so there are some games, DCS NOT included, that cause me nautia. The games are FPS like Quake and Far Cry but not other FPS;s or other games. I am partly working on a high g's enviroment (motorcycle tester) and i got absolutely no real world issues. I am mentioning this because maybe for some reason certain gamer stimulate a certain part of our brains and we got different problems from other players. I would look elswere to be honest. If you wish to give DCS a go though i suggest playing in a well lit room for a start. As an athlete i strongly suggest a diet high on minerals too. Be well man.
  20. Yes true, but honestly now. 30.000 feet are the normal economic flight altitude for long range missions. An F16 cruises up there with Mach .8 or so with ease. With Air to Air weaponery it shoudl be able to get at 40.000 easily too. The Su27 has two monster engines and is notorious for flying long distances. I strongly believe there is smt wrong here. As i said, it was the first day with the bird so i will look into this a bit more. Otherwise it glides like a seagull. And i love seagulls Fly safe.
  21. Well it was groundbreaking due to the fact it was the first time we got a wingman at all AI wise. Fun fact. I held the box and another guy came and offered me double the money for it since it was the version with the book and it was the last one. Back then Piracy rule and us who payed with original games had to box ourselves against competitors often. I think the only reasson developers made ultracomplex games back then with need fora huge manual was to counter piracy to begin with. Fly safe.
  22. i flew the plane just today and i faced the same problem. At around 12.000 feet it was apparent i had a deep stall issue and the only way out of it was to throw on it the Falcon 4.0 bible. I found where the fly by wire manual override is and i rocked the little babe out of it. (textbook approach out of the bible) If the plane had the vector thrust engines this would be allot of fun to deal with. What i find weird though is that it was impossible to get over 10000 meters (30.000 feet). It should be easy to get near 50.000 feet. I allmost made it to 11.000 meters using a ballistic path. Also while i had to sweat every bit of experience with flight sims so i could land the Su25s and A10, landing the Su27 was effortlessly as eating Nutella out of the bucket with a spoon. (liking the interior is a tad harder though) I come to wonder if the flight model of the Su27 is over-oversimplified in any way. offcourse it could just mean that the guys at Sukhoi really did a good job with the Su27 too. Fly safe all.
