  1. Here is a video of the issue.
  2. They need to stay on longer I agree. That being said visual signature counts in some areas so lighting up your boat isn't always the best idea. This is the reason the pilots were happy the F14B could take off with no A/B it helped to hide the carrier from being spotted with no A/B plumes.
  3. Hitting the NWS button will unlock the target. Make sure you do it before you switch off your radar. Radar is very beta still. It doesn't turn of yet if you are on standby you need to switch to OFF.
  4. Whats wrong is those are best case numbers. No load light on fuel nice cold air etc. In real life when its HOT or plane is loaded they get nowhere close to the Max Performance numbers. The plane is not a power house like the F15 etc. Its not going to zoom climb etc at those types of altitudes. Theres very little air to burn up there so less thrust but less drag but its not a net gain. Can the plane go up to 50,000FT sure but its going to take a long time to get there. Can it go Mach 1.8 ya it will totally clean low on fuel in cold air at around FL360. Lower it wont go as fast there's to much drag. Higher there's to little oxygen to burn for enough thrust. Its not just going to zoom up to 40K Ft and zoom around at 1.7-1.8 at any alt etc. These are perfect case numbers in an imperfect world. Turn temp down on map clean plane up go to burner at FL360-370 you will get up there if your patient. Also higher altitude go lower your indicated speed is so your margin for flight is smaller and once you get slow in 18 its hard to get the speed back up at high altitude. Climb at 350 KIAS and level out FL370 and give it another try. If anything it may have to much dry thrust as if you just have pylons on it will Supercruise very easily.
  5. I know this is a movie but seems to have been shot in a real 18 cockpit. If you go to 2:10 you can see the major warnings covering the ADI. ${1}
  6. I don't think it should block anything. The advisory system is very Beta still like the rest of the AC. My understanding is it should restack and not take up so much of the DDI but it doesn't seem to do that yet.
  7. How are you getting paddles contact I just get a clearance to land like land based airport lol.
  8. This is because your stick isn't perfectly centered. If the FCS detects any stick movement you cant arm BALT. Add a small amount of deadzone and it will work.
  9. Hey Ranch, The FM is still being tuned. Last patch they fixed the flaps causing a nose drop and sink... It still has a ways to go. Seems like it needs more inertia for a 33,000LBS plane on landing IMHO.
  10. Beacons are for ramp start up and day. Formation lights are for Dawn Dusk Night or in Clouds to help your wingman line up properly in formation. Nav lights are for use at night but I doubt they get used much in combat. Strobes can be used 247 but again not in combat zone as they and beacons are anti collision lights.
  11. Squirrel the stick is neutral when the jump occurs. :music_whistling: I am pulling hard to rotate because the plane is 45,500LBS with 12 Stab Trim. Here's another track of the issue and you can see the stick position. I am not even touching my stick and it goes from 12 to 16 degrees on T/O Roll. Trim Jump 4.trk
  12. Here is another track of it. Set to 12 with T/O Trim and on roll it jumps to 16 degrees... Trim Jump 3.trk
  13. This is done off AoA not speed? I know the KIAS would change for diff Alt etc. But never knew that.
  14. Even if I just set it to 12 with T/O Trim it will jump on T/O roll to 16 something is up...
  15. I was under the impression that you needed to set Stab Trim to A/C weight per manual. Can you confirm you just set 12 Trim on ground?
  16. Field.
  17. Most normal traffic patterns are flown 1000-1500Ft AGL in either left or right direction. This will depend on the way the wind is blowing and how the airport is set up. Upwind Crosswind Downwind Base Final legs. You make 45 degree turns not full 90s. That being said if its a big jet you can kinda race track it. You typically in VFR will enter the pattern at a 45 Degree angle. You are going to want to get on AoA even for field landing then use the throttle to put your velocity vector on the touchdown point on the runway (typically the two large white stripes). If you are on AoA and Vector is on runway with hud uncaged you have your approach speed. You can also look at landing speeds chart and see what is correct speed for your weight. If you are on AoA you don't have to sweat it. Once you have the main and nose gear down immediately go to full Mil or A/B and begin to rotate. If its a short runway you may need A/B. Bring flaps to half and fly runway heading down the runway. When you turn downwind you want to be at pattern altitude. So if 1500Ft is pattern you want to be at 750 at crosswind turn then when you turn downwind be at 1500AGL. Turn base when the runway is 45 degrees from your aircraft you will get a feel when to turn. You can fly the entire pattern on AoA which will give you a nice slow pattern to practice. You usually set the aircraft dirty again on downwind leg so drop your flaps and gear and get on AoA again. Military airports may have different procedures but your not going to be entering the pattern rocketing around at 300 KIAS at a civi airport. Wags has several videos on his YT channel showing field landing procedure.
  18. What a tease!
  19. Full flaps are for Carrier traps regardless of weight. More Flaps = Lower Approach Speed and more safety margin for carrier traps.
  20. Seems to be once A/A mode is selected your uncage button is slaved to only effect weapons. In A/G the hud seems to automatically switch to uncaged for obvious reasons.
  21. You cant use it yet. We don't have a roadmap at this time so its unknown when certain things will be available.
  22. Well after more playing with radar if you hit the lock button you can then use the TDC to slew around the scan zone and even change its width. Seems to be in a different mode. Having more luck using it like this. That being said when it finds something with smaller scan zone it locks and goes into STT immediately. @Alphamale When Sidewinders are selected the cage switch is affecting them not your hud.
  23. When I take off sometimes with plane that is loaded ready to go on ramp, the T/O trim I set jumps at about 120KIAS. On the takeoff run if I watch the FCS page I will have it set to 15+ for weight etc. At about 120+ Kias the Stab Trim will jump to like 20 or 22 and you can see the stab jump up. I am not pulling to rotate I am neutral on stick and it jumps. This happens sometimes on cold A/C I start aswell. Here's a track of it. Trim Jump 2.trk
