I have both and Dcs on both. If dcs is the priority then the rift wins. The screen has a larger sweetspot the software is better and the headset is more comfortable. If you are going to do roomscale in a significant amount then the Vive wins, the tracking is better and its easier to get 360 degree tracking. For dcs I use my Rift for roomscale I use the Vive. I see a possible problem in that the button will be assigned according to the base as thats what dcs recognizes so if you are gonna swap between A10c stick and F18c stick on the same base then you may have a button assignment problem. At the moment the Virpil Mongoose on the TM base is recognized as the TM Warthog. The base is recognized not the stick top. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

3 of us from 16AGR were using the Normandy map for confined area Helo landing practice. It was fun but we are getting occasional crashes and graphical errors. Through the inferno in Nevada was OK yesterday but again we were getting crashes and some weird graphical anomalies, the Hud in the Su27 was barely useable on full brightness. Overall its an Alpha and living up to its name but there is still some multiplayer fun to be had you just have to search it out for now. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I think it depends if you want to play a game or fly. On three screens with track ir you are playing a game, you may get better resolution and it may be easier to spot aircraft and tell their aspect, but with oculus rift it is close to actually flying, it is a totally different experience. When you feel your stomach lift as you bunt over a rise in a gazelle it makes you realise how visually oriented we are. The caveat, 5% of the population cant deal with the visuals with no actual motion, a friend of mine who was an F5 QWI and F18 pilot managed 5 mins on the F5 before having too stop, now the B777 sim makes him feel bad on the "ground" too, so if you can try before you buy. Yep you can, but there was not a single mp server available, the mission generator would not work without the asset pack, the only way I could use it was to make my own mission. So back to.my original point, be aware if you buy just Normandy it will be severely limited and in my opinion at this stage spend the extra $15 so you can use it. 1. Without having to make your own mission. 2. Use the mission generator. 3. Play online. Obviously this may change in the future but at this stage, while yes you can fly a Huey around and use other units, if point 1 2 or 3 apply to you spend the extra $15 Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Kind of drifted off my point. Which was IMO the map is crippled without the asset pack I have no problem with the $60 price I have every module even the C101. Yes I admitted I screwed up to start with buying the map instead of the bundle for the extra $3. Sorry I guess i should have been more specific. If you want to fly any WW2 stuff in Normandy then you need the asset pack so make sure you get the bundle. Yes you can fly a Huey around if you make a mission but the mission generator will not work without the asset pack for Normandy. My point is that for $15 extra the Asset pack is a must for 95% of US. The point of this post was to say that Normandy is crippled if you dont buy the asset pack , there was not a single MP server not using the pack this morning and while I like flying the Huey I spend 90% of my time multiplayer so I coughed up another $30 to make the map of use. First of all I have to admit I messed up. I thought I had bought Normandy with the asset pack a couple of months ago, Yesterday I find that I had only bought the map and not both obviously my screw up as there was only $3 difference at the time. Eventually after using the cmd line install I got them both downloaded, and tried to activate ( that was when I found my error :( ). So this morning I had a go to see what I could do with just the map the answer is I can make my own mission in Normandy thats basically it. Cant fly any ww2 instant action all requires Asset pack. Obviously cant use any online all requires the asset pack. Basically without the Asset pack the map is useless. Obviously I am a bit frustrated that it was possible to buy the map without the asset pack at the Pre release stage only an idiot would right :(. For ED come on I know you spent time making the asset pack but come on Just sell it at $60 for both , the map is useless without the asset pack. Before some other schmuck goes and buys just the terrain only to find out how crippled and then has to spend another $30 please stop selling it on its own.

Ok I got my pro and regular set up like many here I had the flashing red but it seemed to fix itself. I hit load for the profile, set gives me an error, but the load makes the stick work anyway. 1 question all my Warthog button assignments are all over the place now I guess as I have to redo the profile on DCS it's kinda irelavant but the trigger is 8 iso 1. Could the profile have not made them the same numbers as normal. Or did I just mess up the load so it's my mess up and not the profile.? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Ok, in use the button are excellent, the configuration is great I am getting used to it tho I did get shot cos of a switch pigs, but that is just a matter of time. The only thing I would change is the brake lever it is a bit too flexible, but overall I am a happy camper need the gimbal tho the extra length makes the Warthog gimbal feel even worse. Okay so the Virpil sticktop on a 20cm Sahaj extension. It's too tall really to use with the desk mounts as the Stick top is so tall. Not sure what I will do yet waiting for the Virpil base. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

My gear all arrived yesterday well packed no problem very pleased. I like the Grip but actually I was most impressed with the desk mounts. Got called out to work so no more photos for now I only had time to get my Warthog throttle on its plate and attached to the desk, very secure I have a half inch thick curved safety glass desk and wasn't sure how secure it would attach, but went on rock solid. Definitely need the gimbal for the brake axis hope it ships soon as it will make a massive difference.

I was glad the plug pulled out of the grip, I would never have been able to attach it to my Warthog extension if it had not. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
