I don't know if I'm willing to spend time creating, collecting, and posting tracks..... maybe.... but what scenario are we talking here? P51 at 67", automatic radiators, run mixture (my experience with this is random engine detonation which could happen immediately or 5 minutes later) P51 at 67", automatic radiators, rich mixture P51 at 67", closed radiators, run mixture P51 at 67", closed radiators, rich mixture P51 at 67", open radiators, run mixture P51 at 67", open radiators, rich mixture P51 at 61", automatic radiators (I tend to run this in dogfights, but sometimes the engine will just randomly detonate too) P51 at 61", closed radiators, run mixture P51 at 61", closed radiators, rich mixture P51 at 61", open radiators, run mixture P51 at 61", open radiators, rich mixture Seems no matter what the P51 pilot must take a risk when accessing full speed. I've never had a 109 engine detonate if I had any MW50 left. I would have thought the same considering the laminar flow wing, but it doesn't appear to hold up in the game. I do know as long as the P51 is in a shallow (as in very shallow, its speed just needs to be where Solty claims it should be in level flight) dive it can basically prevent the 109 from gaining, but the 109 doesn't lose either. If level flight becomes a reality though, the 109 will catch up.

Maybe there isn't a difference because I spent a butt load of timing figuring out what I can, and can't do in the P51, and the pilots I'm flying against make poor choices. If you look at my March statistics, and go off the numbers you'd probably think the P51 outclasses all the other aircraft. Numbers are only going to tell you half the battle. They say nothing about whether I'm working in a team, did I decide to go 1 on 1 or 5 on 1, etc... As for this speed difference I honestly don't know how to tell you to fly your plane, but I can run down P51's in my 109, and I get run down by 109 in my P51. Lets keep in mind I don't spend a huge amount of time in the 109. Most of my time is in the P51 because I like it better, so my 109 skills especially deflection shooting need major work. Also keep in mind those kills in the 109 are against Spitfires mostly because everyone likes to fly the plane which is going to give them the win. If it were mainly against P51's I'd have even more kills in the 109 because there is literally nothing they can do if I get them to lose their speed.

What I read from the OP is that they're seeing a bias in quality provided for NATO craft vs their Russian counterparts, and they offer two solutions. Either reduce the quality of the NATO craft for parity or increase the quality of Russian craft for parity. I see a lot of bias in your post however. Since you clearly stand on the NATO fence you immediately deem this an attack against NATO craft when in reality it is simply about equalizing (DARE I SAY IT?) something that has to do with BALANCE, but not in regards to aircraft capability. If you couldn't read your RWR I bet you'd be complaining too.

Yeah, you didn't notice my name sitting right there in #8 (as of this writing)? I can't remember where I was last month, something like #3, and I'd probably be around that if I actually flew more this month, but life has taken over a bit. The P-51D at sea level is outclassed in all categories against the 109. I'm saying this, and I shoot them down quite often... but I also fly the 109, so I know what I'm up against. Here's the low down: The 109 is faster at seal level. The 109 accelerates faster. The 109 climbs (significantly) faster. The 109 turns better at lower speeds. The 109 turns better at higher speeds (only because the 51 pilot will blackout because they removed the G suit). The 109 can float in the air like a helicopter because it's engine won't burn up (something that probably needs to be fixed because I doubt this is true to life). Number 6 will prevent a P51D from getting enough AOA to take a shot at a 109 unless the P51D has enough speed left over after climbing up for the shot. If the 51D decides to take a gamble, and ends up not having the AOA the 51D's nose will be forced over because speed is required rather quickly or the engine will blow. The 109 can simply drop in at this point, and pick you off. The P51D really only has one flight characteristic that is superior to the 109, and that's high speed handing, but it can't use it due to G forces (no G suit). Against the FW-190: The 190 is faster. The 190 will accelerate faster. The 190 will climb (significantly) faster. The 51D will out turn a 190 unless the 190 decides to use a high Yo-yo after gaining a small margin of speed advantage (which it can since it is faster at sea level) whereas the P51D will barely maintain its speed in a turn. If you know how to use the 190, then you can even out turn a P51D. I'm the one who honestly feels like everyone debating in these threads doesn't really fly these machines competitively.

Well, it is your server, and you got to do what you got to do. Maybe someone will let me know if that ever changes.

