Ok. First. Please. I know this is "basic' spaee me the comments. 2nd i knowhow tonuse the radios... at least how theyre supposed to work. Now that out of the way Hbs officual stance is Ez comms is borked. Either way my F14 radios rarely work. Yes i know the rio has a different radio than pilot i believe stick has UHF then rio VHF. Regardless its easy to figure out as the rio can go below a certain number vlah blah. And of course most missions have the freak Heres the issue In sp or mp.. my squad has this issue too - I cant het responses. Oh sure i can do a quick mission and get a ranker response (weird) but if anyone wants i can put endless tracks of me calling the carrier in the campaign earmest will or almost any other situation. Wtf is going on? I manually enter the freaks btw. Ez comms actualy helped some but not entirely. Does anyone want tracks? Ideas? Or is this a community issue ongoing? Thanks

I apologize qui non and draconus. What may seem basic to some isnt always. Its not like we all went tonthe same flying school. So some features some people like me who have flown since release just.. never used. Others may be aves in SP but I bet cant use the RIO seat Z *at all* and thats ok. But i just took offense at what zi felt was getting towards mocking - see I flowed chucks guide and did tests. Nothing. I looked online.. go search youtube. Reapers video is being the laser not the dropper. And so on. I think it mqy be the mission or idk what. Ive always had trouble with CCRP That said - im gonna open a thread on another "basic subject" again you guys can rest assured i know how to use the radios or theoretically according to manual chucks guide etc etc

Hey first Much respect for reaching out and being a total gentleman. I know i come acriss a certain bway hutnif you do talk to me you realize im just reallllly blunt. If youre american youll know my states ppl are known ass m@ssholes for a reason. 2nd youre right BUT i got a track - tell jester to datalink. Then jump to his seat. The switch remains OFF.

Alright I apologize. I know draconus actually served and I didnt but Im not clueless on the tomcat ajd I took offense. The gentleman in question first of all Mucho respect to him for msging me and apologizing I can come across abrasive. Im just blunt. I will apologize when wrong. 2nd going on a dependent sday cruise isnt bragging. Theres real pilots here. I was just angry and took offense at the idea i didnt have the slightest idea of wtf i was doing.

yep. its sort of hard to see, but its the only button that far back and to the left that will flip. you can also goto keybindings in options, search oxygen, and find a suitable key to press to turn it on.

ah I see. makes sense I wont use many 'aids' for the same reason. Theres a limit though - once watching real world fighter jocks play one uncheckd a couple of the crazier realism options on a game. when queried he said 'in a real plane I have advantages I *DONT* have sitting on a screen, no haptic feedback etc, and also, I want to enjoy the game, not WORK.' Not using zoom doesnt seem like WORK but it doesnt seem like a cheat either. but whatever makes you happy bro dont let anyone tell u otherwise

Im familiar with the F14, ive been flying the module a year and have actually touched one, and seen one do a sonic boom. I got the pix to prove it. Do you? Have you ever been on a nuclear powered carrier? I got to for a day. and see F14s fly and touch them. A6s and F18s too. SH60 as well. Blah blah blah. (point is its rude to tell people they dont know anything about something when.. you dont know *at all* what they know) I was unfamiliar with every knob in the RIO seat and told by my stick it was important for IFF and so did so. Regardless, even if you tell Jester to tune (A 7 4 - pick host yes I know about it, I explained in the OP im not a n00b) Just saying you come across pretty rude, I was very thorough in explaining my problem, my experience, etc. Just because I was wrong about one buttons function means Im not really familiar with the F14? LMAO ok :music_whistling: But Ill leave you with this. how close have you been to operational F14s then? Because unless you were a pilot or aircrew jumping on me and saying 'i dont know about the plane' because I got link 4 mixed up is crazy

