Yep. It worked perfectly in the previous version. When I added guns to the f18 and mavEs, I couldn’t get jtac to give me anything other than type 1. (I typically load mavE x2 and gbu12 x4.) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think it’s a problem with the predator lazing or the target/weapon selection of this mission. In Wags video he clearly has 570 rounds of gun ammo loaded and had no issues getting type2. I’ll play around tonight with some of the other jtac missions I have and see what happens. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No probs on the f18 side. I can post track or video or both later tonight. Out and about for Christmas shopping now. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The mission you sent me declared type 2 no issues. You had removed all the gun ammo from the f18. Once you add gun ammo back, for some reason jtac is requesting gun run. Not sure why that is on these targets. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How do I use LGBs? WIP mate. Give em time! TJ Edit: another two weeks should do it! lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I just successfully had 4 gbu12s hit laser designated targets from an F18 no issue - jtac (predator) was lazing. You need altitude and what I find seems to work best is to treat it like a CCIP delivery right now (I havent played with Auto and if my memory serves me correctly CCRP isnt truly modeled yet as we dont have a a device that can read the laser return and correctly calculate a CCRP delivery on the actual aircraft... Thus, use CCIP to get the bomb close and let the laser do the rest of the work. For wags default mission, get to 15k feet, get in a dive with the cross hairs close to the target area (i just aim for the middle of the runway) and pickle (you HAVE to make sure you follow all the commands correctly, Laser on, On, Lazing, Spot, In, Cleared Hot then line up target and pickle.) If you do any of these steps incorrectly, JTAC will immediately STOP lazing which causes your bomb (or mavE) to miss. Hope this helps TJ

I can reproduce this with the A10c - its not an F18 problem, its a problem with CA or the JTAC function in the ME. For fun I just added the A10C to your mission and sure enough, if I have gun ammo in the GAU8, it asks for guns even though weapon designation is set for Guided munitions. For further kicks - changed designation from AUTO to Laser (to hopefully force laser) and in the A10C I still get type 1 in effect (visual spotting.) I'd recommend moving this thread to the 2.5 ME bug report section and creating a new bug report there. This has nothing to do with the F18. TJ EDIT: I'll play with some of my JTAC missions later tonight and see if its a problem just with the predator or if other type 2 capable units will also ask for guns.

Yep, will do. I wanted your MIZ to see how it differed from my setup. Currently waiting for 31gigs to unpack and install the update and then will be taking a peek at this. TJ

Post your MIZ? TJ

Two threads were merged and you lost the context of the thread our convo got merged into. In the OP second thread post, he clearly stated (and added a miz file) of a mission of thin skinned vehicles. When he changed the vehicles to tanks JTAC asked for bombs. The point still stands- this appears to be working as designed as it makes more sense operationally to use guns on a thin skinned vehicle than to ask for gbus. Run out of gun ammo and the jtac asks for bombs. Change the target to something with armor and the jtac asks for bombs. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

JTAC and Guns Doesn’t it make more sense to use guns on thin skinned vehicles rather than big expensive LGBs? I think the JTAC logic here is sound, but what you’re expecting from the JTAC is inaccurate. Now, you might have also found a bug if you set JTAC to guided munitions in the ME and he calls for guns. TJ Edit: it would be interesting to take your mission and load up an a10c with lgbs and guns and see what the FAC does when the ME instructs for guided munitions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hey Fisty! I think you figured this out because I’m pretty sure it was you I talked through on Blueflag yesterday on how to get to gadget.buddyspike.net to see the coordinates of the objective we were targeting. If not, apologies. Easy peasy- below the map there is an OSB button for MK0. Just press it and it will create a markpoint. Now you can navigate no issues. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Can Zuni ‘s take out say the bunkers on BF? Or maybe the fuel depots? Ps: where are you playing now Tholo? Haven’t seen you on lately! TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What are you guys using to control TDC depress in the meantime? ive tried that pinky button on the TMHW, but that seems clunky as hell. Whose got a good button press that seems to work effectively for them? TJ