Please note, I fly competitively in multiplayer environments, and enjoy dissimilar combat, but it isn't enjoyable to fly outclassed 100% of the time. Echo38 has explained he isn't about making two dissimilar aircraft fly the same, but rather allow for the various modifications to be accessed such that the aircraft can be competitive against each other. See highlighted portion of Echo38's post below: At one point the G suit in the 51's were available, but they removed them for balance reason, thus swinging the balance 100% in favor of the German aircraft, as in a virtual world the only real advantage the 51 employed was it's high speed (high G) maneuvers. Type of fuel, G suit, and other modifications would be nice as options in mission editing, so a mission creator can create a completely unbalanced, or reasonably balanced session depending on mission design, and their choices. This concept may prove to pan out to some extent once Normandy is released, but isn't really viable today. Also, for the players who want a purely dogfight experience this scenario is not desired. For all the virtual arm chair pilots who are so rigid as to ignore any modification to an aircraft's numbers even if based on historical fact.... please consider the real forces applied to a pilot in actual combat. For example, in a high G turn the pilot's motion would be greatly restricted as their body weight would increase proportionately with the amount of G's they incur. In other words you wouldn't be able to keep perfect track of your opponent in these turn fights if they start to slip past your 12 position. Go to the gym, and load your head, and neck with 40 or 50 pounds, and start to look around. It's a recipe for immediate injury which would probably result in death in an aircraft. Staying on this example lets think about the required strength to hold the stick in place to maintain a high G turn. It would probably require both arms. In this the likelihood of a 109 pilot able to operate the flaps or elevator trim would be very low if at all. Lets assume the 109 pilot is strong enough to use a single arm on the stick, but his other arm is still 6+ times his weight, and has to move a huge fly wheel which means it's either flaps or trim (not both which you can do in the sim), and at that weight the pilot would be moving the wheel extremely slowly making its use negligible. The 51 on the other hand has the flap lever lower, and it's hydraulically operated. If the pilot didn't need both their arms on the stick for just a brief moment they would be able to drop their arm with gravity to push the flap lever to the desired degrees. Their elevator trim is also a tiny wheel which can be operated much easier. We can go into pilot endurance next. From my understanding the stick forces on the 51 are much less than that of the 109, if this holds true then in an extended fight the 109 pilot would wear out quicker. Eventually they simply wouldn't be able to maneuver anymore due to fatigue. We can go on, and on about cockpit layout, gyro sights, blah blah blah but what all this above just says is that so much of the historical effectiveness of an aircraft is already being gamified by your HOTAS, and lack of someone dropping weights on you every time you pull the stick...

I have my imposters set to large by default just in case this is the method a server is using. I also have my labels on by default in case a server uses the label mod. If however you think those imposters which let you see a plane 50 KM away, but vanish when you reach 3-5 KM (give or take) is a better solution than the label mod which only lets you see a speck from 1-8 KM (and damn hard to see through your plane since it's grey, unless your entire plane is white) then I guess we can't agree on this point. I'm not 100% Alpenwolf. I only joined the server twice when it was first introduced, and both times there were no imposters or label mod, and I haven't been back since. If I see anyone on it, I'll join it tonight (assuming I remember to try), and see if it has one or the other.

I would play on this server, as the mission appears to be put together quite well, but that's only if it uses the label mod used on Burning Skies, Steel Ballz, and ACG. Without it, spotting targets is neigh impossible, and I might as well be flying single player at that point. .... so maybe more people voice their opinion about having the label mod? For those of you who read label, and immediately think ED labels, and spout "No way, I'm not playing with labels!" look at it like this.... It isn't ED all seeing labels. It's a speck, but that's just it. It's a speck. Without the label mod, there is no speck. The server remains at pretty much 0 population, and the WW2 servers prior to the label mod's existence remained at 0 population. Since the WW2 servers started using the label mod they are routinely populated.

Since I've learned the P-51, what I find I want more than anything is the G-suit (too bad it was taken away). The P-51 excels at high speed maneuvers vs the 109, but it's hard to employ them because you'll more than likely blackout as you try to pull lead. Next of course is the damage model update, and lastly I wouldn't mind having a little extra power. I've been in many dogfights where I was just outside the envelope, and if I could have gotten a smidge more power I could have come out victorious (earlier XD!).

I'm looking forward to flying in this again. I was Redfor the first round, so I'll be Bluefor this 2nd round.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

This is a 100% accurate statement. Though I wish teams were force capped ala total / 2 split down the middle, and the mission re-examined to better balance for the split. I guess it depends on how gamey you want to make it. I don't know of too many RL combat pilots capable of flying enemy aircraft let alone a different type of friendly aircraft. Keeping all us plebs alive. -

Ha ha, little do you know Frostie is awesome in the [insert not flanker airframe] *cough* 25T *cough* ... he pretty much single handedly wiped out the Gelendzhik FARP downing two defending fast movers, and one out of the two Mistral Gazelles. I know this because I was one of the Gazelles trying to down him. First time I've ever seen the IR jammer on the 25T actually work. -