First - dont take this wrong. Great post, interesting, id like if you added more. even about the F14 D which I know probably the least about here. That said - the title. what could have been. lets be fair - the F14 was in service 73 to 06. we got our moneys worth And lets also be fair, The fact the CIA went NUTS in 09 destroying old F14s over Irans aging F14A fleet speaks volumes about how badass a plane it really is. As far as walleyes by the by, Idk why, but in a DCE campaign F18s (standing in for A6s.. god I want a6s..) would SUCK with say cluster bombs or whatever. If I gave them walleyes theyd devastate anything Idk much about the A12 or even what itd look like. however I know the A6s couldnt be fixed. had to be replaced. Still nostalgia and IDK what makes me wish theyd just built a few hundred intruders more. again Heatblur - Ill literally give you a testicle and liver ( or lots of cash ) for an A6. if you cant get a license make a A6 and name it something else and change minor details! noone will notice! ;) even if we never get flyable I cant wait until I can escort AI a6s etc. They really really complement F14s well and are sorely needed for carrier ops. Everything else is afighter bomber. The A6 is a dead up carrier bomber. We need one. _

yes. Ive landed her. I find opening drogue chute mid air 2 or 3 seconds before htting the deck helps. the games a tad un realistic in that regard. a month or 2 ago I couldnt get a catapult to work for my f14. I angled it and just went full burner and took off... with a combat load. of course.. china doesnt have any carriers in game to land on.. soo.

well Qui thatd make sense - the backseat is noticeably higher than the front. this is what OP forgot. it was a 2 man plane. I almost always tally ho first when flying RIO. and i think IRL the same was true, less workload and more time (especially closer where the AWG 9 is more or less out of my hands because PAL/PLM) to just use the mark I eyeball

Guys - you can always tell if theres a lazer at night. turn on your NVGs. lazers are visible :Facepalm: it even says so in the briefing ffs.

Mission 3 I cant get the GBUS to track. can someone step by step explain buddy lazing from the dropping air crafts perspective? Im not a n00b, Ive had the module since day 1. But NEVER can get buddy lazing to work cept once with the JF17 and a JTAC. Otherwise online with my squad nope. also trying to drop multiple LGBS they neever track or whatever. I know the lazers were on, I could see them in NVG and the targets. Also - ez comms off, I even checked miz editor for freaks, Im on the right freaks, NOONE will answeerr me. and yes I know which radio is UHF and wich is VHF and which can do which. So some advice or help Please dont send me to chucks guide. or youtube. I trawled both extensively. Im doing exactly what is intstructed. but its just not working Can I simply ignore the mission orders and dumb bomb the targets?

the one quickie I havent tried. The Mission in qestion demands you use CCRP. Id rather not, I hate using it, but it says use CCRP for the campaign (so it looks like a flyover not dive bomb) Ive gotten buddy lazing to work with a JTAC in the JF17 but never experimented otherwise

I mean buddy drop as in another plane lazing and youre in the plane dropping. I use SC too. Look no offense but Im no n00b. I fly rio online in a squad and play this module every day frm day 1. I know what radios can reach or not reach. Im using the right freaks. I even checked the freaks in ME. easy comms is OFF. I dont get it and have tracks, NO REPLY NO MISSIONS. I go to jester seat only to turn on the LINK 4 IFF - he DOESNT if you leave him alone!! also I know the lazers were there for sure. how? NVG. I could see the beams etc. I could see the targets. THat wasnt the prob. I coulda dumb bombed them to oblivion. The prob was the bombs wouldnt track. Ok it doesnt say drop them as a pair in a pass. While we're on it Ive had terrible luck dropping multiple GBUs in the F14. its gotten me and my stick killed before or the bbombs WONT track.

hmm ok. What am I doing wrong then. Ill send you a track if you want... bizarre. #1 didnt track I watched it. #2 hit but didnt track. it went flying like a f***ing amraam and hit the top of the Oil rig and actally damaged me somehow! no I wasnt that low at first I wasnt sure if to pickle on or both at the same time so since it works for you;; and you explained CCRP, what about buddy drop. you dont need to do *ANYTHING*? I mean Im no ace but my last campaign (hunters over the yalu) I flew no redos, no deaths. Havent had any deaths or failures this campaign.. until now.