Appreciate your help - i pretty much fly exclusively on BuddySpike, which I've confirmed has never added a waypoint for the Harrier. EDIT- Adding the markpoint does indeed resolve the issue. TJ
-
As a new customer to the Harrier, I couldnt agree more. Its really frustrating to find out that the procedure changed with no notification. I get it, this is the way it was supposed to work before hand, but dang not a single doc was updated - ive read the manual, several times, the relevant pages I found were on 89-93... Nothing about fuzing... TJ

Im pretty sure this is not working in the new Open Beta that came out last week - I was successful in adding waypoints in the past without a markpoint. Now I simply cannot. The waypoint successfully adds, and if I edit the waypoint I can see the north and easting no issues. When I fly close to the waypoint, I can see the waypoint marker on the map... But in nav mode I get no indication of mileage to waypoint or heading to intercept. Again, the scenario here is starting cold and dark from the ground in multiplayer with a server that has no waypoints created. I've even tried started from the ground hot. No bueno. Can anyone confirm? Im pretty new to the harrier, but last week I was adding and editing waypoints like a champ following Chucks guide. TJ

It was significantly helpful for me! Thanks for helping out! TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ahhh! So it’s not that the stores page has to be up, it’s that tpod can’t be on the left mpcd? Tpod (and dmt) have to be on right mpcd to fire Mavericks. Dang- you’d think that would have been covered in chucks guide or anyone of the YouTube videos I’ve watched to try and figure out what I was doing wrong. Many thank yous! I missed the edit. Thanks for that, I’ll give it a whirl. I typically have tpod on lmfd, so I’m positive I’ve never had stores page on any mfd while in the AO. This is a bug, right? Surely the procedure would not be to have a stores page up and active. Does Razbam know about it? I’ve read about a “bug report” list, but the sticky in this forum hasn’t been updated in a year, and was apparently before the tpod was released. Thank you! TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Appreciate it. That is definitely not working from a cold start. I’ve been reading quite a few bug reports here that indicate different behavior from a hot start vs a cold start, I wonder if it’s related. Or- if there is a step after “slew target in tpod” that you are doing but not stating. When I uncage after slewing, the maverick screen doesn’t display. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Can you guys describe your procedures to use the use the maverick with the TPOD. I slew the tpod to the target, then press tdc down, then go to uncage the seeker but uncage does not work. I have confirmed that if I don’t equip the tpod, this procedure works, so what am I doing wrong to uncage the seeker when tpod is equipped? Appreciate the guidance. TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Surely this isnt as designed, right? It would make sense to use the TPOD to fine tune and use the zoom to get right in to the target area from along ways away... right? Or am I just too spoiled with the A10C? (I also have this issue, bought the Harrier on sale and am trying to learn it. Ive never been able to uncage the mavericks, but I always equip the TPOD.) TJ

Apologies this isnt in the "Missions and Campaigns" section of the bug forum - I scrolled down to the M's and saw the "ME issues," "Multi Monitor Displays" and "Multiplayer" and assumed the listing was all in alpha order. It wasnt until after I made this post that I scrolled down and saw the spot for "missions and campaigns" at the very bottom of the otherwise alpha sorted list. TJ

The mission "In The Weeds" for the A10C does not have the JTAC setup correctly and thus the JTAC will not respond when you call for him. Edited to add that I am reproducing this on 2.5.3 open beta. To reproduce: Launch "In the weeds" mission, navigate to IP, call JTAC on FM (L shift + num-) announce playtime. Expected Result: JTAC should respond to your calls Actual Result: JTAC does not respond To resolve: Navigate to mission editor, load the In The Weeds mission Select JTAC vehicle group Select #3 WP Action (Set Frequency) Add a "Power" (I used 10) Select each FAC Assign Group one at a time Change callsign to Hammer (to match WP Action #2) Change frequency to 30 Change modulation to FM Save mission.