The solution is to get Princess Peach trained up in the Vegan, and then RvE can fly Red all the time :music_whistling: Greg, I like night missions as much as the next guy, but it cripples Redfor's ability to capture bases. Lately, whenever I get on it seems the mission is always at night. It's basically 3 hours we can pretty much give to Bluefor. Identifying valid targets in the super low resolution Shkval of the 25T isn't feasible. Without going into specifics the main issue is once the airfield is littered with wrecks among the other static objects at the airfield you'll not be able to locate live targets before passing across the field, and run the risk of being shot down. We can't circle the airfield looking for targets, and we can't use the mark I eyeball. We always have to face it which means extra time flying away far enough to turn our dump truck around, etc... etc... While the choppers have night vision it doesn't do a lot of good because the targeting systems don't have night vision, and adjusting the Shkval's contrast to hopefully identify a ground target requires so much time on station ..... we'll, lets just say the odds of surviving in a contested AO long enough to make any meaningful difference is near the 0% threshold. -

Do not make the mistake that red pilots only ever fly for red, but yes, Blue Flag in general has needed some major changes for a long time. I wouldn't hold your breath until after the great merge .... but maybe not even then. -

He's talking about an exploit only available to the Blue team to regain all your lost lives. BSS_Sniper, don't spread it, otherwise the 1 million strong Blue horde will look like 2 million or 3 million. -

There are a few ways, but usual only a couple available to a consumer depending on where you live, and how well off you are (can you afford it). First is to increase the speed at which you transmit. Not the total bandwidth, but physical speed. For some people in certain geographic regions they can get fiber optics whose transmission speed is the fastest to date. Unfortunately the last mile is usually still copper, so there is room for improvement, but this is beyond the consumer. Another option would be to pay for a VPN. This will allow you to change the route (reduce total hops) you take to the server depending on how many servers/countries the VPN provides. I'm able to reduce my 180ish ping to Blue Flag to 140ish using my VPN some days.

What a great statement from someone who has only ever played the testing round, and if I'm not mistaken I don't think you've ever played on Redfor. Cisco is predominately a Bluefor player from what I remember. In fact, I'm not sure if I've ever seen him play on Redfor until the past couple resets in this testing round. It appears he's getting a first-hand experience in the unbalance. The only thing I can say is If you really believe Redfor has any type of advantage then you're out of your mind. P.S. Bluefor has a way to completely restore their lives which has never been addressed. It's way better than being stuck in a 33. -

Setup the Common PTT (Push To Talk) button in SRS configs, and that will be the button you press to transmit on the selected radio. In DCS level craft (except the Gazelle) you use the in-game radio selector of your aircraft to switch which radio you will transmit on. In FC3/Gazelle you will use the radio key you configure in SRS to switch the radio. -
Pilot G-limit compared to the Bf 109 and Fw 190

I'm a bit confused by this. I hope it will be an option, but if our current P-51D is a late war (as in later than the European model) Pacific model would they not already have the standard G suit by this time? -

Kill messages give too much tactical information. It's especially bad for strikers/choppers when the message comes across some A-10/Ka-50 killed some Strela/etc... All one has to do is look at the spawn point of the player killing targets, then look at the web map to figure out what is being attacked to triangulate their position. Always get on SRS, and lead by example. Use the chat function to ask users to join you on SRS. Get to know some of the typically Red players such as myself, M460, Skipper, BSS_Sniper, NaCH, Tello, Vertical Charlie, Beeroshima (j/k), etc... We'll get on SRS with you. In fact I'm always on SRS when I'm playing. Even if it's just me. Sometimes it stays that way, and other times the entire team ends up using SRS. I hope one day with more of us using it consistently we'll reach Bluefor levels. Lets make the assumption you can't cheat your way around it. The delay would need to be so large it wouldn't be much different than playing the track back now. Here's what I mean. If you delay 30 minutes, then in 30 minutes the opposing team is going to see where you've deployed your KUB's, Igla's, where your choppers are stationed, what your strike aircraft are doing etc.... The delay would have to be 3 hours, or in other words the total time of the mission being played. It depends on the set of Red players on at the time. Some players can understand English just well enough to kinda understand what you're asking, and thus just well enough to type some broken English back to you. Hence why they use the chat. I do several things to get comms going. I get on Buddy Spikes TeamSpeak server to find other Red players, and coordinate a flight using SRS if I find them there. If I can't coordinate a flight via TeamSpeak I'll simply get on Redfor's GCI channels in SRS (126.00 AM / 121.00 AM), and call out intentions. I've linked up with people doing this. Lastly I've used chat because sometimes the only ones on are the Russians. Sometimes they have one who can speak English, but usually it's closer to what I wrote in the first paragraph. Same menu system you use to get troops, crates, etc... When in an aircraft that can capture intel there will be an intel menu. You have to be very close. Something like 5 KM to capture the intel, but you can use the same menu to deliver the intel right after you've captured it. -

SA-3, and SA-8 are shared. The Igla/Strela/Shilka or Stinger/Vulcan/Avenger/Chaparral are side specific. Check the PAK intel (F10 comms menu) to figure out who owns what, or look at the web map. -
