Most certainly Nellis

Within about 10-15 seconds after joining MP I get a game crash. Happens every time, sometimes shorter sometimes longer. Logs attached. dcs.log-20180204-004743.zip dcs.log-20180204-005302.zip

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I'm looking at upgrading my hardware within the next few weeks. So just to recap is the 1070 the best gpu option for the i7 4790k? I'm not planning on upgrading my processor (would rather not get a whole new motherboard). I already have 16gb of ram & I'm planning on getting 16 more to get up to 32gb. Now I'm just looking for the gpu that will give me the best performance in 1440p. I've read some forums saying some better gpus like the 1080ti would bottleneck with a 4790k. But I'm honestly not techie enough to fully understand which gpus are too much for my processor.

Does this mean going into the future DCS will retain a 2.5 open beta & 2.5 release? Or is this all going to end up getting merged eventually to just one 2.5? My hope is the latter. It's a hassle having two installs, it's also a hassle waiting for early access modules to be put on the release version weeks after the module's release date.

That was an absolutely awesome teaser. If you don't mind me asking, how did you add in the hand motions?

With the newest trailer teasing CVN-74, plus Razbam's LHA-1 as well as a possible Forrestal class from heatblur I am curious if ED plans to implement the ability to spawn a carrier in different configurations. While in multiplayer we will certainly need deck space for launch & recovery, but carriers, particularly the Nimitz class just doesn't look right with an empty deck, especially when it's suppose to be sailing into a war. This isn't something I'd expect initially but I truly hope ED takes steps to deliver the most realistic possible carrier & carrier operations experience.

The KC-130 is going to be a great option for the hornets, although for more accurate fleet depictions ED should seriously consider updating the S-3 tanker or adding a KA-6 or a tanker configured Super Hornet.
-
Nothing more than speculation but from the way heatblur has described their intended progress, my guess is AV8B-F14A/B-FA18C. The hornet seems to be not nearly as far along as I thought it was this past summer, I'm not expecting it until mid 2018 at the least.

I agree with Vampyre an MH-60S or HH-60H, even an MH-60R would be a cool addition and fit well into the WIP naval arm of the game.

Documentary: Swiss F/A-18 Pilot Carrier Qualification

I honestly had no idea, really cool to hear though. Thanks for the responses guys. -
Documentary: Swiss F/A-18 Pilot Carrier Qualification
Jhuss96 replied to flywaldair (Skynet dev.)'s topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I had no idea Swiss pilots got carrier qualified, is this a normal thing? Not only for the Swiss but other nations that fly hornets & super hornets, like Australia, Canada, etc. -
I can't imagine it would be very comfortable having HUD information put right in your face for extended periods. I could be totally wrong but my assumption is it would become tiresome.

I don't recall reading anything that would indicate we will get that. A sun visor, filter per se, seems like something that would be applied to all planes rather than just the hornet. I believe there is a topic dedicated to sun visors in the wishlist thread.

I absolutely loved the movie. It seemed very hit or miss with how much people enjoyed the stylistic choices by Christopher Nolan. Not showing a single German solider, gunshot sounds amplified tremendously & limited dialogue really helped me focus on the visuals of what was going on. This visuals I found to be absolutely beautiful, on the beach, on the sea & in the air. It was one of the better movies I've seen in the last few years.

Does anyone know if the trust vectors are moved around during flight? Or is it only during takeoff & landing they're adjusted? Also are the nozzle vectors something that we could see mapped to specific buttons (click for proper angle for landing, click another to return to normal flight angle for example)? Or is the movement of an axis necessary to proper flying in the harrier? I hope that made sense:joystick:

I don't believe there has been any official word yet. But my guess is Iranian conflict campaigns will probably come along once the F-14 by heatblur is finished as that would provide a realistic opposition force. For now I hope to see some mock Gulf War & OIF style campaigns, that's how I'm planning to utilize SoH.

Couldn't agree more, the Phantom is as much of an icon as the P-51 or F-14 for it's era. It really is a must have in the sim, barring any legal complications or lack of access to subject material. We'd just have to have a massive forum war over which model of the Phantom we want

Has ED made any announcements about including CAG birds? From what I've seen in the videos released thus far they will be including line hornets but I haven't heard any mention of the latter, many of which have been requested on this thread. For anyone who doesn't know, CAG aircraft are the more colorfully painted ones, typically flown by the CO. Line Hornet CAG Hornet

+1 I would love one as well, but I figure the core gameplay and mechanics of aircraft carrier usage in multiplayer would need to be ironed out first. Considering the barricade would undoubtedly disrupt the flow of aircraft landing as well as aircraft launching. Even once the core mechanics of carriers have been ironed out (possibly in a similar manner as some have described in the thread) barricades would have to be approached carefully to prevent over usage & constant disruptions. If I'm not mistaken, situations that the barricade is necessary are exceedingly rare. So barricades would have to be approached very carefully. If a new ATC system is integrated into DCS 2.5, I would love to see an emergency landing option announcing an emergency is inbound to X field on X runway and apply that to the ATC aboard the Stennis.

This. I wasn't really suggesting that this would fall entirely on ED and I certainly don't want any more delays to DCS 2.5, the hornet, tomcat or harrier. This is merely an observation that could be utilized in the future. For example, I enjoy flying the L-39 and really love the F-5, but in many of the larger multiplayer missions these aircraft are simply torn up by the FC3 aircraft. Now I'm not demanding the game be balanced, it's a simulation and you have to adapt yourself to the situation to use your aircraft effectively. But the number of people who end up defaulting back to FC3 aircraft plus a few polls I've seen on here & r/hoggit gives me the impression that people want modern strike/air superiority fighters. And obviously the development of fully functional aircraft like that takes multiple years. So as I said in the original post, taking on some of the more popular & requested aircraft in a less than full fidelity state with the intention of bringing them up to sim level so we have a bit more to work with in game. Now of course, intentions don't always manifest but I personally think a FC3 F-16 or MiG-23 would be better & closer to what we want than a million threads asking for one that may never come to fruition. And just in case it wasn't clear from the start, I'm not knocking ED or any of the 3rd party devs, I'm extremely grateful for all the hard work they've been putting in, just spitballing an idea (that's why it's in the wishlist thread) Edit: Thanks for all the input thus far folks, it's definitely got me exploring different points of view on the topic.:D:joystick:

I'm a bit of a US history nut so my favorites films go on forever, but here's a few: 13 Days The trailer makes it seem corny, the movie is actually very well made. Bridge of Spies Captain Phillips Generation Kill(Miniseries) Narcos(TV show, but basically a miniseries)

Before anyone pulls out the pitchforks, allow me to explain: I've seen a lot of complaints about the lack of redfor aircraft due to one reason or another impeding development. Plus I've noticed in most multiplayer servers with an array of full fidelity aircraft to pick from, people typically gravitate towards the F-15, MiGs & SUs for their capabilities. I'm not suggesting adding more FC3 style aircraft to appeal to a more arcade play style, rather to offer more aircraft to chose from and possibly lay the ground work for upgrading FC3 style modules to full fidelity at a later time. Now I don't know much about the coding behind aircraft development so please correct me if I'm not making sense, but the way I see it, adding more aircraft FC3 style could liven up the DCS world a bit and keep players entertained while the aircraft are brought to a more complete sim level. Obviously this is just a thought that crossed my mind & may be infeasible, but I figured there must be a solution to the endless popular aircraft requests (F-16, F-4, F-15E, etc.) plus the redfor side which will be notably lacking with the arrival of the hornet, tomcat & harrier.

The unstoppable team. The hornet doesn't stand a chance.
