This is where I am confused. Maybe it something in DCS but in the real world Aim120 was a huge advantage. And I spent a lot of time going against it in ACMI ranges . What tactics work in DCS that evens the score on an active missile with such a large no escape zone. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Someone just explained to me that in DCS the Aim120 are not the same as real world. Duly noted Cheers Andy Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Yep I apologize but when someone told me to go and get some experience I could not resist I will edit it out. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

I second get a CV1. May be because I am a pilot in RL but CV1 is close enough and Pixel density increase makes the resolution appear much better. I could never go back to a monitor it just doesnt compare. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

I would like to second this request. Active missile take all the fun out out of Air to Air. In the old days pre Amraam ( yep I am that old) 50% of the time we ended up in a visual merge. And sometimes we would go out and do Golfs and Guns just for A/C handling plus :). Active missiles are great in the real world where you dont actually want to get shot !!! But comeon this is a simulation cant we stick to the early nineties pre Amraam when Air to Air was a blast. At missile timeout you are always in visual range and the PK's are pretty low so visual combat is the order of the day. Amraams are great if dont want to actually fly the Aircraft . There was even talk about putting missile on an airliner cos it could carry so many missiles and with such long ranges who needs to manouvre !!!! Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

How much better is Rift than Vive for DCS World?
WindyTX replied to captainkoloth's topic in Virtual Reality
Yep gave up on Battle. As for the rest I havent had a lot if time. Often just 2 player on A10c on my own mission fir training. 2player L39c instruction with a buddy tho he has only just received his Vive so instruction is about to start in earnest :). 104th was fine on CV1 and OK on Vive once airborne. Tried a pairs take off on Vive tho on Open Conflict and that was a disaster because of the judder. ( update rate was so slow it was unuseable ) Plus on Vive F15 was noticeably worse than other Aircraft. Overall I live with the judder at times I am lucky in that I am not susceptible to nausea or motion sickness so I just stick with it as it doesnt normally last too long. How much better is Rift than Vive for DCS World?

Non I run the 1.5 beta tho' for me it has always been stable. I prioritise frame rate over looks, tho I have not had time to look at all the settings for the 1080. I have been exclusively VR since I got a DK2 nearly 2 years ago. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk -
How much better is Rift than Vive for DCS World?
WindyTX replied to captainkoloth's topic in Virtual Reality
I have both the Vive and the CV1. For dcs with pixel set at 2.0 and a gtx 1080 the CV1 is more like 70% better. Rarely any judder I can read the A10c hud and it is a much better experience overall. I am keeping the Vive because the rest of my family love it. It plays DCS ok and if you need to justify the expense of VR to anyone else the Vive is the way to go. Playing on a Vive is still way better than ever using a monitor and I found the fov and Color a significant step up from DK2. Different A/C seem to work better in VR than others I find the F15c to be the worst. A10c is ok except for the HUD. The Russian A/C with the simpler HUDs are easier to read. If you mainly want DCS get a CV1 Play other stuff Vive is a good choice. All of it is better than a monitor. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk -
If you look at my test with a gtx 1080 and cv1 it is exactly the same. When an area gets bombed fps drops to 10fps. Luckily the F15c instant action has been the main one that I noticed it on. I am sure the Devs are aware as it has been mentioned a few times. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

What card did you use . Mine did not have a power connection. Do I feel like an idiot now. Thanks for that power supply will be connected shortly. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Tests with Oculus CV1 and a GTX 1080 pixel density
WindyTX replied to WindyTX's topic in Virtual Reality
Air cooled only so I found I got unstable above 4.2. Board and chip are nearly 4 years old though so its past time but the thing has been so reliable I have stuck with it. It is certainly getting to its final year tho :) Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk -
Tests with Oculus CV1 and a GTX 1080 pixel density
WindyTX replied to WindyTX's topic in Virtual Reality
Just checked my motherboard says PCIE 3.0 ready I may need to upgrade my Bios as its running at 2.0 Doh my chip only supports PCIe 2.0. DK2 is a lot easier to run than Cv1 I had to lower stuff when I got it going. I will try some higher settings though as of now Pixel density 2.0 is the winner. -
OK I ran some tests. Settings All set low preset then I changed Medium Textures Medium Visible Range MSAA 4 Anti aliasing Off Clutter minimum and Trees at 1500 Flat Shadows 1st on F15c instant action Pixel 2.0 I got 90-45-30fps for 95% dropped to 10 FPS as the bombs hit the airfield. Card ran up to 100% during that time and was averaging nearly 50% so about 15% more utilization. Pixel 0 results were almost the same frame rate wise just less utilization still dropped to 10 FPS and maxed out the Card . I could see no perceptible difference in the cockpit. Ran 2.0 on A10c instant action wow I can read the hud. Frame rates stuck at 45-90fps Utilization of the 1080 was running around 60% around the town. When I fly the A10c I will definitely be increasing the pixel density it looks to be an almost no cost Item with a GTX 1080 Overall it was a great VR time especially in the A10c with Pixel density 2.0 I have been using VR for 2 years and to finally be able to read the A10 HUD was a godsend. The only Judder I got was when the bombs hit the Airfield May have maxed out my Processor.

Originally I said the GTX 1080 was waste of money but was asked to do some tests with Pixel Density. I wrote at the end of my original post as well. Mods feel free to delete this new thread but I thought it may be of interest on its own. OK I ran some tests. 1.53 latest beta Settings All set low preset then I changed Medium Textures Medium Visible Range MSAA 4 Anti aliasing Off Clutter minimum and Trees at 1500 Flat Shadows 1st on F15c instant action ( I used this because the Vive hated this one and Pixel 2.0 I got 90-45-30fps for 95% dropped to 10 FPS as the bombs hit the airfield. When I fly the A10c I will definitely be increasing the pixel density it looks to be an almost no cost Item with a GTX 1080 Multiplayer on the 104th server Frame rates 30-90 no judder looked great Pixel 2.0 and on looking more carefully even the F15c was clearer shame I cant read Russian for the SU27 Overall it was a great VR time especially in the A10c with Pixel density 2.0 I have been using VR for 2 years and to finally be able to read the A10 HUD was a godsend. The only Judder I got was when the bombs hit the Airfield May have maxed out my Processor.

Sounds like you get judder all the time ? In which case even a gtx 980 would be a good update and they are down to about $270 used. I will try and get my framerates today if poss. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Yep i am on low too if I turn up much it gives me way more judder. I have not had time to see when it becomes bad on Rift only on Vive which required low with no shadows 2×msaa to get acceptable performance. Graphics card stuck in 40% utilization. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Yes problem is that upping settings tends to just run into the dx11 limit and the card will stay at the same utilization just with a load more judder :( Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Msi Afterburner will tell you graphics card usage as a percentage. Are you running in VR if not the test is meaningless sorry. VR is a different ballgame and yes I spent all the money for the 1080 and saw no perceptable inprovement :( Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Ok have had it set up for an hour only and leave on vacation tomorrow. Back Saturday , havent looked at the pixel stuff so will try. My sig has my specs. I will try today if I get some time but probably wont get to it till sunday soz. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Constantine was the rep. I was about to give them one more chance before going to the credit card company and disputing the charge. Now it works and is significantly better than the vive for DCS I am gonna keep it. Have to keep the Vive for the rest of the family. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

I will take a look later but just to say if you are running in VR use afterburner to check your graphics card in VR . Because in VR we are producing 2 images we run into a DX11 limit. Try Afterburner and see if you are maxing out your 970. Unfortunately its totally different from multi monitor . Skatezilla put an excellent explanation on the boards somewhere. I saw no difference between 980 and 1080 inVR Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
