Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
Tj1376 replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
This is awesome! Anyway to prevent the lobby from allowing red to listen to blue and vice versa? I personally think TS is the answer to this, so I'd probably stay away from custom coding something just for Blue Flag. I don't know if another server that requires you to pick sides like Blue Flag, but I'll be honest and say I primarily only fly Blue Flag and 104th. Ps: I love building objects on maps. I suck at scripting (still learning- I'm still new at DCS), but if you ever need someone to help place objects and do some of that grunt work, just let me know. I know. But I picked up the ka50 on sale and have been loving learning it. That means red though... :( I do enjoy watching the blue twitch feeds though to see if I am going to die. That was a lot of fun yesterday. :) In my experience the squadron specific channels don't speak English. Or at least when I tried to join they didn't. Maybe that was one time, maybe that's how it's always been, I don't know as I've only been red for three days. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

Even the blue Reapers would disagree with you. SRS becomes a pain in the rear when you are trying to coordinate and the server is down. Or when the server just came back up and everyone is trying to figure out what to do. Unless you join a slot and power up, you can't talk to others (there is no lobby feature.) Enter Teamspeak and this problem is solved. I prefer SRS, but I also sit in teamspeak because sometimes I want to coordinate next steps without having to be in a slot. I love SRS and the immersion it adds, but it complicates the coordination before the attack. For the blue players who won't switch sides because red doesn't use SRS: I joined red this time and the red teamspeak is kept to brevity. It can sometimes be hard because the Russians don't speak English, so we occasionally need a translator to play the middle man. It does work. You just have to be willing to give it a try. Terrible VR stuttering in 1.5 with 1080 Ti and Oculus Rift
Tj1376 replied to Boris's topic in Virtual Reality
Sounds like a CPU bottle neck. CPU can't feed the GPU properly so it's being under utilized. Are you sure your 4770k is running at 4.2 and your memory is healthy? That should be more than enough performance... 59 raven is on the same architecture so you should see similar results.... TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Yes. Long flights with this helo are painfully boring. Think of that first Huey mission where you fly from Tiblisi to Kutasi. If you did that in the gazelle you'd loose your mind from boredom. But for short little jaunts where you pop up, spot some bad guys and relay or shoot them, this bird is a blast. And it's very easy to learn. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think he meant for a free flight that would allow you to try a module that you haven't purchased. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I just picked up the Gazelle at Easter, but I like it a lot. I have maybe three total hours in it and it's pretty simple like the Huey. Plus having the ability to pop up over a hill, shoot something and pop back down is pretty freaking cool. I don't buy a lot of this flight model discussion that you read in the forum. There are some things that do feel strange to me (I'm a real world pilot) but it's nothing that would prevent me from recommending the model. What you do need to understand is that this model has stability controls (similarly to the ka50) so it will feel much different than the Huey. I've not tried the missions so I can't comment there, but this little helo is fun to learn and throw around. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agree! Would also like to see the TOR at every airbase, not just anapa. It requires coordination to take out, which means you can't do it by yourself.... I really enjoy that aspect of the server and would like to see air defenses beefed up to help improve that coordination. What would you think if "border" bases (Beslan for red, Sochi for blue, etc) had tougher AA defenses for their side, but weak defenses when taken over? So Beslan would have an sa11 or multiple TORs if it was red, but would just have sa9/13 if blue? Something that might make it more worth it for red to take Beslan back, but also to increase its difficulty for Blue to hit. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Any chance Blue could get KA50 since red now has a10c? I miss flying my ka50 since red players are mostly non-talkative. It would also be cool if you could change sides. Some days I feel like flying a su27 and hate having to go to the 104th to fly. Why do we not just give both sides all planes since we've polluted the waters so much already? (Blue has su25t, Hip... red has a10c, Huey, etc) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Do you have the same success with the mix in MP? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
That doesn't indicate the PFM uses fluid dynamics. It does indicate that the PFM used a model in a wind tunnel to develop whatever they use to compute their flight model. But from everything I've read, it's computed away from real time and then just referenced in the sim. This would be more analogous to a table based sim. Does anyone with actual DCS flight model developing have any input? TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Can you point me to this source? I've built several XP aircraft and would love to see how difficult it might be to port some of my work to DCS. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but what about this video is not believable? I am new to DCS helos and only just purchased this helo so I am still learning. But having an aviation background, have you ever seen the Blue Eagles? They do a tail slide in the gazelle. In a Lynx they also do a loop that spends a few seconds inverted before flipping back around. That helo almost immediately arrests its downward sink once its nose is level and right side up. Is it possible that in a table based flight sim (and I think this is DCS? I think the only fluid based flight sim is XP right now?) that the flight envelope that is programmed to perform accurately as the helo would in real life is based upon the normal envelope that a pilot would take the helo through in real life? There isn't a whole lot of data easily accessible to folks outside of this envelope, so building a table for non normal envelope might be very difficult. Basically my point... if you want the most accurate flight experience in a simulator, you need to be flying a simulator that simulates fluid (how the fluid moves over a surface to create lift, etc.) You can argue how table based sims like fsx and p3d have super realistic flight models (and I love a2a... I own all of their GA models, and the 182 flies damn near exactly like the 182 that I have many hours in) but those flight models are inaccurate the moment they are taken outside of the normal envelope. I think it's a pretty safe assumption that the gazelle isn't very accurate once outside of the normal envelope that the developers programmed for it. What do you think? What would you recommend to be different? TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Flying straight and level at a shilka is never a good idea. Try to jynk (even so slightly) up and down or left and right. Remember the shilka has to think "where will you be when my bullets travel from the gun to the target." Once they fire, they are on a path that cannot be altered. All you have to do is change direction slightly and they will miss. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think what the comment was is that the preplanned path to the target wasn't exactly the best. He might have changed his plan prior to launch and had better success. You can also do this on the fly with the Viggen, you don't have to come into m1 following your exact waypoints. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Times two. Would love if inputting waypoints would update the kneeboard! Great idea! TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Love the feedback! I want something that is authentic, even if that means it's a challenge to fly! I still haven't figured this helo out yet, but that is part of the fun and experience of the sim! Thanks for all you do and keep it as authentic as possible! Thx! TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In another thread someone was complaining about the 104th Red Flag event and how hard it was to get the very slow a10c into the fight. All I could think of was how much better the Viggen would be in the Red Flag events. You don't need CAS- you aren't protecting your advancing forces. You need speed and a quick strike... I couldn't think of a more well suited plane for this mission. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The problem here is the UI allows it, so people think it's valid. It would be way more intuitive if the payload load out screen would prevent or inform you of the limitation. It would also cut down on a bunch of bad bug submissions. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Turning Radar contact into a waypoint This requires you to overfly the target without being able to drop bombs. Right? The idea here would be to have one plane spot the target and send the trailing plane the lola data over the radio so they can put bombs on target? TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Ok, so I'm trying to understand this: Input coordinates of where you think convoy will be. Make that a target waypoint. Fly to waypoint. Turn on ground radar. See that convoy has moved away from waypoint in the radar (the vehicles reflect, but dang that's hard to see!) T1 to unlock radar crosshair. Slew to reflection in radar. T2 to update. That is what you are thinking? TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes- This is all you have to do. I just put in the comments section M1 and now the mission loads with that specified waypoint as M1. TJ
