  1. "I think the radar can switch automatically from PID to PIC (FC3 radars do) on certain conditions but I'm not sure it's implemented right now. Didn't test that actually." Its an assumption but I would presume that if a Super R530D launch is tried from PID(TWS) the radar should attempt to go PIC(STT) automatically before launch. This is how the FA18A was with if an AIM7M launch was attempted on the TWS L&S target.

    R550 Missile Volume

Thanks Rlaxoxo... not running any mods. might try editing the magictone sdf

    R550 Missile Volume

Hear like helmet unticked ... will tick and try again

    R550 Missile Volume

    I mean R550 Magic II
  5. Even with the Miss Vol switch full clockwise the R550 tone is too soft imo.

    DCS: F-5E!

Given its a straight pulse radar then very limited. It would rely on judicious pilot use of manual gain control and use of antenna elevation to maximize the use of side lobes (keeps target out of main beam clutter). lookdown detection ranges will be very low.

    IFF question

NCTR doesn't talk to the on board IFF interrogator. An NCTR ID just "adds" to the ID matrix
  8. I figured that GG but its French :)
  9. From Zeus: " Scan limit up to 80 nmiles. The 160 and 320 nmiles range are for use with Ground Controlled Intercept (GCI). The radar won't display anything at those ranges except for the contact info provided by the GCI. Lock range limit to 55 nmiles, as per the available info, and only when the radar is in HPRF. STT is only available in HPRF. TWS lock limit to 20 nmiles in ENT (Interleaved HPRF + LPRF). No STT. RWS only in LPRF. Some info indicates that in LPRF we get ground returns as well since it basically disables the doppler filtering. Also, the same info indicates that the contacts icons change from the V to a square. So is HPRF automatically commanded when you attempt lock on or does the pilot have to ensure/select HPRF before attempting a lock ?

    FBW mode

No Flare law in the Mir2K
  11. Nice set of tests there IASGATG bravo
  12. When is it going to be able to be slewed by HMS ? :)
  13. Is R550 Autoscan and Boresight going to be featured ? :)
  14. I think if in reduced Azimuth and in TWS with a designated target the Azimuth volume should be centered on the designated TWS target ....thats how the F18 TWS worked back in the 80's
  15. That was actually a refreshing read

    DCS: F-5E!

Mirage IIIO V F5E :) The F5E was a very competent little fighter
  17. DCS Ver 1.53.50487 Seeing a "DCS has stopped working on exit" every time I fly Mir2000. runs ok in game but I see this every time I exit. Win10 Logs attached crash21Feb.zip
  18. Just updated both the Open Beta and the Stable release version to 1.5.3.50487. As soon as I started the Beta I again was asked to reactivate the MIG21 ... another activation lost (thats 2 in the last 2 days). So a recredit of 1 activation as leatherneck says is going to be added to all keys is not sufficient. Need a minimum of 2 recredits. On updating the stable 1.5.3 the files were copied over from the Beta install. Did not have to reactivate the MIG21.
  19. yep the alpha is asking for another reactivation as well.
  20. Guess we will need a Martin Baker seat 3D model for the Brazillian skins :)
  21. Installed Open Beta 1.5.3. MIg21 needed reactivation reporting major changes to my PC as the reason.... none of course have ocurred. So activations ... down to 7.

    DCS: F-5E!

    What Radar is coming with DCS F5E the AN/APQ 153 or AN/APQ 159 ?

    DCS: F-5E!

Radar provides Range data to the sight to allow for the calculation of lead requirements for Air to air Guns in two modes Snapshot and Tracking. the only real difference being the sight settling times and the consequent differences in pilot sight handling. Range is is displayed by the range bar that moves inside the outer reticle. The F5E gunsight was pretty neat when compared to those of equivalent types. In missile modes Range was displayed in a similar way. In Missile mode the pipper represents the missile seaker boresight (corrected for wing twist). So pipper on to get tone.In addition Excess G cue was displayed to indicate you are pulling too much G for missile launch. Really only applicable to AIM9B and perhaps E. Missile seekers could not be slewed by the radar. Manual lock on is similar to the MIG21 in that you have to drive the radar return to both Zero azimuth and elevation then initiate lock on. APQ 153 APQ159 had off boresight Lock capability. 2 Auto lock ACM Boresight modes were available one for guns and one for missiles. Only real diff is max range they operate to
