This afternoon 2 hours on your mission 3 with a couple of buddies. Love this mission but still haven't finished it cleanly. All in all a great day thanks again for the hard work, personally I love the hot starts , don't have time for startups in the real simulator and don't have enough down time to spend 15 minutes waiting for an INS. Yea but in a real aircraft it doesn't work like that, because it doesn't need to, you can feel it and after a while you know how much you are pulling. The stick in the F3 did get heavier with speed to stop you snatching 10g and breaking the jet but it was never a g vs pressure relationship. To be fair tho if you want to buy a ffb stick carry on, personally I prefer the Jetseat that gives me realistic feedback that I am used to.and is way cheaper at the moment [emoji16]. I wonder what you mean by stick force implemented . In a real plane there is no g force through the stick just your arm weighs more holding it [emoji6] Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

I was T37, T38 and Hawk so maybe they had to modify it I am getting old now lol Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Actually the Autopilot on Boeing 777 does a bit of both in a strong crosswind during an autoland. Military pilots are taught the crab technique tho. Imagine you are flying your backside down the extended centerline and point the nose where it needs to keep your backside on the extended centerline. As you approach the flare squeeze the rudder to straighten the aircraft apply opposite aileron to keep the wings level that's the biggest error I see when teaching it. Final note is that DCS has a crazy amount of shear so at the ground it's half of what it is at 1500ft this means flying your backside ( the aircraft ) down the extended centerline means constant adjustments which is actually harder than real life. You could try a Jetseat from Andre's shop the buffet from the seat varies with AOA. You can even have a g effect on but for me the AOA effect is far more realistic and useful. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Pm'd you his name, maybe his memory was coloured by flying F16N's and his comments may have been relative to flying that [emoji16]. If the current flight model is close to correct I can see where he is coming from. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

F-14 Radar's weird behavior (Multiplayer)
WindyTX replied to SspectrumM's topic in Bugs and Problems
I believe it's the track store incorrectly updated a track using a different close target so it gets an incorrect speed.and heading. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk -
Possibly but he instructed at Top gun 86-89 and we had a mutual friend from the F3 so I believe him. The D was a different kettle of fish as you say. I do tend to think we look back on our previous types through rose coloured glasses. I shot an F15 from a neutral merge once in bfm but it was a bit of a one off ( tho it's always the fight I quote) and tend to forget the times he just out rated me for a quick kill. Hence my last comment that in most cases its somewhat academic. I wouldn't enter a fight with a gen 4 fighter without advantage. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

You are correct as was previously mentioned the Aim54 is borked right now with it being fire and forget off the rails so it is a very cheap shot. With regard to the F14A I met an F14 pilot deadheading home last week and we had an interesting conversation. He said the F14 A was almost impossible to dogfight as the engines liked to surge even at moderate alpha. With regard to the F14B he mentioned beating an F15 was almost impossible from a neutral merge in a B as the F15s performance was far superior ( "but it can't land on the boat"). With regard to you beating an F18c in visual combat I would assume that the F18 pilot didn't know how to fight it. It's a single circle fighter and should beat the F14 handily from a neutral merge. In most cases its a little academic as most merges don't start neutral but I thought I would pass on the info. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Flew mission one today (edited for multiplayer 1- F14b and 1- F18c ). Worked flawlessly and was good fun thanks. As an observation I removed all the static AC from the ship as it kills framerate in VR. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Sorry I haven't got it anymore I think it may have just been on DCS1.5. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Yep requested a multitude of times over the last 3 years still no joy, the VR NVG mod breaks integrity unfortunately. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Sounds like this is a pretty common problem I have to exercise my x axis a lot and sometimes it's still twitchy even with pulling the plug and re inserting it. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Yep I used to position the side ones so that I could see my wingmen when they were in close and the upper one to look back over the tail. Unfortunately I don't use them in DCS much as they kill the framerate in Multiplayer to much. Last time I had them on in F18 it was weirdly distorted so not worth having on. The Heatblur ones are good for photos but that's it. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Probably just because of where they put the camera. In reality the mirrors are set to look to the sides and rear u don't see yourself in them at all. Heatblurs current implementation is cool especially when one of my group did a skin for me with my Helmet in it. Totally useless for ops. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Yep I need the cow and sheep in my game. That way you know if you are flying too low. If you can see a cows legs thats OK 250ft agl. If you can see a sheep's legs you are flying too low [emoji16][emoji16] Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Iirc it's fully counter clockwise in the notch (which you can't feel in the sim) which is auto and I agree it would be nice if it started hot in the right position. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Agreed you need to use the compass initially but after that the angle will build. The only way to do it properly is to have your Rio talk you through it from the back. A person not Jester obviously it's a shame the 65 azimuth limit lines are not still available in STT. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Vertical resolution looks the same tho plus oculus software is significantly better so practically the Rift may win out if FOV isn't a big deal for you. It's a big if obviously, but it will also be a lot easier to run for those without a 2080ti. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

+1 why do care. Not sure how exactly the F14 did it but in a land based aircraft with similar systems our real flow was:- At the jet check the switches and seats power on. Back seater jumps in starts align loads computer Pilot checks Logbook ,does walkaround. Pilot gets in, starts Jet, normally a couple of minutes left on the align by then at most. My point is that what we do right now is not exactly realistic it's a Sim with limitations. Let's give people all the options possible and let them choose. Why do really want to punish someone on a server who wants to get airborne not sit around for 9 minutes especially with Jester not staring the align till after engine start, it's a game, let the server owner run it as he likes. Personally without a fast align option if it's not a hot F14 I am not going to fly it. I normally have a 90 minute slot for DCS each day so spending 12 minutes getting ready is not going to happen. I was gonna order but 1 guy in our group has been through hell. 1st headset was DOA it took a month to get a replacement sent. 2nd headset arrived with a dodgy lead connection in the headset he was up till 1 am to go through their fault finding (almost 3 hours) they are replacing the headset again and this appears to be a common problem. We have one guy with a working headset who loves it and the 2nd guy is fed up with it. It's a small sample size of 2 but for $600 I am not gonna risk it with customer service like this. wondering if I'm doing something wrong with my CASE 1
WindyTX replied to smallberries's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
If you see the upper green chevron you are slow. Not correct technique but in a Sim you can't feel the aircraft so it's harder to anticipate the increase in power required as you start the final turn. I fly slightly red (donut and red preferably) until I roll out in the groove then ease it back to on speed as I correct into the groove. The current flight model on speed is close to the wrong side of the drag curve, when you get the green chevron you are on the wrong side and need a load of power to counteract the increased drag this then stows the speed brakes and dlc and gives you an unstable pattern. Try the pattern slightly hot as I say not strictly correct but we aren't all Navy Pilots [emoji57]. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
