You dont- You deal with them two other times max (you already shot them down once.) Wipe out the fuel bunkers and you dont deal with them (or their friends) again. This was prior to the fuel bunkers and fuel system in place today. Take out the bunker and you eliminate this frustration. Also, nobody can kill the same air to air threat seven times.. Only three times. Maybe more if they also have an F5/m21 airframes left. The fundamental problem I have with this logic is that it punishes ALL air to air fighters for the misbehaving of a few. Let the LIVES system take care of this misbehavior. Maybe three lives every six hours isnt the right answer. Maybe its two lives every 1.5 hours? Im not sure- but waiting seven mins to refuel for all players is agonizing to those that play regularly. The fuel system (which prevents spawning when you takeout the bunkers) should alleviate this issue. I think what has really happened is that people havent learned how to take advantage of this new combat tactic. I agree that it is tough to crack... which is why we are having this great discussion. Again- see how the new gameplay works out with the fuel system and bunkers. This requires coordination between CAP, CAS and SEAD now. In previous missions it was, secure CAP, send in SEAD, send in CAS, send in helo. Now the game is DIFFERENT, and Im proposing we make it more like real life where the Alert Three and Four aircraft are hot started on the deck in the catapult waiting to launch. (Thats a Top Gun reference if you missed it.) If you want to keep the fighters from coming, there are three things you can do: a) fight them until they run out of lives. b) run them out of fuel (red has done this several times to blue.) c) take out the fuel bunkers to prevent them from respawning at that base. This new tactic would require CAP and a really thoughtful / suicidal CAS mission to target the bunkers (maybe a job for a M2K with laser guided bombs?) Then probably SEAD and then back to CAS. I love fighters... I play them pretty much exclusively on 104, Open Conflict, etc. I do not play fighters on Blue Flag because the sorties are already very long and adding seven mins to that is agonizing. Im also not very good, and the only way to get better is to practice.. Practicing on this server takes ages. So back to answer your question: Why do I care? I want more people to play on Blue Flag. There is obviously a balance, but if you see how busy the 104th is, you see that some people do enjoy an air to air engagement that doesnt take 30 mins to unfold. Blue Flag is running those players off in droves. This is proven by the 100 or more players Blue has against Red. Why dont these people play more frequently? I think the answer lies in they dont find the server intuitive and its easier elsewhere. The mission is solid (for the most part.) The idea is EPIC. What this server needs is something that caters more to the new player and a gameplay system that walks people through how the mission works/unfolds. This is what BlueFlag is lacking. The learning curve to a new player to this server is pretty overwhelming. TJ -

The new fuel system addresses this- Destroy the fuel bunkers and this is no longer an issue (or let the airquakers quake and run their base out of fuel.) TJ -

I think we've proven time and time again that this doesnt work. This is what the LIVES system is for. You limit airquake by forcing people to value their in game LIFE, not waste their real world life. The existing lives system does this quite well. After three airquakes you can no longer quake. I've recommended numerous improvements to help enforce this strategy; none of which include wasting your real life... I'd like to see how you would recommend to improve it. TJ -

Omg! Hahahhaa. You guys are too funny. It was a joke. Hollywood takes offense to red using the lower landing gear and raising landing gear trick on the su27 to refuel slightly quicker. I asked a blue player why he was calling himself uzi 1-1. He said when he requested startup, taxi and takeoff that the in game ATC was calling him Uzi 1-1. I'd bet it's the call sign of the slot assigned in the mission editor. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Do you ever anticipate adding wind to the map? Not clouds, wind. If the answer to this is yes, I'd leave the f10 map alone. I'm not even sure if DCS models how wind pushes an airframe but if it does, drawing a straight line and inputting the compass direction and flying it won't work as you will track differently across the ground. I don't see many DCS flightsimmers picking up an e6b and getting a weather briefing prior to their sortie so they can plan accordingly... I am up for trying it, so if you want to give it a shot for a few days let's do it. But if you want to add any weather at all, we are going to need beacons at farps and sams. Fc3 guys will always be hosed, but they are least impacted by it. They can gain altitude quickly to find landmarks. That's a little harder in the Huey and Hip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9 Guys. I fly in the real world... planes built in the 60s. Even they have GPS. The all knowing magical f10 map is pretty standard today. Hell, with foreflight on both my iPad and my iPhone, I don't even need the Garmin 430 that's installed to fly by VFR. I think you'd alienate a lot of people by removing the f10 map, but there is only one way to find out and I'd be up for trying it to see what happens. TJ Edit: this did make me chuckle though. This was taken at the Jesse James Airshow today in Excelsior Springs Mo USA. All those fancy gadgets in the cockpit and the pilot still preferred the paper charts. He was a lot of fun to talk to but after I started asking questions about mark points and maverick engagement he told me politely that the conversation had gone off limits. The answer to this is to develop a system that helps the casual player understand the mission and guide them down that path. Not force all players to wait seven mins to fuel for every sortie. I'm almost wondering if a per player per airframe per base fuel allotment (while very unrealistic) would help augment the lives and fuel setup. It would force a player who dies so quickly out of the CAP role and into a helo, a CAS or a cargo mission. General idea would be TJ has 3 CAP lives and at Vody has 1.5 planes worth of fuel. Once he takes off a timer counts down until his now .5 planes worth of fuel would refill up to 1.5. If he crashes shortly after takeoff, he can either get back in the air with .5 fuel at Vody or he can move to KP where he has 1.5. If he exhausts all of his fuel at Vody he can fly another mission or move to another base. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

All of this. I'll continue to whine (over teamspeak) about how I hate to loose against the 530d. It sucks that it's so fast. But I'm not asking for change. It's what gives the mirage a unique edge over other platforms. That (in my mind) makes folks want to play it and keeps it from being stale. All I want is for the fighters to have the same fuel. I'd prefer 100% for all because I can't stand sitting on the ground for so long. But I understand the air quake comments and would continue to play with all fighters at 0%. I still don't understand why the mirage has 100% fuel and others have 0%. (Frostie can you explain? You've been here probably the longest.) TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I'll be honest. I switched from red to blue this time. Red have more of the same players on all the time. Red is much more of a team. Red is willing to talk people through issues without sounding like know it alls. And the players that consistently play on red are pretty damn good. Blue on the other hand. Besides the TWB guys (who have now flipped to red) and Crash/Raptors group, there isn't a whole lot of consistency. And there are a lot of newbs. And honestly since blue uses only SR, you loose some of the fun about talking non combat stuff during server reboots, deaths etc. If Blue wants to win, I wouldn't blame tactics or machinery. DL isn't worthless if you can get folks in helos to put the radars down. I'm also not sure where you read that I said EO is worthless. EO just doesn't have much of a place in an air superiority fight when you are trying to defend your CAS against enemy CAP. The superior (faster) 530 and lack of situational awareness with the su27 rwr is what I complain about. DL is a measure to help resolve that. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Would be interesting to see mirage only on blue. With zero fuel. The DL and EO give the su27 an advantage that I think could be offset with the faster 530. A low man team needs defense... air superiority is the best way to stop the attack. Maybe a 2:1 ratio allows the low team advanced capabilities? TJ Edit: what about faster respawn times? 2:1 ratio respawns four times faster than 1:1? This might take a 40 min respawn down to 10 min forcing the attacking team to have their coordination down.
