On the 16 AGR Training School we put together a video on how to fly close formation. While its not perfect the Squad has found it useful so we are making it public here. Q1F_RQCxiH8 Hope you find it useful and if you have any questions you can find us at 16agr.com.

Rate vs Radius fight, know what fight you are in and what Energy your aircraft needs. Also never reverse unless you are sure the guy near your six has flown through [emoji6][emoji6]. Nice video good learning points. What happenend to the Wingman who entered the fight . Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

If it was easy there would be a lot more players in the market. The stick top is great. The desk mounts are quality , I am happy to wait for another quality product. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
WindyTX replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
I wonder if someone could make a trimming stick without needing ffb patent permission. So when you trim the stick would hold position like real life. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -

Honestly I think the Jetseat is better feedback as Aircraft sticks dont have FFB in real life. Ignoring the stick shaker which is not in Fighters the Aircraft frame gives you the feedback which the Jetseat simulates. So if you cant get a ffb stick I would try a Jetseat its relatively cheap and might give you what you miss from the stick. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -
My 5 year old one bricked. The pcb was $40 and took 2 months to come so I bought a new one. Pcb arrived and fixed the old one so could be worth trying especially if its in stock. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Ok maybe this helps. The Aircraft is designed so when it stalls the Elevator will also stall. The elevator is producing a downward force in normal flight when it stalls the downward force is lost and the nose will drop unstalling the wing. If you leave the stick in a constant position the elevator and wing will unstall the nose will raise again and you will restart the cycle entering a stall again. No FCS just Aerodynamics. Sorry there are a few possibilities. Is the aircraft slowing down ? At the end of the day it comes down to AOA. Take a look at the guage in the Aircraft. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Pre transonic Aircraft stall at pretty much a constant AOA as long as no lift devices deploy. Stall speed is a function of g load. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

How much better is Rift than Vive for DCS World?
WindyTX replied to captainkoloth's topic in Virtual Reality
Sorry I wasnt clear enough, I was talking about real life . If you think you can spot a Mig 23 from an F15 at 15km without a radar at a 0 to 20 degree aspect then I am afraid 95% of the time you wont, 5% maybe cos even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally. With a radar at that range vid is impossible in real life, most VID come well inside 5nm and for a 0-20 aspect well inside that. So my point was that DCS has made it too easy with a sufficient Rig, VR is actually closer to real life. About the lower resolution making it easier in VR that doesnt work if you use a High PD like most of us do as your spotting pixel dissappears. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -
Tyres are a lot more robust irl than they are in DCS and why they burst on T/O I really dont understand as there is way more stress on landing as I mentioned. I guess it would be rather a pain to actually model it correctly but maybe they could do a different speed for TO vs LDG. Most Fighters at least all the Western ones Approach speed is a function of weight and Aircraft have an approach AOA. As they nearly all fly a constant angle either 2.5 or 3.0 degrees your rate of descent is directly related to the ground speed. Which had me curious when someone stated that you fly a constant ROD and vary speed for weight. As you approach the runway you vary the landing flare according to the rate of descent which is why it takes practice to get right. Landing with a tailwind/heavy flare a bit early with a headwind /light you can flare a bit late. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

C130 you may see at 30km but seeing a mig23 at 15km especially if he is nose pointing you is very unlikely without a radar and a TD circle. Yes you may be able to in DCS with your 4k screen and them putting a black pixel for you to find, but without a radar fighter size targets are almost impossible to spot out at 15-18km IRL. Rift is a bit harder than RL but if you think you can routinely spot and F15 head on at 18km IRL without a radar I am sorry but that would be a no. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -
Aerobraking generally saves brake life most wear on the tyre happens on spin up on landing. At least thats the case as long as you are not locking the brakes up which you shouldnt be. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

How much better is Rift than Vive for DCS World?
WindyTX replied to captainkoloth's topic in Virtual Reality
On the original question fwiw I used my Vive in DCS for the first time in some months it ran really well I was surprised there was a little bit of side look stuttering compared to my Rift setup but the vive system has a 1060 6gb vs 1080 on the Rift. Sorry not gonna switch graphics cards, but there was a significant improvement since I last used it. I found it quite acceptable and would happily use it if the rift broke. On the last VR vs a screen the major advantage of vr is that it is way closer to Flying. With a screen you are playing a game yep you can get higher resolution and spotting targets is easier. With VR you have a massive advantage when it comes to actually flying military style. Instructing someone on formation flying and combat spread is way easier if the guy has VR. He can pick it it up way quicker because it is closer to the real thing. At the end of the day (my opinion only) if you want to get the feel of what its like to fly a military fighter without signing up then VR is the only way to go. If you want to play a game with the best looking visuals then stick with a screen and save some money. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -
Notching over water
WindyTX replied to mj3437's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Ok here goes. Against a pulse doppler radar like most of our modern DCS Aircraft when you notch you are actually putting you velocity of closure into the Radars Notch . The radar has the notch else all the ground would appear as a target as it is moving towards you at your Velocity. So simply put you are notching the Radar and ground clutter has no bearing at all. Better more modern Radar have smaller notches. Against a Pulse Radar (No Doppler) Mig21 and F5E then it does have an effect, as against a smooth sea a good operator can pick up a target in Pulse mode. Caveat, all real life stuff and I havent spent enough time testing to see how this is modelled in DCS so your mileage may vary[emoji16] Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -
Thing is a real stick in flight doesnt really have a center per se. You trim it till you dont have to hold it in place, normally in pitch because you have to trim for speed, that position is then the new position it holds if you let go. ( not talking about Aircraft with Autotrim FBW like the M2K). In the Sim unless you have fancy Hyd damped Cyclic then you trim the stick it goes to its center position, in other words as you trim you move the stick till it is back in its center position. This is a problem with a hard center as it produces a tendancy to overcontrol in close formation. I used to deliberately fly out of trim to keep the stick out of the center notch with my Warthog if I was flying close, which is certainly not realistic. It also made the M2K a little tricky as it Autotrim means that you are often stuck in the center detent. Of course if you have a soft center detent then this is not a problem. To be brutally honest its not really relevant as you fly a plane by moving the controls to get the desired response which you can do no problem in DCS whatever your controls just some make life easier than others. +1 on the disabling ASW the jelly effect is too annoying for me so I disable it every time. Which should even out the 2 headsets but the Rift still seems clearer to me even with ASW off. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -
Rusky you must have been watching an old Airliner. In a fighter it responds to tiny movements of the stick. The only way I have found to get close is to use an extension so that the movement almost mimics the real thing but it also needs a soft center and a tiny dead zone.
